Idon'tstudydinosaurs Posted June 10, 2013 (edited) Trying to pot up and find new places to put all the cacti I got from Freaky Chicken. Thanks a lot man, there's heaps! Edited June 10, 2013 by PerthShaman
theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted June 11, 2013 Got some seeds poppin up indoors, the holy basil and lochroma hybrids are what's getting me excited right now! The lochroma will either be orange flower mum X purple flower dad OR just orange flowers depending in what the bees did... I really hope it's a hybrid! My cactus takeaways have come to life after 5 days, but I'm noticing some cobwebbing... What's the latest solution? Is it still a few drops of bleach and water in a spray bottle? My new terrarium is also coming to life. Everything's kickin along in there including my girls ornamental flowers, some sceletium cuttings, coleus and some random seed germinations I did on the fly. The viridis leaf cuttings seem to be going awesome too, from one common viridis leaf I have 7 suckers. The moon and Shipibo seem to have rooted now I just need some sprouts! In my indoor setup they seem to take 4-6 weeks to root and 6-9 weeks to have all the shoots up.

Shamanistic Posted June 13, 2013 Today I repotted my Alicia Anisopetala vine into the pot she shall remain until I move out and and can get her into the ground. It's a nice 50L pot so it should give her enough room for a while anyway. Might keep her inside of a night time for a few more weeks though. Featuring part of a cereus I've had for a few years. Speaking of Riveas Simhanda here are mine, I was very happy with the germination rate. Only 1 hasn't germinated so far.

tarenna Posted June 16, 2013 Planted beds with green manure to get ready for various Spring plantings. Fed and mulched lots of tropical species. Weeded lots of cacti pots and various garden beds. Enjoyed a sunny lunch. Hung out with my son, a big male Powerful Owl and a couple of Russet-tailed Thrushes later in the afternoon. Wooo...

theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted July 22, 2013 Today I repotted 40+ psycotria leaves that were well rooted and sprouting. I used pottingmix/compost/sand and still have bottles around them for humidity, still under CFL. I am however after nexus if anyone can help with a cut please... Gave everything a good water and shared some quite time with the vines. Growth spurt of the month goes to my lemon geranium
tarenna Posted July 23, 2013 tarenna your son is an owl ?? how come ? seriously you got a pet owl?? Haaa.. I just found this!!! Sorry I did not make myself clear in my post. My son is a young Homo sapiens - we went to the bushland/botanic gardens next door and hung next to a roosting Powerful Owl. Powerful Owls are Australia's largest Owl - they are 60cm + and need to eat the equivalent of a possum a night to survive.
Anodyne Posted July 26, 2013 ^^^ those things look great! I had never heard of them before, I see why they market them as "earth gems" - so colourful!
bogfrog Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) They actually do seem to be flourescent for the first few moments after you unearth them!! They arent a big producer but the leaves are edible and quite nice. I could send u some 'seeds' if you're keen. Edited July 26, 2013 by bogfrog

Leaves Posted August 13, 2013 (edited) I separated this baby Catha edulis (red) from its mother after layering. There was a huge spider on the bottom of the pot when I brought it inside for a pic, he's ok, I managed to get him back outside Hey bogfrog do you want to trade some of your earth gem seeds for something? They look awesome. Edited August 13, 2013 by Leaves
theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted August 14, 2013 Well seeing as I got a new fancy hothouse for seedraising I thought I'd take advantage of the lovely weather and sow a few weeks early 18 seed types down, now about 12 acacias to go. For the acacias I was going to mix up my own recipe; seedraising mix, sand, a. obtusifolia ground dirt. Probably 40/20/
Anodyne Posted August 14, 2013 I could send u some 'seeds' if you're keen. Thankyou, that's a very generous offer (I only just noticed ), but I think AQIS would have a fit. I should probably wait until there's an Australian supplier, I'm sure Diggers or someone will pick up on them eventually. @ Leaves: what is that fungus growing in with your Catha? Very cool!
theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted August 14, 2013 I saw that mushroom! Reishi? Ano, those v. africana seeds have had perfect germination almost ay! Thanks again
Anodyne Posted August 14, 2013 Others have reported the same d00d, so I'm glad they went to good homes Ganoderma: I wish all of my medicines looked that awesome!
Leaves Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) Yep, Ganoderma lucidium, black variation (Japanese origin, so yep Reishi). It is not growing from the pot, I just use different polypores that I haven't used as medicine as decoration all over my house/garden as they last a very long time. I would like to point out a unused resource I have been using for cooking/spice which is Pine pollen. The male parts on lots of Pinus sp. are just dumping tons of pollen everywhere at the moment and all you have to do is get a bucket or container and put it under the male flowering parts and give a tap and before you know it you will have a container filled with this great tasting substance. I just sprinkle into porridge or mix it in with honey 50/50. The photos don't do the colour justice, the pollen is fluro yellow to the eye.
