Abbott pledges 'no fibs' if he wins election

Recommended Posts

TONY Abbott has promised no fibs and no surprises if he wins this year's federal election.

I don't love labor or anything but this guy would be a wrecking ball. Just look at how the states turned out once they let the libs in. They are not a political party, they are a branch of the rich who want to take everything they can from us.

I can't take the libs seriously with Abbott at the helms. I don't believe a word he says.

no surprises, no shit... there's little difference between the 2 parties and there's been little deviation from the political path regardless of who's been "in power", as long as government goes by either ALP or coalition we're all fucked

brothers and sisters of the earth take a step back and realise it's lose lose, the only hope is for the tired parties of old to crash and burn and for a radical new phoenix to rise from the ashes...

CHNT!

No surprises: we promise to screw you in every which way possible and do our best to make you think it's for the best. These people have no interest in social or environmental awareness and are only in it to make more profit for the wealthiest. Labour are marginally better but since they bought in to the economic system they haven't really made any important changes and they both need to go. Not even the greens are a viable option because they are just pissing around the edges once again just plying pressure but not really providing an alternative. We need something radically new and fresh. I wonder if we need to start something ourselves? I would do it if I had time but I think there is a problem with getting funds too. Who is going to pay for a political party that promises to break the economic system? No-one who's bought into it, that seems certain!

So if he gets elected off the back of such statements can we sue him for breach of verbal contract when he starts reneging on his promises and telling bullshit.

I really think that politicians should be held accountable for their promises and sacked when they are proven as liars. To gain political office through lies is to me a breach of contract with the electorate (the electorate being the employers).

If their statements are on the public record then they should be held to their word or sacked like you would be in the private sector if you are caught lying.

No lies?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Australian Sex Party. I don't pay too much attention to politics most of the time, but the ASP seem to be one of the few parties that have a level of integrity at the moment, perhaps more what the greens were like over a decade ago.

Given their position on civil liberties, including drug legislation and internet censorship, I could see them being a pretty popular choice here.

Youre fucking kidding. If you believe them to have integrity as leaders of a nation, then youre nowhere near as clever as you think you are.

I don't see anything indicating a lack of integrity in what you quoted. Stating your mission very clearly and then taking steps to advance that seems to me to be integrity. I think civil liberties are very important. Just because it began as a response to censorship of pornography doesn't mean that is the only issue they are tackling.

You could be right that they lack integrity. I really don't know. Do you have an example of where they've conducted themselves in a way that lacks integrity?

I never said they would be good leaders. None of the small parties have any expectation of actually leading the country. What I said was that "Given their position on civil liberties, including drug legislation and internet censorship, I could see them being a pretty popular choice here."

There's no perfect party, and its rare that I see a party that has even half a dozen policies that I would support.

The sex party has a much broader platform and anyone interested in individual rights [such as the right to chose what to comsume] would do well to have a closer look at them. They are the new greens now that the greens have shifted to the right. And no, you don't want such minor parties to govern - you want them to keep the major parties on their toes.

I do a lot of stuff with the sex party and I have no connections to the sex or adult industry. Their policy on drugs is the most progressive of any party - far more progressive than the greens. And most importantly they are not scared to talk about it. Ever tried to get a greens politician to make a comment on drug policy? Wimpy fuckers too scared for their political survival.

I quite like having a minority government. Especially one without the libs in it :) There's no perfect party alright , but when they are forced to work together and co-operate it's kinda democratic. Just how it was intended to be.

I'll be interested in checking out the minor parties and independents again, -better than the freaky right-wing religious zealot alternative anyway...

We have a bright future in this country if we can keep these bastards out.
