The most spiny seedling I have right now... as far as substance goes is this one from zelly. The spines are so thick they make music when you rub your fingers across them. I am absolutely in love with this little one.

Last ditch effort, you could put pollen from a different genus on your cacti and just hope for the best.
Matt1208
Yes fourth flower on this plant, I only have one diffusa, I did however grab the closed dried flower from the diffusa and put it on the caespitosa(first time it's flowered since I got it) flower, hoping it'll produce seed, I would really love another flowering diffusa but since they take so long to flower once they start no one wants to part with them- diffusa is also pushing out two new pups, originally thought it was one but the second one just poked its head out yeasterday

sagiXsagi
diffusa> well someone told me diffusas are self-pollinatable and also compatible with pollinated with a williamsi. I sowed some seeds this year, I hadnt sown anything for years, but had a bad rate for diffusas despite freshness. my new passion is ferobergias (along with red spined ferocacti and hybrids) and here is one of my favourites. It's a "violet f2 x leuchtenbergia" Edited January 8, 2018 by sagiXsagi
nrivers
Awesome plant Sagi, sure has a unique look! Love the feros also, killer spines!

MeanGreen
I don't agree at all Sagi, in my experience caespitosa seedlings grow like this, one head and then pup from the areoles: Plus this 3 headed one came from a batch of about 100 seedlings which all are regular williamsii. Dichotomous seedlings are pretty common, here's what they grow up to look like: Edited February 3, 2018 by MeanGreen
sagiXsagi
fair enough - I havent sown caespitosas ever, but I had/have many and have chopped them up a lot in all kind of sizes. they grow exactly like this when small , especially if they are underground . their branching is very random I have found But you might be right. It would be interesting to see if it pups more.
