Benzito is back!

Recommended Posts

Guess who's back suckas?

That's right, the rumors are true, Benzito is finally back! :D

This is my official thread for people to flip out, and ask me why I haven't been on SAB since 22nd March. I figured every thread I post in for the next few weeks, would be hi-jacked otherwise...

I do plan to give you all a lengthy explanation for my absence, but I'm at work right now. Work is a major part of the reason I don't have as much net-time anymore these days, but all will be revealed soon enough.......

Thanks guys. It's good to be back. To be honest, I can't believe I was gone for so long.

I don't know why I disappeared, it just kind of happened gradually...

When I started back at work at the start of the year, after my wonderful holidays up North, the workload seemed to increase instantly. I work customer service, answering phones, and I have those 1200+ posts because I used to have plenty of free time to read the forums at work.

A few long-term people at work left, and I got 'promoted' to most senior team member. At only 3 years with the company, I now have 50 year old trainees asking me questions, while I try to carry out my 'pump specialist' duties and answer mundane phone calls. All of a sudden I stopped posting, I just didn't have the time. I still visited once a week for a month or so, but eventually I guess I just felt I didn't need SAB anymore.

Now is the part I can't explain. Why I didn't come back.

I've thought long and hard about it, and I think it is because of you people that I stayed away for so long. But not in the way you think... SAB was the first group of people I ever found that we're so like minded and accepted me for who I was. You guys gave me the self-esteem I'd never had before.

Then I visited Torsten, Darklight, Amulte, Tripitaka & AndyAmine while I was on Holidays around New Years (GOD I hope I didn't forget anyone, I was sooo baked), and I was given the confidence to start meeting new people face to face.

I'd always been pretty shy with meeting new people, but you guys were all so damn cool and accepting of me, I realised other humans couldn't be that bad.

So, the new & improved(thanks to SAB crew) Benzito went and met new people.

In March I started hanging out with a group of Urban Explorers. The idea of going in drains and abandoned buildings sounded scary and stupid to me. But these guys did it regularly, and they weren't dead.

Now that I wasn't into psychadelics as much as I had been last year, and I didn't have the SAB people around to help me test my boundaries, I found a new way to explore my world. Literally.

I started pushing my mental limits through confronting my fears. Kat and I have spent every single weekend since March, in Sydney, crawling around in stormwater drains, exploring abandoned buildings, long disused cable tunnels and unseen pieces of Sydney's history. It has been thrilling, and I have conquered several of my life-long fears in the process, and made a great bunch of friends.

But, god-damn if I don't miss you guys. :)

No-one else is as humble, down-to-earth, honest and genuinely loving than the people on these forums.

Guys, I'm sure I owe even more explanation than that, and I know I owe a f*ckload more apologies, but I guess we'll have to smooth it out over the coming weeks.

I'm still very busy at work, and I still spend my weekends exploring, but I will make time for you all. You guys really are my friends, and I'm sorry to have taken so much and not stuck around to give, in return. I hope I can make it up to you all.

I should also give a notable mention to Darcy and Torsten here. They are the only 2 people off here who actually contacted me outside the forums, and both asked me to let you all know that I was OK, and said I would be welcome/wanted back. That said I also appreciate that others respected my privacy enough to let me have the space and time to get back in contact when I was ready.

I just love you all!

So, what's been happening? Andy, why do you say SAB needs humor right now? :(

I was given the confidence to start meeting new people face to face.

I know what you mean. I think the crew here have given me a shot in the arm of this medicine when I was looking for it.

I started hanging out with a group of Urban Explorers

I'd love to know more about your experiences with this. I read about it in 'The Big Issue'. Sounds awesome.

Great story

I guess urban exploration is another kind of psychedelic travel. Journeys into the physical underworld of society are somewhat similar to those into the psychic and emotional underworld of the mind.

Welcome back :), :shroomer:.

If I had the guts to go urban exploring I would probably forget about ethnobotany too - for a while at least

I used to love caving and found that to be one of the greatest mental challenges ever (I am claustrophobic :o ), but as I got older I could no longer do it. I explored some sewers in North Sydney and some disused rail tunnels in the city when I used to live there, but there is only so far you can go while on acid

There are quite a few people who wanted to contact you, but because of some of the things you told me and others we weren't sure if lots of phonecalls from various freaks would not compound your possible situation from a legal perspective. So the fact you weren't inundated with calls (on your dead mobile  ) was for your protection rather than neglect. Quite a few people were extremely worried about you, including amulte for example.

great to have you back buddy,

and WORD to what creach said about urban exploring...

I used to do quite a lot of urban exploring when i was in my early teens and a rampaging pyromaniac.

These days i get the same kicks out of bush walking and softcore mountain climbing. However give me an abandoned house and some art supplies anyday.

One of the best things ive ever seen was a massive display of uv/blacklight artwork in an old disused train tunnel, bloody a-maze-ing.

and indeed the forums need a good hard injection fo your humour and laughin bill crosby avatar.

Apo- "I tried contacting you a bunch of times on your mobi Benz, pms, etc, but got no reply"

Yeah, I also forgot to mention that I lost my mobile at a music festival in February or so, and only just got a new SIM card last weekend! :)

That was another big part of my absence. With my increased stress at work I started to get the whole 'world on your shoulders' depression thing going on. I realised alot of my RL mates only ever called me to score for them, or to get me to suggest a spot to smoke at. When I stopped calling people to organise Friday night festivities, they only called me if they didn't have something to do. I was starting to feel used by my work AND my friends.

When I lost my mobile, I felt like a weight was lifted from my shoulders. All of a sudden I wasn't having to organise everyone else's recreational time anymore.

I wouldn't ever suggest that the people on SAB have been a 'drain' or a 'tax' on me, but I guess it was another group of people I had personal obligations to, and I guess I ran from my obligations for a while there.

But I want you all to know, I wasn't having a dig at anyone when I mentioned T and Darcy where the only people to contact me. I was just making sure credit is given where it's due. They told me just how much some people were missing me, and the effect my disappearance had on some of those people. I honestly did appreciate that I didn't have you all clamouring all over me to come back though. If I'd had that kind of pressure, I probably wouldn't have come back. It's just how I was feeling at the time. I harbour no resentment or bitter feelings towards any of you, I feel guilty if anything.

Either way, I'm back now, and overflowing with love to spread all over you, Bukkake style!
