What did you do to your cacti today?

My first cacti grafts worked. Pretty happy with that. Thanks Wert.

One looks like its flowering and the other multiplying after twoish months.

What did i do today. Looked at them and smiled.

Congratulations mate.

Watching them grow is priceless.

Now... do some more.

Adopted a beautiful bridgesii, and put him in the corner!

Cacti multiply like rabbits!

You might want to take them out of the corner into an area that receives more sunlight

They get about 2 hours direct per day. No worries, just gradually getting them to full sun. Some coming out of hybernation , others wintered under shade cloth. That bridgesii has lived forever in a hothouse. Planning full sun buy may 1.

Got home from late from work the other night.

Spotted this little fecker on a astro lotusland graft.

Suffice to say he lived minutes after tucking into the flower.

I bloody hate snails and slugs!!

And green caterpillars!! On other plants!

Some new plants arrived from a nursery in Germany this week. Turbinicarpus schwarzii, Epithelantha micromeris , that one, unusually for this species had a pup, and was a freebie from the nursery. Thelocactus lausseri, Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus, and a tiny but expensive Aztekium ritteri on its own roots - maybe I am being optimistic buying that at my age. All in good shape with spines in good condition, but totally pot bound in tiny plastic pots.

So first job was a repot into terracotta pots and my standard Mexican desert compost. And although they came from a professional cactus nursery they will be in quarantine while they get acclimated to the Spanish sun.

Today I repotted my battered looking Astrophytum myriostigma var. nudum var. quadricostata.  Grown from seed traded in 2013 it has grown slowly for an Astro  - that is a 4" pot.  It developed a growth line a couple of winters ago which is still prominent.  Has never flowered - I am interested to see how long it retains its four ribs - they tend to revert to the more usual five rib format in time.

Yesterday: Repotted my two established Pedros which were extremely rootbound from 5 years in the same pot. Used a mix with lots of manure and compost and added some perlite and gravel. The rich soil might have been a poor decision, but we'll see.

Today: Inoculated most of my plants with a microbe product - hxxp://www.plant-success.com/product/great-white/ - and watered. They'd better be happy, they dribbled poopy water all over my deck!

Those two pedros from yesterday were softer when i planted them but are postively turgid now.

Today I upgraded a few of my pereskiopsis stocks to 'mother' status. Not sure what to do with the rest. The propagator is starting to get full.
