    help with images

I am trying to post some images and I cannot find a way to do it any more. I have posted images before but cannot now, Please help
  2. You know I just love this thread. Personally there is not a day goes by that I dont spend at least 30 minutes, Gazing at, Talking to, Adding a little water here & there. I decide daily if I am going to Graft something, or even repot something. This spring if everything goes right I am going to build a small Greenhouse. I had one once before. MAn talk about adding at least 1 hour a day, And that can go up and down like a kid on a slide. What really go me about the time involved in growing my cacti now and even then was I didntr care or even keep up with it. I really do love ma cacti and hope a they grow lARGER & lARGER, AS THEY DO i HOPE i CAN KEEP UP WITH GIVING THEM AWAY AGAIN. i HAVE ALWAYS DONATED MOST OF MY CACTI FOR SHIPPING. eVERYONE HAVE FUN WITH YOUR CACTI AND MERRY CHRISTMAS

    rooting hormone with lophophora

I have used it and will continue using it. I really do no think it speeds anything up, but it has a high sulphur content which I think helps keep infections down. That why I use it.

Anyways 1 if the Pach's I am grafting has 3 pups on it. HAs anyone ever tried to graft pups with while still on the mother plant? This could make for a very interesting plant. sick lophophoras

I am so proud of this plant I love showing it off! Hey Dude the evil Genius has given you just about the best advise you can get. I am not sure about the mites but be sure and dust these guys. Last year was my first year experiencing spling cacti. it was tramatising. By the time it was over it was a good experience. Mine split really bad. So what I had to do was remove about 1/2 of the cacti. Let me tell you what I ended up doing. I removed 1/2 the cacti. I left no root on this part and basically just the top of the cacti. I grafted this part on a regular T. pachanoi. The graft took. I guess this was a good 6-8 months ago. so it has been kinda slow. Right now I have a some nice starts. I am just having to make a decision, leave it alone until next year. Or consider grafting and making several plants. Ill probably just leave it alone until spring. Who knows I will wait until they get bigger and then decide. I am so proud of this plant I love showing it off Yes I know I am repeating this!

    General question

Guys I use to have a great LW collection. I had over 500 plants. About 6 years ago someone stole all my good plants. Since then I have just stayed away from my cacti collecting. LAtely I have been missing them. Alot. I am older than most of you guys. I have really been thinking about starting over on my cacti collection. I have found a dealer that will sell me many 1cm plants. do you guys think they will be of any size in the next 10-15 years. I hate having all small plants but buying anything of any size is pretty expensive. Please give me your thoughts.
  9. SWIM had a mouse eat half of a LW of his. It didnt seem to be growing at all. yes h got the center of it. Swim thought the plant was lost anyways so he Cut what was left of the the grren part off the roots, just leaving a little green.he took the large piece of cacti and grafted it onto a tricho. Now this cacti has regrown the center and has 2 very small pups on it. The root now has 5 pups on it. I dont think thats a great as 1 large cacti but it already has a nice root system it took at least 9 weeks before these pups appeared. Not everything bad happened out of this

    Simple tip

Hey Guys I was reading somewhere to always water our cacti from the bottom. This makes total sense. I am not sure of the reasoning though. Anyways I read this will keep the ugly calcium buildup off the sides and top of cacti. Sometimes I get in a hurry watering my cacti so I splash it every where. Also do we really know what is in our water? I started using Bottled water to water my cacti and favorite plants. this started to get expensive quick. I was getting ready to go back to tap water and my wife reminded me I had bought one of those water filtering pitchers. WOW. The filter need changed only every three months and I get lots of water out of them. I started using this to water all my indoor cacti and other favorite plants. I am impressed with this idea. When buying your pitcher you can determine what size you want to filter down to. It think it does a good job Now the down side. I have no idea if these filters really work. Am I helping the plants at all? I am hoping time will tel. I figure I am on the right track. I let all my water sit at least 24 hrs to get rid of most chlorine and hoping the filter does the rest. This is just an idea. I am hoping it helps someone else

    Grafting question

Lets say swim Grafts a cacti onto a 2" tricho. after about a year or so the graft gets about the same size as the tricho. Does it continue to grow at the faster rate or does it slo down? Would it speed back up if put on a larger tricho or one with a larger root system? Swim has several grafts that arevthe same size as the tricho it was put on. They seem to have slowed down considerably. Swim is wondering should he go ahead and root these guys or leave them alone or put them on a larger cacti???

    soft Cacti

Hey efildim these plants are indoors under lights. so the temps are changing but not like they wood naturally. Swim watered it really good today. if the problem doesnt take care of itself rather quickly, I will get swim to unpot it again and take lotsa pics. looking at it the cacti is blemish free. no black spots. Swim has been working with CACTI at least 25 years. so he is not a beginner. it has him stooped. Ill be back next week with some pics if necessary.

    soft Cacti

SWIM Has a lopho fricii and the top is getting kinda soft. Well he unplanted the Cacti (Roots look excellant) Let them dry for 3 weeks repotted the cacti and watered. the cacti is still soft and getting softer. Anyone who has messed with cacti know we cant hurry this process up, but this plant is 12 years old and swim doesnt want anything bad to happen to this baby. I dont know what to tell him. He has tried every thing I know. so anyone else please giv me something to go by

    Repotting

Hey Guys SWIM had potted a Lopho in a 3 inch pot about 8 months ago. for whatever reason he pulled it out of the pot. It was full and the main stem had alread turned upside down and was starting to grow back upward. Appearantly he is doing something right and he knows he is growing them exceptionally fast. He wants to know what size pot to put this in so he doesnt need to do this so often. His main question is how deep should his next pot be. A 4 inch Dia should do, but if its going to grow like a carrot he might need a 6-8 inch deep pot. Curious Buck The New Republic Of Texas
