You know I just love this thread. Personally there is not a day goes by that I dont spend at least 30 minutes, Gazing at, Talking to, Adding a little water here & there. I decide daily if I am going to Graft something, or even repot something. This spring if everything goes right I am going to build a small Greenhouse. I had one once before. MAn talk about adding at least 1 hour a day, And that can go up and down like a kid on a slide. What really go me about the time involved in growing my cacti now and even then was I didntr care or even keep up with it. I really do love ma cacti and hope a they grow lARGER & lARGER, AS THEY DO i HOPE i CAN KEEP UP WITH GIVING THEM AWAY AGAIN. i HAVE ALWAYS DONATED MOST OF MY CACTI FOR SHIPPING. eVERYONE HAVE FUN WITH YOUR CACTI AND MERRY CHRISTMAS

The first is azureocereus sp. (hertlinglianus?) in good health these are very blue and can grow quite large. the second is an echinopsis. the third may be a mammillaria of some kind (compressa?).

Looking good, Dreamtime! Have like 500 types of seed lined up for germination and cant seem to get my ass up. lol. Have already put down 100 or so but thats just a fraction of what i need to sow. Very small containers, one bag of seed each. Think about starting another germination cycle in summer to get everything sown. Like every summer till the rest of my life. lol.

I by no means have a particularly massive or rare collection of Astros but am loving these guys at the moment. I have managed to set some seed and today attempted to graft a stack to peres. I have seen online some amazing mutants But personally am a big fan of the A asterias hybrids, I really want some of the red flowering ones. ANyway thought I might start a thread and hopefully a few of us can post some pics and maybe swap some seeds or seedlings down the track. A capricorne x A asterias I crossed this back with my A asteria and have grafted 10 or so seedlings to peres this morning. A asterias in flower (I have crossed this with the super kabuto and also the capricorne hybrid. A asterias Super Kabuto in flower And here is a seed grown A asterias hybrid from Hellonasty

DreamTimeBliss : lophs only have 5% organic material, the rest is crushed up rocks. so use only 5% of that perlite and potting mix you got, and add 95% small rock-gravel stuff. they look really bad. as Mr. Bowser said, keep DRY and shaded sun, maybe setup a shade cloth tent over them. good luck.

Hey DTB, Looks like that soil isn't the best for growing cactus in general... lots of what looks like uncomposted bark and woody material. IME most store bought cactus mixes are shit for actually growing a cactus in... seems like the soil mix companies just throw all their left over crap together and add sand and perlite and call it a cactus mix. Sure they might barely sustain cacti like peres, selenicereus, hylocereus... but other than that you're better off making your own mix. Lophs like low amounts of organic material in the soil. Check out Kada's Garden website soil suggestions for loph soil suggestions under "mineral mixes" and remember that lophs typically grow in areas rich in limestone. Probably want to replant in better soil and keep dry while they heal. Good luck!

Rage never gave you the artist and title at the end. I remember being upset about it when I was watching it in the late 80s. And then we didn't have online playlists or forums to ask peers. Once the playlist was up, I used it a lot until I got the Shazam ap. If they're worth nothing more, smartphones are worth it just for this ap.

So what? He should do it for the principle of it, not the payout. It may of only been two days lost, but by standing up for his rights, it may be harder for them to fuck over someone else in future, who may be in a much more vulnerable position.

my lawyer is bohemian, so with him the rule would not be about how expensive his suit is, but how expensive his next drink is. Actually, it's more about how interesting his next drink is as I don't think money really plays too much fo a role in his decision making. Lawyers that are successful often get too laid back and let their underlings do too much of the work which means they are not really involved in the case much themselves. A law firm that has 2 principals 3 or 4 juniors and a couple of paralegals or secretaries seems to be best. Having 2 principals means that there is always one available for emergencies [you will always need a lawyer when he is on holidays or in court, LOL]. Having a couple of juniors means the principals have enough money and standing to afford to keep them busy, but not so much that they have lost overview of the firm and touch with the clients. Pick a firm close to the courts as it saves you lots of money. It also means they are better known in court. This is something I learnt a long time ago.... my first criminal lawyer in sydney was pretty young and fresh, so he struggled to get attention by the judge and everyone in the room. When his mentor rocked up suddenly all the other lawyers shut up, got out of the way and he had the judge's full attention. Keeping an eye on these things really makes a difference. As the case progressed the mentor actually warned me not to get upset if I see him having lunch with the prosecutor, cos that's just how things go in the court house. Afterwards I realised that over lunch the fate of the case had pretty much been decided - and it was very positive for our side. It seems a good social rapport between the two sides at the highest level means much less crap being dragged out in court and hence a much swifter decision. So watch your solicitor in court. Does he make his points well? does he get a good chance to do so, ie does he have the respect of his peers? There is a lot of time involved waiting for court, so getting a firm close to the court will save you lots of money. For my dad's divorce he chose a lawyer close to him, but far from court and this cost him about 2000-3000 per short appearance [eg adjournments], while a firm close by would charge maybe 200-300 for the same. And by close I mean really close - maximum 2 city blocks. Ultimately you need to look at the outcomes though. if you can't test these yourself via smaller issues then look at his previous work. I picked a solicitor firm at random a few years ago as I needed one in brisbane, but when given a choice of partners I googled the names. Turns out one of them was the one that defended Mohammed Haneef against Philip Ruddock's hysterial campaign. My kinda guy ;) On my last case we went for a pubcrawl in melbourne till 2 am chatting about his work for the boat people. Who cares about the suit as long as he presents well in court .....
