  1. ^ I told him to use sulfur, I don't think he has any on hand and seems to think this method works and has had some sales in the last week with happy customers it looks, sending via this method. I'll let him know go easy on the heat etc... There's actually heat settings on most heat guns, even setting to blow cool air, not heated air... They're like glorified hair driers man. I'll tell him to go easy on the heat anyway if hes gonna go that route. Cheers Inyan. No other horror stories from anyone involving accidentially cooking their cactus doing anything like this? lol

  3. ^ I dont know how easy you think it is to import internationally into Australia (literally one of the hardest). Especially kilograms of organic matter from where? Likely 'The Americas' (HOT HOT HOT area). If you are successfully importing kilograms of organic matter, you'd make sure its benign powder containing at least 80% of one of the following things: (heroin, ice, cocaine, mdma, ketamine etc etc) not some suspect bags of green shit containing 1% mescaline. Hes flogging the KG's for cheap too, you wouldn't risk lengthy imprisonment for a couple hundred dollars a KG, for your kilos you'd be wanting to make a couple hundred thousand. Its not like customs are going to find it, and read the label 'incense' and allow it in. Its plant matter from OS... No easier or less scrutinized to import than a brick of chaz, harder in fact, would take up more space as its less dense. Maybe unless they figure out its mescal containing though the consequences would be much less severe. It could be Aussie Gardeners, not importing (not breaking the law), and not ingesting (swallowing) anything from the cactus. Material grown domestically (like tanning barks) sold for purposes other than propagation or consumption, e.g. incense and tanning/dyes, meat smoking. If this were true it'd mean what was for sale would be known ethical grown & harvested (no wild outcrops anywhere in aus) vs these barks going around that could be potentially raped from the wild, even though they all try to tell you the trees are plantation harvested. I wouldn't say its an international importer. - It might be a scammer selling powdered cereus as powdered loph. - It could be also a scammer taking your payment, and ordering from an international seller to your doorstep, and when you get a knock from customs/AFP then its your issue, not his... - It could be a legit Aussie Tricho grower growing for incense production, maybe hes trying to pass powdered TBM as powdered LOPH, who knows? The chips look like chips, I doubt the peyote would be in full/sliced dried form though, that one is nearly too good to be true. Is the production and trade of trichocereus/cactus based incenses, made domestically still illegal? Is it considered a 'preparation' therefore illegal? Even if human consumption of this 'preparation' was never the intention?
  4. Hey Sabers, I am looking at buying some tricho cuts from a fella on eBay, heres the link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Trichocereus-Pachanoi-Peruvianus-Pscho0-YOWIE-San-Pedro-Cactus-Cuttings/302729461111?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=601596245797&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 Anyway, he proposes to take the cuts, use a heat gun to quick-dry them, then mail same day. Basically just using the heat gun to get them safe for postage, not a speed-callous or anything so they can be potted up faster. Nothing like that. Simply to dry them so they're safe for shipping same day. Once I receive the cuts I will allow them to air dry/callous naturally over another 10-14 days before potting up. Just wondering; - Is this a bad idea? - Will exposing the bare open flesh to (dry fan forced) heat induce rotting vs callousing and potentially fuck the flesh at all? - Anyone see any issues with this, should I tell him to hold onto them for an extra week before mailing (maybe inconvenient for him), or should this method be OK? Thoughts? Again its just for postage & not so they can be potted up any quicker. Once received they will be left for another fortnight for further drying before potting up. The seller packs well, using only paper and cardboard and packing peanuts (breathable and somewhat desiccating), no plastic anywhere. Have had two orders in the last fortnight and they were perfectly packaged, but rooted plants (TBM's).
  5. I guess given the circumstances then a first name wouldn't be entirely terrible or a breach of security too badly. But that is just my opinion mate and I don't speak for the whole of SAB. I will PM you now, tell me their first name and I'll let u know if anyone I know shares that first name, and will run it by another friend of mine whos been balls deep in the scene for a decade+ SA and especially VIC seem to have a super strong cactus fraternity going on. You may find who you're looking for.
  6. Call it something that doesn't have your name attached to it then, but also not the same name as another known clone e.g. 'Sharxx Blue' lol... Call it; Throbbing Blue / Blue Bag / Blue Ball(s) / Sharxx Spew / Spew Blue / ^ Lol anything other than something exists already, untill proven that they're the same. What do you mean? You remember the guys name, or at least his first name, but have forgotten what his SAB name was & cant track him down on FB? There's probably a few first names that are unique to the cacti growing fraternity that you could drop and peeps might lead you in the right direction, thats if they're well known. But if they are 'well known' you probably wouldn't have any dramas finding them via fb anyway (maybe ur not on fb though)? If you cant remember them entirely, then they probably cant remember you entirely man, nor will remember if what they gave you a decade ago was genuine sharxx blue. I guess they may know themselves if they were ever propagating genuine Sharxx though, so could prove fruitful - would be a long shot.
  7. ^ Fkn A. I've got 11 TBM's from him in the last fortnight, all have been spectacular specimens. Bout to pull the trigger on another 3 TBM + Two Yowie tips. Pictures look legit, double spinature etc check it: But yeah I wouldn't buy that cactus labeled as Sharxx Blue and continue to grow it & pass it throughout the community with that label knowing the original propagator (yourself) wasn't CERTAIN of its origins. I'd be hitting up your last sale or two of the sharxx blue and tell em its a 'Glod Blue' potentially sharxx but not 100% - so they themselves dont pass it around etc... "nightmare"
  8. Don't flogg it as 'Sharxx Blue' unless you're 100% sure it is Glod. That's how clones get fucked bro, too much mislabeled shit floating around: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Trichocereus-Pachanoi-Peruvianus-Pscho0-YOWIE-San-Pedro-Cactus-Cuttings/302729461111?hash=item467c14fd77:m:mQSCcDkaZg5dunI3ok162tw Your Yowie looks legit, Psycho0 too... Call the Peru, 'Glod Peru' fell the whole thing and release it as a new clone. Tell peeps u think it MAY be sharxx blue but not 100% certain, and for them to test its origins with known sharxx blue pollen should their cuttings ever mature and flower and provide the opportunity to check for sure themselves etc. EDIT: And another: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Trichocereus-Peruvianus-SHARXX-BLUE-San-Pedro-Cactus-73-cm/302737139342?hash=item467c8a268e:g:8QIAAOSwuHJa98UP

Hey, @moon_unit I had you mistaken for @MoonUnitBotanica Was looking for a cut of "Boultwood" that apparently originally came from him. Looks like he hasn't been on SAB for months and months though, hes active on ebay, probably FB, and has a website of his own. If I did send you a PM, discard it, but i think I actually sent BOTANICA the PM who hasn't replied, then I saw you and bailed you up thinking you were him (very similar names). Happy gardening anyway moon_unit. Enjoy our Pachamama and the fruits she bares.
  10. Man thats beautiful... Are they related to Lohophora at all?

  12. Hey PMing you now mountain goat - id like some tricho cuts, maybe and some dragon fruit cuttings, maybe a caapi cutting or two as well. Was this a typo and did you mean T. Peruvianus "MG Red Spine" - aka 'MG red pine Peru' (medicne garden clone?) Or is SG red spine peru something else all together? Interested in those fields pachs too - the first specimen you sold me (of fields pach) is powering mate - doubed in size with a fat head so i lopped it in half and its an epic propagation stump now + fat new tip. All trichos from you have been ace, Kai bridge i got two tips out of plus a stump with roots - J3 just POWERING along zero need for cutting, gotta pot up or get it in ground ASAP, shot an impressive large new pup/limb too.
  13. I wish I could ride BMX like this bandit:
  14. The user @communacacian sells tubestock of many different acacia species. I recommend the rare and endangered 'Acacia Courtii' for sydney climate, quite easy to keep alive mate. Commy sells them, maybe has a decent sale on once or twice a year. PM him and see if he can help you out. Hes had obtusifolia, confusa, acuminata (narrow & broad), phlebophylla, and courtii all in the past. All your rarer more desirable acacias. Give him a shot. My courtii are 10ft+ tall now after 12 months from seedlings from him, stoked with the resilience & heartiness & ornamental/aesthetic appeal of these trees too. They are native to a few mountains on the mid north coast (very small area) bout 3-4 hrs north of Sydney.... So should do well where you are. I'm 4 hrs south of Sydney here, right on the water (wind and salt) and they do fine. Good luck Jon.B & Welcome to the forums too bro.
  15. ^I will never leave. I just want to expand maybe and see whats out there. Even just for SAB on fb if its got all the same people and more? EDIT: Appologies for derailing thread.
  16. I'm avoiding FB, never ever have been on it, shit intimidates me... The bloke 'zuckerburg' is facing the US senate over mass privacy breaches and shit, the fact you have to use all your contact details & name etc is worrying... BUT everyone is saying "GET ON DAT SHIT YO" for all your plant, cacti and ethno needs, also 'fb group' type like minded individuals, entire world to connect with. Still I cant quite pull the trigger yet, dunno why... The majority (if any) aren't coming here with the intention to break the law mate, so I'm not sure if we have to all be so worried with our IP's using vpn's etc... The darknet is for that kind of shenanigans... We're a bunch of growers enjoying the garden for the most part bro. Its good to stay ahead of changes of law so we can clean garden in case anything becomes scheduled etc. SAB is good for info regarding these changes etc, SAB is good for heappppps of info. I wonder what the facebook side of SAB is like, what goes on there? - I should get on FB... What are your theories regarding the downturn in traffic here at SAB mate? I'd assume its mostly FB, considering there is a SAB side of things over on facebook too? Makes some sense to just all shift over there and use the SAB group amoungst other groups too? .... Its just.... Does/can FB profile what kind of person you are simply by all your interests, and if they are ONLY of ethno / notorious plants / other related topics do and can they like, sound the alarm if an individual is considered 'suspect' ? I'm sure they can and would do that shit with like arab kids looking at sharia law, matyr style shit, extremists etc... Worrying.
  17. Nice plants WB, damn tassy grown too - interesting.... Grats Smithy, top piece, great price. Would of got it myself, so quick you are!

Yeah I'll retire & die here me thinks, no chance we would ever sell unless absolutely forced to, the cactus in ground reinforces this for me. Should be an impressive garden when its complete. Everyone's welcome to come check it out.
  19. dont cha love it when you manage to lead someone ELSE on, (never happens) lol... sorry whorse. Nah i have a phucked windows phone, Get a hub profile going - I like to follow up n coming new entertainers, regardless of sex/uality. Sorry for being a prick/hole tease if it came across that way. I hate when I get led on too, I get an ache in my sack that Mrs Palmer can't even sort. I'm not on FB or anything, I should get on it soon. Everyone is saying fbfbfbfbfb! for cacy & plants, I just don't want to bump into exgirlfriends or old acquaintances. But yeah get on xhamster cams or pornhub if you can ever be arsed. Silk balaclavas + live shows, make a name for yourself!

I had Rosei and Yowie flower same time, fresh pollen was used to cross both clones, yeah I didn't try to use the yowie pollen on the yowie itself, I transported it to the rosei and visa versa. Premature removal of the rotten flowers potentially too close to the column or a not liberal enough powder puffing with the pollen is my guess as to the lack of results(?). Winds can pick up here and blow the flowers around a fair bit too, maybe they get severed at the base if they blow around too violently.

I like the Cycad in the center with the golden ball in the guts. We had a female about same size throw a huge seedpod already, this one is different, it might be a male... Could be throwing new leaves but it looks strange man, bit of a mystery at this age (more than a decade old).

My old man purchased the block like 35 years ago, vacant and has been slowly building it up ever since. Hes a sparky (so am I, just not a very good one) and a owner/builder. He's the one with the skill & the vision. I just help with the heavy lifting & buy the plants. Nothing was here, we did it all ourselves... Built the retaining walls, moved tons of rock down a cliff face (steep block) to build the retaining walls... Shitloads timber sleepers cage and stone... And soillllll... Will have more pics over the next 2 months, we're aiming to have the other side of this tier finished & planted out before winter.

I don't think I pollinated correctly, we didn't get any fruit. Although my mum came through like a week after I pollinated with the shits and cut the rotten flowers off the cactus, but its the bases of the flower pods that create the fruit anyway isn't it, the bases were left attached but still no fruit... She might of cut em too low/close to the column. I wasn't really ready, or expecting, or really knowing what to do when shit flowered lol, was beautiful to see though. I will be better prepared next time. I doubt ill get many flowers next season, I reckon a lot of my flowers were stored energy from the larger plants they were cut from.
