Turned this: Into these: Seems to have been a 100% success rate even with a little bit of red fungal stuff showing up since it decided to rain right after I grafted. crest1 crest2 No pics of the slab grafts since they are still rubber banded.

Sucks about the variegate! Here's mine.... considering putting it on it's own roots as it already has some showing. Had another graft but the stock shriveled up and rotted before I could catch it killing the scion -

Monster and semi-monster bridgesii 's : general phenotype discussion
djmattz0r replied to mutant's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I have seen what you mention with the etiolation from a fat cutting during the start of a growing season. Had this happen when I first started collecting... (the TBM in the white square pot) Some of my TBMs seem to switch between short and medium growth even when the short ones grow normal and fat sitting right next to the others. I would like to eventually take one of each of my suspected different kinds and put them in near identical conditions (pot size, soil, light levels etc) let em grow out a few years and try to see if there's actually major environmental factors playing a role in their size/shapes. I only showed pictures of short and suspected short/medium types, I have some monster long form as well but didn't bother with pics. -

Glad this thread was started, was recently having conversations with people about this specific topic. I always thought there were multiple crest types and at least 3 TBM types as zelly has shown. Glad you finally got that clone A in the ground! I had given my pops a TBMC which was throwing a nice dick and then a deer came and gobbled it off. Damn cockgobblers.... Here's some pics of a few of my penii. not sure what this one would be considered, kinda shows both types of cresting and the random dick growth... was a cutting from my dad's plant. Curvy shlong short clumping type this one I have taken some grafts of and had some insect damage... -
All good now. Thanks

Looking for a cutting of this beauty that has eluded me so far. Have tons to trade or cash money. I am in the US so would be great if someone had one available domestically but I would be willing to fork out some some dough if anyone wanted to help me out internationally as well Thanks!

Help with ID on these please
djmattz0r replied to djmattz0r's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
Thanks for the help you guys! The 2nd one is apparently Myrtillocactus schenckii after asking my boss about them, so upside you were right -
Found a couple of unlabeled flats at work and was curious as to what they were. Co-worker had no idea either first: second: (kinda reminds me of a myrtillo but not blue...) Thanks in advance!

Help IDing 27 Picture Album
djmattz0r replied to doxneed2c-me's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
in reverse... Row 7 photo 2 = Pseudolithos migiurtinus Row 6 photo 3 = no idea. some bulb thingy, maybe an ipomea? Row 4 photo 3 = haworthia of some type maybe obtusa? Row 2 photo 3 = euphorbia ? Row 1 photo 1 is TBM as Alienteaparty said Row 1 photo 2 appears to be a monstrose trichocereus possibly pachanoi? Row 1 photo 3 + 4 also haworthia of some sort Agree that they are all beauties and look very healthy! and btw there is a sub forum for identification of cacti and succulents -
Took the back plastic off the hoop house and weeded. Now it looks nicer and won't be as much of a sauna during these warm sunny days. Before: After: My plan is to put a bunch of cuttings I currently have rooting into clay pots and stagger them in the available space between cacti until it fills out a bit more then they will be easy to move to other locations.

I would let them get a bit bigger before separating them all but I know some people separate them pretty early and have little problems so maybe do half and half? See what works best

Moved all my cacti outside for the 2nd time, had some great weather then a quick cold snap so they all came back inside to prevent damage to growing tips. Hopefully that was the last freeze for my area this year (fingers crossed) don't make fun of my orange bucket

This is a chunk of cactus I just impale grafted onto a pereskiopsis and then threw a ton of BAP all over it. Stalled for a while and pupped massively at the end of the season, finally starting to grow again variegated TBM and variegated pach crest also starting to put on new growth

The only time I see it a necessity to sterilize is when removing rot and infected portions of a cactus as it can easily spread with the blade. It is good to sterilize as others have mentioned to help prevent things rather than as a necessity for grafting but it does get tedious. I also see more failures from ambient weather conditions than I do from something caused by a dirty blade, but that's just my 2 cents.

I think that's what the little black ants must be doing on my crested chollas, farming some sort of delicious parasite.
