    eBay/Gumtree finds

Hey there B! The cut was slightly over a metre, it would have been rooting in the ground for no more than 4 months or so when it flowered. And yes, any PC X Peru seeds I sent out were pollinated with this peruvianus. I also had a fruit of Yowie X Peru which was this peru's pollen but only Zelly and I have those seeds so far. The fruit was TINY and I also left it way too long in the fridge and had to dig the seeds out of the sticky flesh to send to him.... whoops! So I'm yet to sow any of those myself too. But I may send a few of those out to lucky people once I dig the rest of the seeds out of the dried fruit in the near future. Pics of the "lawyer peru" flowering. (it didn't accept any of the pollen I tried to give it unfortunately)

    Wanted in WA: Stenocereus pruinosus

Check your local bunnings stores, (if you have some local ones), as they are very common in bunnings over here. Would be worth a shot at the very least. But be aware you'll have to be able to ID them when they're between 3 inches up to about a foot tall as that's the size range they usually have available and whilst I've seen lots I've never seen one labelled with species correctly.

    eBay/Gumtree finds

It's been growing at a lawyers place and it was there when he bought the property 13 years ago. That's all he could tell me about it last year when I went out there to get some cuts. He said it had never flowered for him. One of my cuts flowered for me last summer though. I've sent some seeds out with it being the pollen donor. It has a very strong prostrate habit only getting a maximum of about 6 or 7 feet tall before snaking along the ground instead.(Edit) I didn't name it anything BTW, I think "lawyer's peru" has just stuck for now as a way to identify it. I'm certain lots of people would have this clone with a different name or no name at all.

    Arid art macrogonus /macrogonus

The story I heard was that it was sold by a vendor who's no longer in business that was called Arid Art for quite a while. Some good pics in the thread below. http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41315

Acacia Superpack Gift / Seed Dispersal Project

Fantastic competition communacacian! I will edit this post tonight to add pics of my little family of seed grown acacias as I forgot to take some pics this morning. [edit] - my addition to this thread is pathetic. I've only just started trying to grow a couple of varieties in the last few months. left to right - A acuminata small seed - A acuminata narrow phyllode (going much better than the small seed sown at the same time) - a tiny A denticulosa which has grown very little over the last 3 months or so. I'll be putting the narrow phyllode acuminata in the ground soon. And hopefully trying my hand at some other acacias this spring with the view to end up with a nice little forest.

    eBay/Gumtree finds

Quote, sure is! I'd recommend going out there if anyone's nearby, it's about 1.5 hours each way from me or I'd go get some more pieces.

    eBay/Gumtree finds

It is! I have numerous pieces from when he had it advertised a year or so ago as "cactus". He asked what it was at the time and I wrote down trichocereus peruvinaus for him, I guess he's an echinopsis fan though. ;) And the PC X Peru seeds I gave away recently were pollinated with this plant's pollen.

    Hass avocado from seed

Hey Bullit, since you obviously know your shit about avos, do you have any recommendations for a good variety that grows well and sets a decent amount of fruit in the Adelaide region? I have heard the "bacon" cv. is suppsed to be good in the cooler climates like here and Melbourne but read it only fruits for about 2 months of the year.
  9. This must be the most boring giveaway we've seen on SAB lately. So to make it more slightly less boring you have to post an interesting fact about cactus, (exceptionally interesting facts about other plants may be accepted at my discretion ), to be elegible to get some seeds. Links to read about more cool stuff and awesome pics will be appreciated as extras to your fact. 5 envelopes packed and ready to go. Each one contains a pack of each of my hybrid trich seeds from last summer as listed below Yowie X Bird's Bondi Scop PC pachanoi X Bird's Bondi Scop PC pachanoi X Peruvianus (pic below) Two random packs have extra seeds in them. 1 has Psycho0 X Yowie 1 has Bridgesii OP (incog's fuckup) First 5 facts of interest posted below will be accepted.

The most boring giveaway on SAB

Cheers for all the facts guys! You've all helped make this thread much more intersting that it was when I started it. EG Bardo convergence Olive Terrapin You guys got in first with facts so you're the seed winners! There were definitely some pretty damn interesting things amongst them and the links to read, even if we did get a bit heavy on the prickly pear facts! haha! So if the winners PM me your addy's the seeds can go out to you as soon as I get them. You could be sowing them before next week is up just in time for spring! Woot! If anyone feels like adding more facts and info to this thread just for shits and giggles they will also be appreciated.

    ID please

Gorgeous. Looks a lot ilke roseii #2 at a glance, but it's surely a nice peruvianus of some type.
  14. Thanks for your work KT, I always enjoy reading your thoughts and research. Apologies if this does not belong here or has already been mentioned in the posts above, (I have only read up to 1935 and your long "wrap up" post at the end so far but I'm working my way through it!), but Sacred Succulents have just sent an email out with this interesting snippet inside. Any chance anyone has pics of SS's plant they are speaking of to compare to the German plant the description was made on? They say it is distinct from T Peruvianus also but don't mention why it's different. From what I've gleaned so far it seems that it's really only the shorter distance between areoles that can be used to identify a plant is a macrogonus rather than peruvianus as all the other features mentioned seem to be so dependent on the growing conditions and the time the plant is observed/recorded that I don't see how they can be relied upon to make a distinction. Even then some of those distances mentioned by Riccobono and Berger could well fall into peruvianus territory......

Amazing giveaway communacacian. Way to join the forums with a bang! Apart from A denticulosa that's about the only one I can ID with much certainty! But phlebs are pretty disctinct I suppose...

    Morels South West

Awesome pics! I've only ever found a single morel here last year. Wish there were more.
  19. A guy called [edited] screwed a bunch of people via facebook a number of months ago too. Might be the same guy. I think he has been on here for a large number of years too but I wont say the username I think he uses just yet. He was very well known on here as adding some new clones to the Aus community. [edit] Micoz beat me to it. [edit #2] - and before any one gets pissy with me for posting that image, it comes up with a google search of the mobile number he's using, so it's not my fault if his details are available online. I also have no idea if they're still up to date, of course. [edit 24-08] This had been up more than long enough. If you really need to know what I edited out, PM me.
  20. I have some large, unrooted tip cuts of pachanoi for sale. All are very fat and healthy. I have some between 1 metre and 2 metres each. Minimum purchase of 1 metre. $0.40 per cm. Can be posted but 1 metre is the limit for Australia post so if you buy 2 metres I'll have to cut it in half and you'll get a 1m tip and a 1m log. Can also arrange pick up or drop off within Adelaide's southern suburbs. (postage at buyers expense if required) I am also open to trades.

New member, heres some of my cacti

Put up an ad in the "wanted" section or keep looking at the "for sale" listings, people are often happy to post cactus to WA anyway. You'll get one soon if you look!
