They are growing so strangely, they almost look like a little Pachanoi. Maybe they want more light.4 points
-
Yeah possible. Heres the thing. If you grow them at room temperature but without artifical lighting, you run into all kind of problems because the lack of light and UV Rays affects thje Immune system. Its possible the strange growth will revert to normal again once you have them outside but chances are it will stay like that. Basically whats happening with this weird growth is that they are stretching themselves towards the lightsource what causes this freaky look.3 points

So I was running out of peres earlier in the year and wanted to do some grafting. I had some very small trichs which I thought I would try to graft to as an experiment. Seems to have worked out well! This is a new graft but is basically what I did to the below pics about 9 months ago. A little bit smaller. These are the 9 month old grafts using both trich and loph seedlings as stock. The stock continued to fatten up over time. Grown in Tassie mind you, so I am very happy with their growth rate My biggest and favorite loph.3 points

I've been browsing here since I heard Greg on JJJ a few months ago. What I can't believe his how people don't support what he is doing more and tollerate this sort of abusive bullshit. Why don't you people slap morons like this down? Jabez. You are an unmittigated, antisocial jerk. Greg has never said any such thing on these forums and comparing him to a pedophile is pure nastiness. You are an anonymous bloody coward, but Greg is out there making a difference and fighting for change. I know who I respect.3 points

more light please! on the positive side, etiolated specimens could provide better specimens to graft.2 points

Why hasnt my other loph exhibited any of these strange properties then? It has exactly the same environment as the pair in question! Why do some people suffer more oftenly from certain diseases than others? Maybe the one that looks normal was healthier and could deal better with the conditions than the others. Or maybe it stopped growing instead of showing distored growth. The exact reason isnt really important as i can guarantee you that this elongated growth comes from lack of light/UV Rays in combination with too warm temperatures. The fact that the "tips" have a pale yellow color instead of a natural green one points out the lack of light as well. Pups that didnt get any light because they were covered from soil look like that too.2 points

Reckless datura consumption by youth has been going on for a long time....and will no doubt continue to go on. And I am sorry to say it but even when educated... Shit, eat a daffodil bulb and you will know all about poisonous plants. If you look into it there are a lot of poisonous plants common to the garden..... Not everyone is aware of poisonous plants (or fungi ) and so many hospital admissions of children occur every year.2 points

Hey guys/girls, Anyone else growing this hybrid, love this plant. Beautiful golden Terscheckii colour spines Would really like to see a large/larger specimen if anyone has this in their collection. Will turn this into many once it gets larger. Terscheckii spelt incorrectly in the title, can't change it.1 point

I have been approached by a seed supplier offering me mixed loph seeds to sell at my site seedsaustralia.net to test the viability of the seeds he has sent me some sample seeds. rather than test them myself ( and also test how good or bad my methods are ) I have an offer for you. if you would like 50 free mixed loph seeds from this potential new supplier I have them listed on my website in the 'specials' section as Mixed Lophophora seeds *review* they are listed at $15 for 50 but when checking out if you use the coupon code SAB they will be free. there is a catch however. *you have to log into my site and create an account ( delete it straight after if you like) *you have to grow the seeds soonish ( next couple of weeks) *you have to put your corroboree username in the comments section of the order ( so I know who you are) *you have to provide me with feedback on your sowing techniques and germination rates either here or via PM after a couple of weeks after sowing. *it may take me a few days to mail everything out depending on demand. *you will have to pay the $2 postage. *one pack of seeds per customer. I think I have set everything up on my site ready for this to happen. let me know if you have any problems with this and please feel free to buy other seeds while your there ;) please don't pay for Mixed Lophophora seeds *review* cheers WT1 point

this is a good point i think. also greg i looked for you today, where were you? maybe you were on your lunch break. oh wait..1 point

Hi Parzival, its definately the lack of light that causes this elongated growth. The light that gets through the window is not nearly enough to keep em healthy for a long time. Besides, the window glass blocks the UV Rays from coming in what is probably the biggest problem. bye Eg1 point

Give it a trial with more indirect light and apply some sulfur powder, maybe cut back on the humidity/watering a bit and see how it goes from there. That's what I'd do at least.1 point

Hey Khala, I don't have time to be taking cuttings, but when you move here you are welcome to come over and take some prunings to do cuttings yourself. Caapi, red/white/narrow/PH cathas, P. carth and viridis, calea, voacanga etc. I think I have some Hyoscyamus and Atropa seed somewhere too. And some other plants you may be interested in, heimia, coffea, artemesias, a few types of brugs, trichs, rivea etc.1 point

i guess what im saying is there hadn't been much scheduling for these and im not aloud to grow pot plants or poppy plants, Salvia for ornamental purposes in my back yard id grow a sanguinea for deep personal ornamental issues but not while i have dogs in the back yard and kids ready to rip it in the neighborhood if i put it in the front yard and even though they stole my tree id still feel sorry for em and i sure aint fuck having one in the house and kids would probably spot it miles away in the backyard with brugmansias anyway probably end up with one over the fence and rippin my garden. hence i knew daffodils where poisonous never thought of eating one i guess it was the ppl telling me it was poisonous a few times as a kid sat in the head instead of ppl saying yeh its a full on hallucinogen that creates realistic visions its a what u do is put etc amounts of flowers in and cook a tea or eat a couple pods if u can find them then 1 in 4 of them saying its poisonous if we where to respect it like the old native american tribes that treated it like a sorcerer then there might be a good future for datura but the way how mankind is going i dont see that happening mushys i never had a problem with picking because ive allways treated them with caution and identified them being scared of the infamous death caps, you see in the paper some dude hospitalized over picking a bad mushroom but u dont see 2 admited to icu 1 comatised nearly dieing from a heart attack and both nearly had their throats closed over.. sure u have ones like scolopalamine being the theifs drug but they dont refer to datura and i go in to doctors pretty much all the time when i need to mention im still gettin residual effects from datura overdose they basicly got no idea until i start slinging words like hyoscine atropine that they may tick on to it i could go on about this for ages but im not saying ban plants certain plants by all means grow em but why have such great usefull plants scheduled to the shit house and have deliriants legal like datura and alcohol and i certainly aint touching those travel calm pills for travel sickness in a billion years and then i been on sites that said stuff like mandrake is the bomb and dont worry bout how much u smoke cuz u cant overdose and its legal as i said i can go on for ages but im just gonna stop here before this little conflict gos on for ages and im not saying put a 'ban' on anything i was just saying im surprised its not allready and i just like using brug as a good example because they stick out like dog balls1 point

^^^ Absolutely, Waterboy! A surprisingly large number of people die from wild-collected fungi every year, it would be difficult to ban wild fungi from growing, and a lot of people safely wild harvest fungi every year and gain great pleasure from doing so. It's much better to teach everyone the dangers of wild fungi rather than impose an unwanted ban that would frequently be ignored, often with much more catastrophic consequences than an openly discussed and well-understood subject.1 point

Well thats good that they got their seeds, on th etopic of Datura is it all species on the weed list? What about metel var. fastuosa I thought they may have slipped by being very ornamental but I guess if all Datura are on the list. If it quacks like a duck lol.1 point

Here's a recent pic of my seedlings of the TPM x SS02 cross - kept 10 for myself, only 5 germinated, 1 perished early on - so, 4 survivors, but all are freaks I am happy to see I have noticed that the really gnarly crested variation seems to like less sun - it turns reddish more easily - now is shooting up a little green column type thing though - moving itselt to higher groumnd maybe?1 point

not great shots or anything but here: this one is a pure crest in the right of this photo you can see one that is branching and crested, in the center are two others, one of them has branches and crest, the other is crest only then in this one you can see the three normal types with the specimen with 11 ribs the crests get a lot of heat and their medium gets drier more quickly, this results in the stress pigments that are visible, they are not sunburned nor are they receiving excess light but they are underpotted for the size of container they should be in1 point
