Hellonasty Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) That first pic looks very much like a "witches broom" infection. Be careful if this is the case it can spread to other plants and eventually kills the plant infected. On the upside It can take years to kill the plant and many people like the form it creates. bℓσωηG Posted December 28, 2009 interesting..... is it viral?
PhoenixSon Posted December 28, 2009 how can you tell if its a witches broom infection?
Hellonasty Posted December 28, 2009 I'm no expert on it, I have seen a few plants with it and it looks like what you have. It is viral and thus next to impossible to treat/cure. Your best bet is to do a Google search and make your own mind up.
watertrade Posted December 28, 2009 I have one of the same plants from incognito which is doing the same thing - I will get some pics.

incognito Posted December 31, 2009 i have a few kk339's that also pup profusely. may just be the genetics?? i will post a pic of my most mature kk339's soon. its a handsome cactus. So glad to see peoples cacti that i have traded and given away doing so well, especially as recently i have come under fire from a few newbs for my trading ethics, so much so ive decided not to trade, give away for a good while. If anyone has anny issue with trades gone by (im so paranoid about this now) please let me know asap and i will will fix you up 10fold. alot of my trades this past year have been late, ad i have tried very hard to fix everyone up with extras included. i know its a sob story well pressed here, but 09 has been an uber hectic year, both proffesionaly, academically and personally for me, and mid year i was juggling all this plus doing more trades than i could keep track of, which i have learned from. I hate upsetting anyone, and having anyone angry at me. I do consider myself a generous human beingm and nothing makes me happier than GIVING a plant to a gardener that i know will appreciate, and give as much love , and look upon it with as much wonder as i do. Plants, with particular attention to the entheogenic plants, have changed my life irrevocably, for the better. Was meant to happen i think. I do not use them hardly at all anymore, (i believe once you have received the message, hang up the phone ) But i am so glad they came into my life when they did, they have helped changed my entire world view, how i view myself, others, and nature. I truly believe i am a more concious human being because of them, and for that i thank the plants, this site, and all of you that i have met along the way. seriously. anyhoo end of rant, i guess what i could do is put a KK339 pachanoi up for a giveaway, gotta think of something cool but. Maybee a 150 word essay about world peace that must meantion kk339 (4 times) , oh and 'Incognito truly is my Sexual God'. And it has to rhyme : ).

PD. Posted December 31, 2009 recently i have come under fire from a few newbs for my trading ethics and so you should you unethical bastid LOL, why let a few noobs get ya down about trading incog, im sure i have forgotten a trade here and there and im often late with posting and by late i mean a week or two not 6 months haha. Most ppl here know that it all gets there eventually, hell if ya purchase something from an online store it often takes a month or more to get ya goods. Trade burnout is easy to be afflicted by tho, its a pain in the arse when ya got 15 packages to send out, its constantly on ya mind to get off ya arse and head to tha PO and then once they are sent there is another 15 more that need to be packed and sent (plus the 3 from the previous lot that you couldnt send because they werent healed, needed larger boxes, ran out ofr packing material, no tape, marker pen is fukd, its friday, dude hasnt sent me his addy yet, shit i better buy smokes with the last of this money etc etc etc)

kakti Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) I have a couple of KK339's that have between 4-7 pups, certainly more than your average Trichocereus. It looks like one of the pups in the first picture had its tip damaged, thereby forcing the cactus to continue with more pups. But then when I see pups coming off the sides and stuff.....are you guys sure BAP wasn't applied somewhere in there? Because if not I'm 99% sure you have Witches Broom. And if that is the case you do definitely want to keep them separated from the rest of your collection as the virus can spread to nearby plants fairly easily. I've seen entire forests infected with 100s of trees next to each other suffering from it. Edited May 8, 2010 by kakti
