i just have to say how much better of a read this place is now that the conspiracy stuff has been quelled, and the assosciated nutters vactated. i agree most of the threads descended into name calling shitfights. glad to see the place is getting back to its roots, about the plants

I was going to show you a picture of how the Eskimos live today, but their aren't any online... Anyways, they are in houses made of plywood and rubbish piling up to high heaven. Not very intelligent if you ask me. Well, not in our current definition of it. You were saying? I completely disagree. Plants gave us our consciousness: language, art, reason, intellect, everything. Why else would so many of these entheogenic substances be so similar to Serotonin. Or how DMT plays a huge role in your Circadian Clock. Really think about your theory for a second, and you might see the holes in it. Environment is much, much more than latitude, climate, and diet.

Hi Guys, I just bought an acreage in QLD on vendor finance and the terms are as follows: total price of the land is $39,000 with a deposit of $6000. I have just paid a part deposit of $1000 and am paying off the deposit at $260 per fortnight which will take around six months to pay off. After that I am simply making repayments of $100p/w until the balance is paid in full. I am on Centrelink so I don't have a great deal of cash especially with the extra sixty dollars per fortnight while paying the deposit off so my question is this: Can I put my caravan on the land and live there while I'm paying off the deposit or do I have to wait until the deposit is paid in full? I just don't see the purpose of paying rent in Brisbane while paying off a block of land at the same time. It would leave me financially stuffed. If I were to move, it would allow me an extra $200 per fortnight to help pay off the finance faster but I don't want to get in trouble with anyone by doing this. Any help here is much appreciated as I'm not 100% sure on the laws of putting a caravan onto land while paying off. The region is the north Burnett council, QLD.

Meredith Music Festival is always a fun journey We've made it a few times. On the weekend, we made the trek once more. The music, the nutjobs, the downright-unexplainable and the stories. Ah, the stories. A person gave my wife and i some ( 5 or 6?)hbwr seeds each while we were all sitting around enjoying the camp banter. A homebrew long neck washed down the chewed mess after around 10mins or so. About 1.half hours later we both decided to walk up to the "Pink Flamingo Bar" for a - u guessed it - a pink flamingo(a nice, potent cocktail). Anyway, we approach the bar, order and receive ,step away , take a sip and my wife whispers to me, "Didn't u see the turd.U almost stepped in it!" "Naah, where....wha.." Then i saw it. It was a small, perfectly shaped 'curlywurly with a tiny pinch' at the toptip of it. Dark brown. Wow, i thought. Imagine that. Did the psychonaut just drop em and dropped it or ...........god........we're people egging em on b4 security booted their arse out? So, for the next 5mins we debated and watched with baited breath. "Him...no no her.....wait wait this guy....no it's gotta be this beirdo" Then "it" happened and another mmf story was born. A guy wearing a suit with blinking, fluro, green lights draped around him walked up.........kicked it and then picked it up and put it right up there on the bar We went........!@!!#%!@!%! er.um.fuck off. He did not. Noway. far out pretty .......um chilled guy huh:) ??turns out the turd was someone's lost glove the true end

This thread isn't about 9/11 conspiracy theory. In the sense of having a day of peace I don't care who did it if we can just all stop killing each other for one day!

Please let us know when you have photos of these hybrid monsters, EG. Well, my main breeding focus is kinda heading into a new direction as i dont want to take the risk of governments outlawing some certain Trichs so i mostly grow Astrophytum and Echinopsis now. I also like Lophs but wont concentrate on em. Will definately cross everything i can within Astrophytum, Turbinicarpus, Lophophora, Gymnocalycium and Mammiliaria though. I once had a good friend send me a Lophophora x Gymnocalycium Cross so i know for sure its possible to produce seeds. That particular one wasnt viable but i will do my best to produce some truly unique hybrids over the next decade or so if i dont die before sitting on the shitter like elvis. Will definately put seeds and pollen into the community so feel free to let me know if you want to trade. Have some Astro seeds already but most of my soon the be Superkabuto motherplants and such are still too small so it will take 2 years till my own Astro Crosses are out. Also i always appreciate people sending me seed and pollen. This is a long time project. bye EG

The biggest factor in selecting intelligence in humans is environment/climate. The most intelligent races are from the northern hemisphere where thousands of years of dealing with cold climates plus an abundance of rich protein (animals in Eurasia/seafood in east Asia) selects intelligence (although through the spread of predominantly northern hemisphere technology and knowledge other factors have come into the equation in contemporary times). In the southern hemisphere hotter or tropical environments a big energy sapping brain is inefficient and a smaller brain = survival. In northern hemispheres so much planning and technology is required to survive ice ages and hunt big energy rich animals (mammoth/whale) that a larger brain = survival. If Psychedelics play a role in helping a group survive they will be beneficial and may lead to an increased intellectual or communal capacity but maybe not to the extent of other factors like latitude, climate or diet. It all comes down to whether traits are beneficial or chosen enough to pass on genes. If a dog disobeys it's owner (or wolf disobeys it's alpha) it's less likely to be used in breeding or pass on it's genes. Whether intelligence in domesticated dogs is selected is mostly subjective to it's owners. Some dogs are selected simply for cuteness, some for their aggressiveness, some for their superior sense of smell and others for their intelligence. Domesticated animals are somewhat different to wild animals because traits are usually selected by humans and not just environmental factors. The fact that a small percentage of some animals and most human groups seek out forms of inebriation suggests it does play a role (even if temporary) in group survival - nature observation, recreation, conceptualizing new ideas or group bonding.

I have always been reasonably intelligent, but it took psychedelics for me to realize how stupid/ignorant/arrogant I am. For that - I am eternally grateful.

Perhaps by seeking to live in true symbiosis with the biosphere around us. I would like to think that an alien race that had the technology to traverse the universe would have morals and ethics of a similar level of sophistication. So therefore aliens that arrive in parking orbit around earth will probably less likely to exterminate us if they can see we are making a conscious effort to support the program of life on our little planet. Maybe nuclear weapons would have a use in destroying an incoming asteroid that threatens to impact Earth. But even this is uncertain as more subtle 'nudging' methods may be more effective, and nuclear detonations aren't even that effective in space due to the vacuum (we would have to plant the device deep inside the asteroid so it had some matter surrounding it to affect). The best use for our nuclear weapons stockpile, in my mind, would be to dismantle the warheads and use the uranium and plutonium for energy production and use the rockets to send science experiments or satellites into low earth orbit.

yeah I was thinking the same thing as I was on my way to the airport last week, and had a look at a reliable spot north of bris - but looked like it would need another few weeks of rain at least for any cubes. there were cubes and meanies up until june this year, so maybe the start of the season will be pushed back a bit. mountainous areas on the NSW border would be definitely worth a look tho, that area defies all rules... the one time I asked a farmers permission to pick mushrooms this is how the convo went: M: "Hi there, did you know you have hundreds of mushrooms growing in your paddock?" F: "Yeah, those damn kids come sneaking around at 3am scaring the shit out of me. I've blasted my shotgun off a few times but they keep coming back." M: "Oh shit thats no good. How about I spend 30mins cleaning them out for you?" F: "Hmm well you don't really look like a wild type... so long as you steer well clear of the herd and out of here in 30minutes, I'm happy." M: "Thanks mate!" Easy as that.

You ever go to to a store and see a little kid throwing a temper tantrum at their mom, who just seems to tolerate it and let it play out, and the kid just keeps screaming at the mom, complaining about how their mom not bending to their will is a travesty of justice? Maybe mom should not have to spend all her time dealing with tantrums and whining kids? My understanding is that she has chores to do and has a lot of kids. When the behavior of one child detracts from the general welfare of many more children it becomes a problem. We should at least have some no tantrum zones, where whining posts will be censored the same way incriminating posts... Well maybe not should, but it would be nice. You ever hear a kid throwing a tantrum over something petty that they are taking too seriously? Like opinions online.

The problem isn't about the conspiracy theories being posted, but about the volume they are being posted at and the way the posters keep bringing as many threads as possible around to their topic even if it is not related. The main complaint I get is that a nice scientific thread ends up in complete conspiracy garbage so that those with the scientific interest no longer feel like posting their stuff. I'd prefer for them to stay and post than for the conspiracy posters to take over. Not a single conspiracy thread has ever been censored or deleted for the fact that it was a conspiracy topic. There is no censorship of the content here. However, I do promote the protection of topics. How would you feel if I turned every topic into a discussion on gay marriage? Kinda lame right and eventually you'd get sick of it and probably elave. well, those who are here for the science and who have little other interest see their threads being systematically poisoned and I don't think that is right which is why we are tightening things a bit over the enxt little while until we get back to the natural balance we had before hutch.
