minotaur Posted April 30, 2007 Adaptation - with Nicholas Cage, Hallucinogenic Orchids, etc Waking Life - trippy rotoscoping animation. Apparently the same director ( Richard Linklater ? ) used this technique with A Scanner Darkly, which I haven't been able to see yet but is top of my list of films to see at the moment. I like the animated movies of Hayao Miyazaki - Spirited away, Howls moving castle,

amanito Posted May 1, 2007 Everyone should see blueberry, it's a western with a guy who lives a long time with indians and visits them now and then. Peyote is very important. The camerawork and sound effects are unique, they aren't used much in this way. The visualisation of the tripexperiences are wicked. This movie is VERY good. I saw it on hash and special K and liked it a lot.
onz Posted May 2, 2007 Apparently Zhang's new film Curse of the Golden Flower also has an amazing use ov colour. yeh I read about it a few months ago whilste trying to find similar movies. Seen 1 preview on TV looks incredible will hire it when it comes out on dvd. Another one by Zhang which sounds promising is 'Shanghai Triad'. But I can't find it anywhere. on monday I hired 'shadowless sword'. A good movie similar to HOFD and hero but don't expect it to be as good. I found some of the camera angles during the fight seens abit annoying. Great soundtrack. Subtitled.

Torsten Posted January 24, 2008 saw 'layer cake' the other day and quite liked it. Sure, there is more blood and guts in most hollydwood production of this genre, but layer cake had just enough to keep it realistic for people like you and me.
Monk Posted January 24, 2008 That's funny, I just saw layer cake last weekend! I liked it, too, and thought it was like a more serious version of a lock-stockish movie. Loved the scene when they're cutting up the yeyo and they hear sirens outside. Priceless looks on their faces

holymountain Posted January 30, 2008 'waking life' is an excellent film. it tackles many deep metaphysical issues but somehow remains captivating. visually it is stunning as well. anyone that has ever tripped will enjoy it for the issues it deals with. pink floyd's the wall is amazing visually as well. the animations are fantastic but the plot is a bit of a downer so make sure you are aren't coming down too hard if you watch it. live at pompeii is amazing as well. the music is just...just...heavenly. a film called renegades has an amazing scene in it that you can watch at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=736NKsK86Uk . it was on sbs a few weeks ago under the name blueberry. i'd read about it as renegades in alex greys cosm magazine and was very happy with sbs for putting it on. anyway it has the best representation of a trip i've ever seen. i read an interview with the director by alex grey and he said that he and the animators drank ayahausca a number of times in order to get the visuals as accurate as possible. props to them for putting in the effort....2001 is stunning as well. you can synch the last scene up to 'echoes' by pink floyd and with or without drugs you will transcend space and time i promise. Ace Posted January 30, 2008 A few drug related scenes in Garden State. Quite an amusing and interesting watch. Definately an unusual story, but very touching. Also, Grandma's Boy is highly amusing and very pot-related. Definately great for a larf.
t st tantra Posted January 31, 2008 a couple excellent movies by otto preminger[sp?] the famous'man with the golden arm'.......a young frank sinatra plays a junky jazz drummer, very edgy, powerful music my favourite the almost unknown 'skidoo'........jackie gleeson is a retiring gangster who is told by 'god' to do one last job.he must go into jail an kill the competing head crim. frankie avalon is a cool dude in jail with envelopes dipped in acid, gleeson licks envelope, goes on first acid trip, really well done,he has marriage problems and sorts through them, its a musical by the way !!! and totally undiscribable, the whole prison is dosed ,dancing rubbish bins sequence, harry nilsson music score, groucho marx final movie, ends with groucho[god][the godfather] sailing off into the distance smoking a hookah!most people think its totally nuts. vanishing point the shout the cosmic eye t s t .
