Ambient Posted June 10, 2013 Are they going around in AU? I've never seen any available, but very interested to add one to my collection. PM me if you can help, I have lots to trade.
bogfrog Posted June 10, 2013 (edited) I've never seen actual plants for sale, but "crested" myrtillocactus seed shows up on ebay from time to time. No guarantees you will get a crest but i'd say its worth a try if you can't find a cut. Best of luck, i've been after this beauty for a while now too, it seems highly elusive Edited June 10, 2013 by bogfrog
lucid1 Posted June 11, 2013 I have seen one at a nursery in Western Sydney. I was told it could possibley be for sale but didnt have a price mentioned. Good Luck
Stillman Posted June 11, 2013 I've got one was a hamiltons plant.
GoOnThen Posted June 11, 2013 If you are able to take a small piece off it and graft it to propagate that would be really cool as they seem to be very hard to find. If they grow as fast as Trich crest's grafted onto pach you could have enough growth to cut it up and regraft a number of pieces in 12 months time. Just a thought . I am not trying to cut your grass Ambient. I am willing to trade a small Peruvian crest ( Hellonasty ) grafted onto pach stock to anyone in au that is willing to send a plant or piece ( that is able to be grafted ) of a crested Myrtillocactus geometrizans to Ambient Forest. I will work out the rest with Ambient. Cheers Got
Stillman Posted June 11, 2013 yeah I'll have to repot it. it hasn't done much since I bought it. I'll take a pic and show you what it looks like.

Mind you when I got it was almost bare rooted. So probably took a while to sort its self out.
GoOnThen Posted June 11, 2013 Nice. There really isn't any where you could take a bit off without leaving a noticeable scar. If it where mine I would let it keep growing as it is. I have been lucky with my Trich's. There has been lumpy growths hanging down low and so I could knick them off without leaving a scar that you can see. I also just chopped one small one I got into three pieces as soon as I got it and grafted all of the pieces onto Pach. Cheers Got
Stillman Posted June 11, 2013 yeah I think I will have to let it grow a bit before I try and do any surgery, but it was a hamiltons plant so its around for those looking.

Ambient Posted June 13, 2013 I've heard a bit about Hamiltons over the years, definitely sounds like a place worth checking out next time I'm on the East coast. It's a shame they don't deliver.
TheExplorer Posted June 13, 2013 Hamiltons definitely had a few at the last NSW Autumn show. I might be swinging past there tomorrow (or at least in the next week or two) so I'll have a look for you mate.

mutant Posted June 14, 2013 lol is it really a monster, or this happened from some other reason? there seem to be at least 3 strains of myrtillocactus monsters. one is breasty one is cresty and one is bit melting wax style
interbeing Posted June 15, 2013 lol is it really a monster, or this happened from some other reason? The cutting was from a crested plant . Cant wait to see how this one turns out, I'll update next growing season.
mutant Posted June 15, 2013 I will try to take a shot of a very big plant where I got one of my cuttings. It seems much monster and melting, but not so cresty. Maybe its similar train to yours?
Ambient Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) Cheers Explorer that would be schweet one is breasty one is cresty and one is bit melting wax style A mate of mine has a breasty, it's finally started to grow a little 2 Edited June 16, 2013 by Ambient Forest
mutant Posted June 16, 2013 ^^^^ very beautiful breast plant seems to blemish a lot so its lovers seem to re-root and start over a lot, as I would do with that plant, it pays to re-root a fatty cutting to startover
Hellonasty Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) I have a pretty large Myrtillo Crest that I could be persuaded to take a cutting for the right price, PM me. For info of everyone it grows incredibly slow ! even in the ground mine puts on like 10-15cm a year. Edited June 19, 2013 by Hellonasty
