Howdy PH ahem... I mean withdrawal clinic. I have been a member here for a very long time but am unfortunately non active for some time now but I still frequently lurk. Would definitely be interested in coming to a meet up with you man. I would of course need some certainty on the when but otherwise this sounds cool as. Surely there are other old school mofos that still lurk around here that remember plant helpers invaluable contributions. Don't leave a bro hanging too long.

If it is possible to do so I would recommend going walkabout for a while. It can truly work wonders for reviving the self.

Torsten, I love my plant collection more than anything else that I possess & SAB has played an enormous role in making it happen. I will support whatever needs to be done to keep this place around. Much respect mate

Hi Anodyne, I am currently running a charity concert to raise money to help me complete a youth centre. I entered this field over a decade ago to give back what was given to me. I was homeles from the age of 13 & without the help of homeless charities I would be dead or in jail. So far this year I have helped a very large number of homeless find stable accommodation & provided food for many starving families. The truth of the matter is that the government doesn't care & all government support will be extinct very soon & people like myself & the charities we support are desperately trying to find ways to become self sustaining in order to continue providing services to those most in need. I sincerely hope you will check out my thread & help spread the word. http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?s=e7df4bffd2f5ff6f7d0d551a3d7d3e9b&showtopic=39052 Cheers

Here's a couple of pics of my voacangas in flower for comparison. EG your plants do not look like voacanga to me unfortunately.

I've never actually seen Underbelly so can't contribute any insight on it's worthiness I'm just aware of it's existence.

Hey Mutant, you might get a kick out of the Underbelly TV series. All Australian True Crime Stories.

Both of these can have varied germination times, sometimes many months IME (depending on age, source, weather). Try increasing the humidity by placing the seedling pots into large ziplock bags.

I've had plenty of seed packs confiscated & destroyed even ones that are listed on ICON as OK to import without a permit. The packages are destroyed due to an inspector deciding for one reason or another that they are not permitted entry. Having said this, I order alot of seeds from overseas & the majority of them get through no worries. If the plant material that was intercepted was a clear cut illegal import then I would say that it is likely that you are on a targeted list of some sort. On the flipside the person sending things your way could be on a register of some kind or it could be as simple as the person sending the paperwork just neglected to declare what was in the package. Who can really say? Best bet is to cover your ass if need be.

would you walk away from you job for $61k?
Scientician replied to Zen Peddler's topic in Chill Space
If you hate your job anyway & know in your heart that it's time I say go for it. I walked away from 85k PA because of burnout. I've never made the same amount of money since but I sleep now which is far more valuable to me than any amount of money. Your post kind of says to me that you want to take the offer & you're looking for someone to let know that it is OK if you do. Well it is perfectly OK. Peace -
Don't want to be 'that guy' but I'm pretty sure that Argyreia, Rivea & Ipomea are illegal exports from Australia. So please do your homework before making this leap.

This was kind of a prototype that I tried to put together before the member trading reputation sub-topic/thread existed which is now the more applicable/appropriate place for these posts. Peas Muskrat
-
My proposition: I would like to start a list where members can scan for trade/purchase security. The Process: Persons with a positive trade experience with a SAB member can post the user name of said member & others with a good experience with the same member can leave a positive rating supporting the members reliability. This will not be a thread to complain or give negative ratings of members. The post should include the members user name ONLY! no other details or information is to be left. It is my belief that such a list will rapidly increase sales & trades for competent members & alleviate concerns for any members that are hesitant to participate in trades & sales. Without further ado....

Scientician posted a topic in Seed & Plant Swaps
I have sorted through my seed stash & have selected a few of the more desirable/rare ones to put into a good friday parcel for one of my fellow SABers. Conditions: - This offer is available for one member only - This offer will be only open to SABers with 'Members2' status or higher (I want to ensure that the people that helped get me started have first dibbs, sorry newcomers) - The person that provides the best or most amusing description of how they would gain the trust of a stranger gets the pack. - Unfortunately some of these seeds are only in small numbers. What's in the pack: - 5x Argania Spinosa Seeds - 3x Commiphora Neglecta Seeds - 10x Santalum Album Seeds - 10x Cereus Peruvianus var Spiralis Seeds Have a great long weekend people! -
Good Friday Seed Give Away - Rare Seeds One Pack Only
Scientician replied to Scientician's topic in Seed & Plant Swaps
OK I must end this now & I'm afraid to declare the concept a failure. But the blame lies with me & the way i put this shit together. My educated descision is to give the pack to Bullit. He expressed first interest, has proven hort skills & apparently he's good for tick. ThunderIdeal, you did ace the original guidelines & you have been honest & helpful. I will be contacting you via PM to give you an alternative offer 'no survivors' and all. As for everyone else, thank you for participating in this mess of a thread. I actually have more Cereus Peruvianus Spiralis seeds enroute from europe so I will be able to offer some more up for trades down the line a little. Peas. -

Bullit, due to this post plus the fact that I came to the realisation that the original conditions were far more limiting than I first thought. I have altered my opening post & levelled the playing field. edit - Shitty grammar -
Hey Incognito, they aren't seeds but the cuttings I've received from this seller have been very healthy. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1x-Brugmansia-sanguinea-Yellow-Angels-Trumpet-Datura-rare-plant-/150954812324?pt=AU_Plants_Seeds_Bulbs&hash=item23259ba3a4 They also stock the red variety from time to time.
