I think he was referring to Marcel Proust's "In Search of Lost Time". (Marcel Proust is my namesake and the fellow in my avatar pic.) Don't beat up on WT for a well placed literary allusion!

This time Incog better bring nangs. I'm not going to be the only one to bring them again... Unless your last nang trade offer still stands, Incog...

All my jars are the ones you get a Coles. 1 litre jars are about $3.00, from memory. For a while there, I was just chucking one in the trolley whenever I was buying groceries. They've withstood multiple PCing. 2 out of the 12 that I bought needed new lids because they would just jump the thread if you tightened them too much. Just check them as you're buying them... Of course, they have tapered mouths so you won't be doing cakes in them, but for anyone working with grains, I can't recommend them enough. Spotlight sell replacement lids for these jars, should yours get damaged or lost.

Why did all the exciting shit happen while I was distracted away from the forum? Clearly the universe threw all this stuff out there to fill the gaping void left by my absence... Well, I'm back now. Your life should settle a little now, Torsten.

Hello boys and girls. I'm off to Fiji next week, to the island of Vanua Levu, near Savusavu. Not doing much there; just bumming around, reading and going for walks. There are a few threads on here about Fiji from the ethnobot's perspective, but they're all 5+ years old and mostly about Kava. Anyone been there? Can anyone suggest things I must see/do? Plants to check out? Also, it's cube season there, and I understand the species is present in Fiji. Anyone have any personal experience finding cubes in Fiji? Also, I'm thinking of sourcing some Acacia simplex seed. Is it worthwhile? Anyone want me to bring some back for them? Cheers!

Of course! But he's still alright by me. The world needs more crackpots.

Wait. Is it his birthday? I gave him a birthday blowie at EGA last year, and that was December. Either youse are all fooled, or he lied to me... (Which would be silly, because I don't need it to be anyone's birthday to play their flute.)

Well, I've decided to become the next Bootsy Collins and i'm wondering if any bassists out there can give me any tips or thoughts about getting into learning. What to buy, what to avoid, best ways to learn, etc. I used to play drums a bit, so I gots me a bit o' rhythm, and i play a bit of a few other instruments, but i'm basically a musical novice. Also, anyone got a shitty old bass or bass amp they want a few bucks or plants or mush cultures for?

Why maccas looks edible in the ads but not in person

I agree. Kids are so easy to brainwash. My kids rant and rave whenever we drive past McDonalds. My 6 year old begins lecturing everyone on the destruction of the rainforests and my 3 year old makes vomit noises. When we car pool other kids to school, they get a pro bono lecture from my sons. My in-laws think we're denying them the simple happinesses of life. Funny thing is that whenever we're on a road trip and we've been in the car for 8 hours and we only have 2 hours to go, and we haven't eaten since breakfast, and there's nothing to eat on the highway, and we say "fuck it" and stop for a drive thru, my boys manage to silence their ranting and look as pleased as if I took them to freaking heaven. Talk about prohibition creating a demand! -
Any bass guitarists out there?

holymountain: that's a great chunk of advice, man! Thanks! -
Can anyone tell between Lepista nuda (Wood blewit) and Lepista personata (Field blewit)? What have I here? I found a whole patch of them today. My first blewits! Very pleased with myself!

September school holidays, please! I'll be up there then!

I have every Weather Report album ever released. I knows me some Jaco! That said, I reckon Miroslav Vitous was a better bass player for WR. -

Totem: that clip is exactly why I want to learn bass. Spacecadet: Totem's video is proof that you don't need a guitar to have fun with bass. -
No, they're definitely some kind of Blewit. I know my Corts pretty damn well, and they aren't Corts. The spore print is a pale salmony pink colour. A bit like Caucasian baby skin... And they have the Blewit smell, based on what my field guides say (like slightly funky orange juice). They also have that distinct skin texture on the pileus that I recognise from photos of Lepista spp. There weren't any young ones, but some of the smaller ones had more of a purple/lilac hue. Thanks for the replies, folks!

Different war, I know, but my great grandfather fought alongside the Australians in Tobruk. Even before my family and I moved to Australia, he would go on and on about how wonderful the Australian soldiers were. Brave and tough and loyal and above all, the most cheerful people anyone had ever met. Apparently everyone would boast about being friends with an Aussie; it was a symbol of battlefield coolness, apparently!

A condom. Half on, the rest hanging and swinging sadly out from the bottom of your boxers. And little flakes of dried sex juice snowing down onto your thighs. Oh baby....
