Whats your sport?

Recommended Posts

In this thread you can list your favorite sports!

I just discovered the UFC for me as my new favorite sport. Though i did some boring karate in the past, i was never into martial arts till a few months ago. Not sure why it suddenly interested me. Anyone else interested in the Ultimate Fighting Championship?

I also love Football/Soccer though i dont like it as much as in the past. But as the World Cup 2010 is coming up soon, i can slowly feel the football fever. I really cant wait the match of germany vs Australia. But im still not sure which color´s ill be wearing that day. Probably a german shirt and my Australian Adidas Track Jaket.

I also like Golf though i rarely play it. It´s just a boring ass sport that i wanna play as soon as im retired.

When i was young, i played badminton but it wasnt the right sport for me. It just hadnt the same sex appeal as football.

hehe EG ive just started playing golf!!! goes great with z erb' i reckon!!

its so much harder than it looks! looking at getting my first clubs.. so exy but i wanna get some good ones.

gonna play my last season of rugby league with my hometown this year (although the average age of the team here is about 39 ;P) I dunno i kinda like the old school brutality of the country league out here ;P as well as the poor skill level ;P. I really enjoyed last season since ive moved back, and never thought i would hehe. I coach my nephews under 14's team as well.

I just turn up and play, im not much for the drinks afterwards and all that jazz (as i dont drink) nor do i really enjoy the boganic conversation hehe, but i do enjoy scoring the odd meatpie and pounding juiced up bogans :).Bonus is i dont have to turn up to training hehe.

Im not that much a fan of the modern rugby league game, it simply has no balls. I cant watch more than 10mins of todays league. League for me finished up when they started up the superleague and the winfield cup ended. That was an awesome game to watch. The game out in the bush here is still fairly reminiscent of the winfield cup days, and i do enjoy watching and playing in the local derbies.

Ive enjoyed training in various martial arts in the past, but totally lack the commitment these days.

My family has also fixed up the tennis courts here, and we are looking at starting up a winter round-robin. I love a bash on the tennis court but my serve has always been shit.Go alright otherwise!!

Ive always been involved in sports. I think its good for your body and mind.

Anyone else interested in the Ultimate Fighting Championship?

im addicted to UFC, it's the ultimate in raw & real fighting. people who dont understand are critical of the submission type way it goes sometimes, on the ground using brazilian ju jitsu to apply leg bars, tap outs and rear naked chokes. anderson silva is a freak, unbeaten in the UFC, randy cotoure age 46 a living legend, BJ Penn, newcomers like Demian Maii.

when i watch it sometimes i wiki the fighters to see their record and history, how their style came about....its interesting that in 95 when it was formed the first ones eg UFC 1,2,3,4 ... were basically no rules, no weight classes and no 3/5 rounds- first to lose. the political outcry was massive so they had to get rules to stop it being banned.

3 out of the 4 first tournaments, comprising of sumo's, boxers, mui tai's, wrestlers, karate with weight differences being up to 300 pounds between fighters sorted out the age old which is the overall best fighting style question. Royce Gracie strangled, twisted, submitted with ju jitsu close in, he wasnt very big either.

sugar rashad evans, he ended up losing his next fight i think, he fought at heavyweight and won ultimate fighter (UFC spinnoff where ordinary people via for a UFC contract) but he now is light heavyweight. i forgot to mention Brock Lesnar before (current heavyweight champ) he is the guy that spits everywhere in the UFC 110 promo, he is like Dolph Lundgren In rocky 4

rashad next fight got beat by rampage jackson who produced one of the if not the best knockout in MMA history with the slam from hell as shown below.

Ok...what i really meant to say was this...

I,ve always played some sor of ball sport. like soccer or rugby and even AFL, and some tennis and baseball...

so if you were to combine all these sports into one game...in a giant ball court 150m long by 30m wide ...with two ring one at each end the on the farthest walls. with a smallish, 20cm diameter rubber ball, and 5 people on each team, WITH NO RULES>...could call it ultimate ball.

and then at the end...collect all the heads.

i am totally building this court.starting tomorrow.

i also think there should be a goaly with a stick that can be used either to deflect the ball or to deflect any other moving object within range.

Im suprised how many guys are into the UFC though! Yesterday i was watching the fight of Randy Couture against The Truth Vera. I like Couture but i was surprised how the judges could declare him as the winner of that fight. Vera landed some very devastating kicks.

Santiago, i totally agree with everything you said there. I dislike Lesnar but i think thats probably just a normal reacting to a guy like him. I only saw one fight of him till now. Atm im catching up all the UFC events that i missed in the past. The next series im going to watch is the Ultimate Fighter series. It didnt come out in germany and thats why i missed all the seasons. That gives me great material to watch during the next months.

I like that slam from hell, man. It´s one of the few slams i ever saw that really hurt. bye Eg

big U.F.C fan here

having studied numerous arts over the last few decades i really like the realism of U.F.C

to see techniques applied in real time under stress is a great proving ground for certain styles/moves.

yeah and couture at 46 makes me feel a comeback at 45 may be possible :bong:

Cat killing...devil.gif

Sport fishin, tennis, cricket, surfing (semi-pro competition), chess, backgammon, hitting golf balls with tennis rackets, sling-shotting, the odd game of squash, Galaga ( I have an original sit down arcade console in my shed..I AM KING OF GALAGA.., chasing drugs, dancing badly longer than anyone, chasing and shagging women, horses, American football, snooker and darts.

My sporting claim to fame is that when playing cricket as a youngster for Bankstown, I was a fast bowler and bowled to Steve and Mark Waugh when they played for Liverpool, I only ever got Mark out when bowling, in fact I never saw Steve get out ever...he was just a legend and everyone knew it.

I did bowl a hatrick for my team once though..that was way cool. Another time whilst practicing bowling in the cricket nets at school, I had stolen the ivory white ball from the local bowling green club and brought it with me to school...this was when the white ball in cricket was just coming onto the scene and everyone was like wow man..a white ball...so I stole the lawn bowls pin ball and brought it school, pretended it was my new shit hot cricket ball, my mate Steve was in to bat, I was a really fast bowler when young, took a really long walk back and ran in to let fly with this white ivory bullet ball that no one knew what it was...

Man when this thing hit the concrete pitch and bounced basically you couldn't see it...the fucker took off from going 70ks out of my arm to about 500ks once it hit the concrete, it hit Steve fair and square in the nose, poor geezer didn't even see it comin to swing and hit, let alone get outta the fuckin way... I've never seen a nose get moved across someones face like that, it really was a very bizarre look...reminded me of that artist who used to paint eyes and nose's out of place but you could still tell it was a person.

So yeah I got nailed for that one by parents and what not..the ivory bullet was put aside, we brought it out again a few times and would dare each other to go in and face it but only with helmets and pads cause it could actually kill you if hit you in the wrong place.

life be in it..

Hi ThunderIdeal, do you mean dropped out in the sense of being dead or is he only leaving the UFC? I just thought about him while i was watching the fight of Randy Couture against Chuck Liddel. But yeah, thats exactly what im saying all the time because of roids and the heart. Just look at this youtube club that shows all the WWF Wrestlers that died before the age of 40.

Firetwirling is like sweet meditation, except lose focus and you concuss yourself.

Bodyboarding used to be a time to socialise and lose touch with the troubles of land locked life.

Spearfishing at one point had me interested but I think now I'd rather just snorkel or better yet, SCUBA.

Soccer in primary, rugby in high school and some tennis in there during primary too.

Amazing how much time was spent in the water actually considering my illogical fear of sharks :P

Can't say I really enjoy watching any sport other than the extreme type sports.

Peace

watchin the prelim for UFC 126 on one atm, gees what a terrific card. wont be able to watch it dont have cable.

anderson silva vs vitor belfort.......wow, silva is so damn good i reckon he would make bruce lee cry mama, belfort has experience and is a mean mofo..........tough fight for anderson but anderson is a freak of nature, anderson silva to win by submission.

forrest griffin vs rich franklin...two american poster boys who are video game characters, both former ufc world champions and similar dudes, forrest possibly lost all cred lately and franklin is seen as soft...great matchup, points decision to franklin.

and johnny bones jones vs ryan bader......both animals and totally different styles, both undefeated except for jones being dqed for kneeing a guy in the head...dont know heaps about bader but jones is so cool to watch, he pulls moves out of a movie and is called bones cos he uses elbows, knees...er bones haha...a really cool fighter. jones by knockout.a

event details below its this weekend, believe it or not the next ones in sydney.....sold out in record time so i hear.

cant wait to follow it on twitter and see the replays.
