A few for giveaway Sowed 42 Santalum spicatum seeds Separated out 20 of the strongest Acacia acuminata broad phyllode seedlings from my most recent seed picking Need to get some GA3 for some Duboisia myoporoides seed a generous member is sending Grafted some monstrose stuff and finally pushed past 900 pieces of Pereskiopsis. 911 at the moment versus 6 weeks ago when I had 350~. Allocated a spot for another 13 tubs of 91 pieces (1,183). Managed to put 40 in forestry tubes for my own use in the next few weeks after this time spent building numbers. Now I just need to find a reasonably priced lab which can do GCMS testing. withdrawl clinic Posted February 20, 2019 Share Posted February 20, 2019 worked and played with tabernanthe iboga. seeds are ready when the fruit turns yellow. if you don't need the seeds right away, than rather keep the fruit, on the bush. over wrote my instincts and took a lot of iboga root cuttings (tried different sizes and set ups). planted iboga seeds (nick the seedcoat). if the iboga seedling emerges with the seed coat still on, weight the seed coat down with small rocks, so the embryo can, pull free! iboga cuttings are almost impossible... almost, u say...hmm... andros88 Posted March 3, 2019 Share Posted March 3, 2019 Cared for my psychotrias (+ nepenthes ) which have been growing in a little greenhouse all spring and summer. These have been quite easy to care for as the soil is rich with earthworms and nutrients which they love. Make-shift ultrasonic humidifier (built for $18) saved them on 40+ degree days. I'm curious & open to ideas Apart from veges, I'm doing bulk Acacia. Acuminata, burkittii, courtii. Also going heavy on ornamentals. Sowed a lot of lupins, asters, sunflowers, zinnias, echinacea, catnip, poppies etc. What I'm NOT sowing: any more trichos! I'm doing bulk acacia too, namely: simplex, acuminata, neurophylla & victoriae, and other fabacaeae-type plants: d leptolobus & illinoensis (still haven't got the growing requirements quite right for them yet). Have been interested in trying dwarf fruiting varieties for a while now like mulberry & raspberry. Also some rustica, P. carth and alba too, thanks to SAB people Any dwarf fruit for your climate is a winner if space is limited. Definitely recommend dwarf mulberry and dwarf bananas! Gimli Posted August 31, 2019 Share Posted August 31, 2019 Haven't been on here for a while Recently sown a bunch of seeds Acacia courtii Acacia phlebophylla Phyllodium pulchellum (unknown amount, will post in the specific thread with my results and grievances) Mimosa hostilis Some native citrus and other bush tucker Recently setup 4 new bee hives, including a flow super (turn tap for honey extraction). This should be an interesting design to play with, truly innovative Managed to get another Santalum acuminatum (quandong) to germinate! Super happy about this as they are tricky compared to Santalum spicatum (WA Sandalwood). Plan to clear a bunch of cacti to make way for the quandong and its host. Also plan to setup a small side business working with WA Sandalwood, supply of seedlings with and without hosts and then moving onto site visits for consultations, possibly site prep Sprinkled a bunch of Papaver somniferum seeds around the yard and now have a bunch of sprouts, some getting quite large. It’s true that they smell like jizz when you bust ‘em open. Soaking the seeds in water overnight and planting them toMorrow evening. Moved some plants from pots into the ground. ( brugs, cacti, d.cooperi) sowed some poppies ‘giganteum’, Lauren’s grape, Flemish antique, and lavender dbl. A load of tricho seed has germinated. Sowed some hbwr, heavenly blue and Rivea corymbosa. Sowed Chillis, basil, Shiso, lavender, dill, mugwort and too many other herbs/veges to mention. Made some soil primo soil mixes. Fkkn spring ay. No fruits have set, likely not the right type of pollinators around these parts and/or not self-fertile. Tried pollinating with a paint brush but also no joy.
