good old classic astro myrio. I got it 8 years, its been in clay pot all the time and exposed to the elements in winter. I wonder if the increase in ribs number is a way of the plant to ask me to put it in a bigger container.

According to the grower who sent it to me, it is indeed. Ornatum x myriostigma. :-)

So I have this A. aterias cv. 'snow v-form' that's been alll green and furry but now these little yellow spots are appearing, they seem to be the fur but i'm not really sure....
Does anyone have any idea? Has anyone had anything similar happen possibly???? I was thinking possible variegation, but not too sure...

Is coahuilense synonymous with myriostigma?

It's not, as coahuilense is easy to cross with asterias, while myriostigma is not. Their flowers are different, in particular. This is from cactus-art:

"Astrophytum coahuilense with five ribs, has a surprising similarity to A. myriostigma. However, it is different in all characteristics regarding flower, fruit, seed and embryo which looks like in all details to Astrophytum capricorne. The differences into flower, fruit, seed and embryo and flecks are constant and permit in any case to distinguish Astrophytum coahuilense without problems from A. myriostigma "

My investigations on it yielded confusing info. All cleared up now. One of the many many reasons I love this forum. Thank you :-)

Awesome Change, hope you get some nice plants from them.

im assuming that these are from 2014's seeds?

hows the germ rates of the 2015 seeds?

ive not sown any of the 2015 batch I kept for myself as yet.

You have assumed correctly :) the above pics are from your 2014 seed.

I germinated the 2015 seeds approximately 1 month ago, Great germination rates

Keep a close eye on the Myriostigma Quad OP (2015), about 30% of them look to be 100% verigated, hopefully they live long enough to get to grafting age.

I can't wait til the SAB seed ring becomes solid enough to get info and stats like above! We're getting there that's for sure, some collections I've seen growing here are amazing, pollen swaps need to become priority when some of these sick grafts and that get going of the new hybrids and star Astro imports! So exciting
