I know a lot don't like it, but I enjoyed it, however found myself crying like a wiener in the final episode it was embaressing , though I cried in the "derek " series as well. I find myself crying a lot in movies, shows lately.

bogfrog Posted October 2, 2014 I recently watched The Outlaw Michael Howe... thought it was pretty damn awesome actually. great soundtrack, exceptionally beautiful scenery. very well done. "In 1815 a young convict leads a wretched guerrilla army of outlaws, deserters and bushmen in open rebellion against the morally corrupt government on the notorious prison Australian settlement of Van Diemen's Land. As their numbers grow by the day, Michael Howe's gang threaten to overrun the colony. An epic story of love and betrayal, The Outlaw Michael Howe will chronicle the astonishing true story of the man who pushed Australia to the brink of civil war." ...and this one probably belongs in the disturbing films thread, but it was still a pretty good watch, rather squirm-worthy and almost obscenely creepy at times but yeah.. humans are quite fucked up anyway so its no grand stretch of the imagination to conceive of such things being possible one day.. ANTIVIRAL "Syd March is an employee at a clinic that sells injections of live viruses harvested from sick celebrities to obsessed fans. Syd also supplies illegal samples of these viruses to piracy groups, smuggling them from the clinic in his own body. When he becomes infected with the disease that kills super sensation Hannah Geist, Syd becomes a target for collectors and rabid fans. He must unravel the mystery surrounding her death before he suffers the same fate."
FancyPants Posted October 6, 2014 I watched this recently (while in SUBspace) and I'm still gobsmacked by how much I LOVED this movie - I have zero doubt the SUBentities were enjoying it equally through me. Ridiculously cool, ridiculously awesome music, ridiculously smart and irreverent at the same time. Also hello? ethnobotanical references! For me it's in the top three genre movies of all time (The Crow, Interview with the vampire). Right after watching I ordered the CD and vinyl online. Try and watch in blu-ray/HD, also is pretty much made for subspace lol. I don't think I'd ever seen a Jim Jarmusch film but now I can't wait to see them all. Never thought movies like that could seem relatable in any way? Think again...

DiscoStu Posted November 22, 2014 i'm willing to overlook the logical inconsistencies and gaping plot holes of edge of tomorrow because it was a reasonably entertaining flick, i do like tom cruise's sci-fi movies though, despite the fact he's a throbbing chode
Rabelais Posted November 23, 2014 Interstellar Going into the cinema I had some reservations, I didn't like the thought of watching such a long movie (3hrs) outside the comfort of my living room. But I didn't even notice, the movie hooked me and I completely forgot about the length of time I was sitting there. If you like smart sci-fi like 2001, you will love it. Go see it at the cinema before it wraps up.

FancyPants Posted January 19, 2015 ^^^ A little slow to start but I thought it was pretty damn funny. "A moustache! A moustache! If you've only got a moustache!" Watched Birdman at the movies the other day. We didn't know what it was about. Really incredibly filmed and great storyline. Intriguing. Quite funny in parts and depressing in others. Have been relying on suggestions for movies lately and some were quite disappointing. Some, like Brasil, were awesome for what they were but not knowing how depressing it was a big bummer, especially since I thought "surreal" = "trippy" = "good times"... The Fountain was an amazing movie, I could really imagine Hugh Jackman and his wife sitting through an aya ceremony. I must admit the symbolical part of Hugh's past character taking of the Tree Of Life being so sexual, was a little uncomfortable to watch. He's such an incredible actor I felt kind of like I was watching him make love with his wife. A Scanner Darkly I thought was brilliant. The film style so original and effective I'm surprised others haven't done it more often. Guardians of the Galaxy so childish I had to laugh. Maleficent the same. I know they're meant for kids and the girl-power vibe of Maleficent was really interesting, but you know how it is in altered states where it's very easy to pick apart the cheesiest shots and acting... both watchable and enjoyable in 3D though. I've never seen any Star Trek besides five minutes of the old tv show but decided to ignore any preconceptions and watch the newest two movies done recently and really quite enjoyed them. Not childish or cheesy but still fun. Really cool in 3D. Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead. Reliving childhood again, better than I remembered lol. TV ROTS your brains! Reminds me I've got to find My Stepmother Is An Alien on DVD. Dead Man was really interesting! Couldn't get into the other Jarmusch movie "Ghost Dog" though... Was so excited to finally watch Crystal Fairy, but really disappointed. Michael Cera's character was such a fuckhat I wanted to punch him several points in the movie. Perhaps there was some reflection of what I have been like (can be like) in his character that put me off it, to be honest. Does anyone have a copy of Day Of The Dolphin? I've tried to find it in stores to be ordered in but it's not in circulation anymore. I bought a copy of Enter The Void and The Acid House online and they didn't work. Watched TAH via youtube and thought that should've come with a warning "not actually funny but horribly depressing..." I don't mind watching downer movies if they're good, but only if I'm in the mood. Anyone have any suggestions for altered states kind of movies that have good (or at least not depressing) vibes with lots of visuals? In HD/bluray/3D even better? DELETED ACCOUNT Posted January 19, 2015 watched The Interview. Absolutely terrible. I read this and thought... really? I loved it! Then realised you weren't talking about this great Aussie psychological thriller. I don't think I'll bother with Seth Rogan's one... A Scanner Darkly I thought was brilliant. The film style so original and effective I'm surprised others haven't done it more often. I liked this too, as well as Frank Miller's Sin City which is a similar live action / cartoon hybrid style. I recently saw Chef with Jon Favreau, it's a pretty nice movie. Lots of close-up food porn scenes, too. I also re-watched The Game from the 90s, it's a great example of a modern film-noir thriller. After Wall Street, Michael Douglas seemed to have played the same type of character several times
