Cactus of the month year day thread? Which cactus is really shining for you right now?

Recommended Posts

My kids (and I ) love collecting succlents from around the backyard and putting them together in pots.  The trichos really seem light up with health in that situation plumping up quickly and just having an amazing hue about them.  Really shining. They seem to love a shared space. Has anyone else had this experience?

Sorry 'bout the sideways pics, i tried and failed.

been sticking succulents on cacti lately, succulents don't get water until the roots hit the soil in the pot with the cactus, over time the roots will get woody and look as if the plants grown up the cactus from multiple areas, haven't had rot issues yet but I haven't been doing this to cacti long enough to experience any problems

-cactus is a Pedro crest

Something I whipped up recently - TP x TPM grafted on to an old battered chunk of PC (that originally came from @Yeti101 before he headed south a few years back).  I'm really excited to see what this is going to do over the next few years.

But "Tipz" macro x Peru "Norma" (seeds from @zed240) is also throbbing.

wow, that's amazing, how big was the stock and how wide is the lophball at the last pictures??  I have done this with caespitosa plants, but in much shorter stock, it becomes crazy soon, but wow, havent seen anything like this...

They rot if left in the winter rain. And I guess they might need repotting of the stock. I never did it. But I took several cuttings from such grafts. I am inspired to graft a couple again this year.

1) Ferobergia seedlings, all from my own plants, including F1 ones. ~1.5 year old.

2) Hylocalicium (chimera Hylocereus/Gymnocalicium) . People usually say that chimeras tend to go normal, there are reports on this for this chimera, too, but well, not so much for me.. not sure if pure luck or my strategically cutting played a role.. Also, new shoots have been consistently damaged my snails, but I have managed to propagate enough. Very interesting, but very untidy plant
