    Loph appearance

what do you suppose happens when you force a plant to grow faster than mother nature intended? plain & simple, grafting forces abnormal growth
  9. I uses a glass dish (wine glass) & an old toothbrush to beat the hell out of the stamens & collecting the pollen in the glass dish.......quite often included are some stamen's and or filaments. Then i grab the q-tips and roll them thru the pollen, swabbing up as much per q-tip as possible....making damn sure not to include any filament or stamen stragglers. q-tips go into a zip lock baggie thats never quite zipped shut...and date labeled, then stuck in the fridge.
  10. If a person uses a free online photo editor program does the person retain full ownership / copyright protections of the photo? Even though it may permanently exist on the cloud? Do these editors also strip out the GPS data embedding in the picture?

    My overgrown cactus garden

If i wanted the results ur looking for I'd go scorched earth approach...all them weed & grasses have seeds which will sprout forever, even thru layers of rocks....burn em & their parents....use a propane torch or similar around the plants you want to save, the ashes will benefit the soil & roots. digging them up puts them in shock which will retard growth for awhile while they recover...bad idea imo. burn out the grasses weeds & seeds then sprinkle time release ferts around the plants.....each time the ferts get wet they release a tiny bit of chems, thus providing regular feedings over 4-6 months
  18. TH- have you ever thought about building a cold frame and over wintering some of your smaller cacti outdoors?
  19. VRG started out as a big clump of red flowering grandiflorus with 2-3 stems only slightly variegated however when crossed with other trichs a full range of variegation can be seen..... such as mis-val (validus) x vrg to near 100% variegation scop x vrg aka Zelly Oscar consists of 4-5 stems of seed grown plants that can exhibit monstrous / crested genetics. Pics are all oscar mother plants, one of the completely spineless stems flowered this yr Olivia consists of a single stem with a few branches and doesn't exhibit any monstrous genetics Bertha is very similar in growth & looks to LumberJack although crosses both ways have been made... Imo certain hybrids when crossed with other hybrids or clones tend to occasionally produce variegated seedlings... for example the SS02xSS01 plant when crossed with LumberJack or Bertha or Icaros or (insert name) sometimes produces variegated seedlings.

    yopo seed pods

My yopo tree started producing pods several years ago, first just a few, then more the next year, then more, and finally this year it absolutely exploded with pods. If i dont pick them they eventually dry up & split open, dropping the seeds. I'd like to hear from experienced growers or those with first hand knowledge as to the best time to pick the pods; when the seeds are at their freshest & most viable..... pic taken mid july 2018
  24. I had a bumper crop of TPM flowers on 3 different plants this year, including a revert from Nitrogens TPC plant. Unfortunately the first few crosses didn't take due to the extreme heat wave we had...... 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to Torsten & earmarked for the 2019 server fund. Winning bidders will make direct payment to Torsten. Yes, more than the highest bidder will be a winner, however I wont say how many. Minimum bid increment is $5 AUD. Pictures of the mother plants can be found on my website. UPDATE: The auction ends Dec 25, 2018 at 11:59am NSW time. I'm cutting the auction off early I do not plan on offering these seeds to the general public until sometime next year and some not at all due to low supplies. This auction is for one seed pack (15-20 seeds per pack) for ALL of the following TPM hybrids: TPM x Peru Blue TPM x Huarazensis TPM x Zelly (2 or more Zelly pollen donors) TPM x Pach Lima3 TPM x Variegated Red Grandiflorus TPM x Scopulicola TPM x Bridgesii Lee TPM x Bridgesii KGC (Killer Green Cactus) TPM x Colossus TPM x Zelly3,Zelly7,Zelly20,Zelly21,Zelly26 Icaros x TPM Peru Blue x TPM Huarazensis x TPM Pach Jessica x TPM Peru Bonny x TPM Colossus x TPM Peru Clyde x TPM Pach Lima3 x TPM Bridgesii Lee x TPM (Huarazensis x Scopulicola) x TPM Malo4 x TPM Malo4 is a Scopulicola x Huarazensis hybrid (SS02xSS01) x TPM Huanucoensis x TPM Peru Blue x TPC revert bonus: Scopulicola x TPM if the fruit have ripened by the end of Auction
