Dreamwalker. Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Fall is just starting here and I'm sad. I have like 10x the amount of plants i had last winter and I have to bring them all inside (except for a select few) Idk what I'm going to do with all those in my house. if they are dried out...do they need light...? otherwise you could stack them anywhere...attic?...wrap them in a warm wool blanket (so they can breath) Thunder horse has it worked out.. Dreamwalker. Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Hostilis...... think of them as thermal storage units....all those sacks of water lining the walls of your home...once they are warmed up they will moderate the house's internal climate...like heat bricks...passive heat storage tubes. https://www.thenaturalhome.com/heatstorage.htm Edited February 25, 2015 by Dreamwalker.

Dreamwalker. Posted September 4, 2014 took some aerial photes what's the plan when they grow too large for your home?
Optimystic Posted September 4, 2014 They won't get too big in those little pots! most of mine go skinny tipped if they don't get alot of lateral root space the exception is older fat logs but I wonder if its cause they root through the pot into the ground usually lol I have a few PCs that I left in smallish pots all last year which all threw skinny tips.. brought them in over winter and nearly forgot about them... I cut them off this year and re rooted the stumps in bigger pots with a rich compost getting about 1/3 less sun than last year and the new tips are twice as phat and plus they are pupping like mad I have a boatload of plants I wish I had just rooted in bigger pots... oh well more quality time w/me plants
hostilis Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) I just pulled a fruit off my loph that yielded 44 seeds. It was a hybrid cross L. williamsii x L. alberto-vojtechii. I'm not sure the cross worked, but that is the most seeds i've ever heard of a loph fruit yielding. Anyone ever had that many seeds or more from 1 loph fruit? The most this plant has provided in one fruit has been 20, and that was self-fertilization. Edited September 4, 2014 by hostilis
MrDoRight Posted September 7, 2014 Today an approximately 20 year old Carnegia Gigantea(Saugaro) was purchased from a lovely nursery who gave me an awesome $10.00 bargain. I like the fact it also came in a good quality terra cotta pot. The cactus is only 10 inches tall which lead me to the thought it was a younger specimen because I didn't realize how slow Saugaros grew. I'm excited too see this beauty in 20 years. Would love to see it crest which is very unlikely.
