-YT- Posted February 15, 2005 I went down to a DVD outlet to purchase Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas when i was told it is restricted in Australia!!!! OMG i thought havent not seen the movie only heard of it so begun my mission 4hrs and 768mbs later and i watched this great mind bending journey it was Awesome SO why is it banned theres no sex,violence, but plenty of drugs and language :D So i wanted to know who else loves this movie and where can i find out about the main character i heard its based on a true story?? Darklight Posted February 15, 2005 The book is indeed hilarious Much more so than the film IMO No idea if it or the film is banned or not, I checked the website of the Office of Film and Literature Classification and they'd approved the cinema ad for it, but the movie and the book don't get a mention... *edit* ... except when you tick the right box in the search engine. nabraxas Posted February 15, 2005 the book reviewed @ Amazon take everything Thompson writes about his drug consumption w/a big pinch ov salt. i'm sure i've read an interview where he said he exagerrated the truth to make the story more interesting. it's still a good read though. Dirty Old Man Posted February 15, 2005 My partner and I purchased a copy of the DVD from amazon.com although it is region 1 so you will need to have a multi region dvd player. You can burn divx files to DVD to make them watchable on a DVD player but I'm not sure of the specifics. Fenris Posted February 15, 2005 A friend of mine purchaced a Canadian copy from e-bay. Our DVD burner has no region specific so it was a simple case of copying to hard drive and burning in region free format. I have 2 copies, one for personal use only and one to lend to friends. Chemical Shaman Posted February 15, 2005 As far as I know Fear and Loathing was never released on DVD as region 4, I imported it from the states and converted it to region free. I gave away a lot of copies of Fear and Loathing to people for christmas The extras are ok, it's got Hunter S Thompson hanging out on the set with Johnny Depp and they show the filming of the scene with him in it etc. There are a few good extras there.
