MeanGreen
Went to water my plants which are and have been chilling in a neighbour's veranda for the winter. Some of them really didn't like the environment change though, my Mimosa tenuiflora lost almost all its leaves. As did most of my kratom plants (thankfully my best ones are in the grow tent doing good). Some of them fare better though, so it allowed me to identify the hardiest genetics I have since all of them are seedlings. All my Phalaris species have dried up but I'm confident new rhizomes will emerge this spring. The cacti are doing great though, just sleeping peacefully. Gimli
Some of my Acacia acuminata are like this. What is it and why? Spotted under my frangi Appears to be a double so far. This went funky a while back but now it looks like a revert?

Gimli
Back in early Feb I decided I want to try grafting a few loph pups from the mother plant I picked up a month earlier Made straight cuts on stock and scion, tried to cross the vascular rings as best I could, tried to get any air out too. Held it down tight af with the foot of a stocking Boom, now I have this and another. Keeping a note of how I am doing things in a little journal so I don't forget how I did things and what worked/didn't work. Had 2 failures but I've let them callous and go into soil to hopefully grow roots. Trying tricho to pere. Used some leaf juice as glue. Put into an old fish tank with a glad wrap lid and some water in a small bowl to make it humid. Only way to learn. Some of my Gastrolobium bilobum (1080 plants) Some Nexus I've been playing around with. Got 4 strains of viridis too now. Wish I could get rooted cuttings but no one wants to send to WA.. leaf will have to do. Some of the jams I've grown from my plantation seed. The same seed I did a giveaway with here and via the SAB fb group. Lots of happy recipients already. 2 weeks ago I put down seed into this tray (a small gift from a forum member - quite good too, I like the depth of it compared to other trays I have), and 1 week later a bloody bird came in and ate 50+ seedlings. Re-did HWT seed batch and I now have 61 of 63 cells with a seedling... contained in a bloody cat trap.. to keep birds out... Someone on this forum ever so generously sent me some Acacia obtusifolia seed late last year. This is them now... Thank you to whoever it was (I have a shit memory) - please PM so I can say thanks again! Hopefully give a few away at the next Perth meet. @saylor twift ? I think it was you. Got these 4 D metel seedlings to me. I have had over 30 flowers between 4 plants. The smell is incredible. Unfortunately no seeds have set yet. Wonder if it's a lack of bugs? Torsten mentioned that the opening of the flower is usually enough to pollinate Datura? Hopefully one of them does throw seed as I'd love to share. The purple is intense! My scop x Super Pedro is a little dehydrated at the moment. Noticed this lump. Feels solid and round.. could it be a non emergent pup? My 2 Nexus. One on left was the same size as the one on the right back in early December. Going to put some more leaves down to propagate for local members/giveaway plantlets.
Gimli
This graft has already started cranking out 4 pups. Tearing itself apart! Beauty though considering its grown 7mm in diameter in a month
aguacolla
Not just today, but recently I have... Planted lots of acuminata seeds. I'm getting alright germination rates, maybe around 50%. I soak them in boiling water for 12 hours before planting. Herbalistics seeds. I've read that they grow slowly, so I'm hoping to plant ~50 of them in my yard so that if some don't survive I'll still have lots. Got some nice big dragonfruit cuttings from one of my aunties. I cut them up into 20cm lengths and have put them in dry perlite to root like I do with my trich cuttings. Hoping to graft trichs and lophos to them eventually. Transplanted my periskiopsis's to a much bigger pot hoping for faster growth eventually. But now they've hardly grown for a month... and some snails came and ate some of their stems/leaves Tried to plant various nicotiana seeds... Getting a pretty low germination rate, not sure why yet. Too much moisture maybe? Put more trichs in the ground The caapi plants I bought from herbalistics are doing great. I had them in pots for the first couple months but they didn't get much growth, and I also wasn't fertilising them enough. Since putting them in the ground next to trees and fertilising regularly, they've grown heaps. They're climbed about 2m of tree so far and don't seem to be stopping A fewweeks ago I realised that I had lots of aphids on most of the caapi leaves, and that seemed to be slowing down their growth a lot, and lots of the leaves were wilting. I sprayed them with some stuff we got from bunnings, and haven't seen any aphids since, and growth has really picked up again.

It reminds me of 2 pere i had placed outside, they went to look like the pere in habitat pictures almost. Could it be UV/strong light? My pere on the windowsill that gets sun from around 07:00 to 12:00 do great (IIRC they bend away from the window pretty strongly, whatever that means) Edited March 15, 2018 by DualWieldRake

Gimli
Some jams from the plantation Someone decided they wanted to be different! A few self sown jams Took a mistletoe spp berry, squished it and placed it on a A acuminata branch. Don't think it'll grow but worth a try Some fat little terscheckii x terscheckii Grew some Bhut Jolokia plants this year as I gave it a miss the last season. I always top my plants when they have 4-6 nodes. Dehydrated and powdered what was ripe. The trunk on them is a good 3cm diameter Edited March 17, 2018 by Gimli

Gimli
In the past few weeks I've received a number of clones from a local member, including Anna, Ben, Bendigo, Bruce, Buddhist Monastery, Eileen, Mum & Dad, Sir Jeans, Bogan, Fields Pachanoi, MG Red Spine. Sir Jeans Mum & Dad Removing more dead jam trees from the plantation. I hope everyone can smell this at least once in their life! Caterpillars doing some funky ceremonial dance?! Put some more of my seed grown jams in the ground down the back. High density? Probably. Do I care? Not really. I have 12 in the ground here in metro Perth. Planning to guerilla garden a heap into local parks and median strips during winter I got this from @Psiphi a few years back as a tiny seedling, maybe 1-2cm Little 'El Lanzon' stump I got from a local member. By stump, I mean a seedling no bigger than 3-4cm that was decapitated! Throwing 2 pups so quite chuffed at its resilience Repotting some Viridis 'Luna' from takeaway to 100mm pot and into humidity box.

While I like many clones, it is through the planting of seeds that we get those many of those unique clones. With that being said, my own day was pretty humdrum, but then I did get to collect a few seeds from my own Datura discolor.
