SALVIA DIVINORUM and KRATOM back in OZ!

Current situation is that the herb is illegal under state and federal laws, however the live plant would not be included in this under NSW state laws (and the feds don't pursue simple plant possession). The new psychoactive substances laws do not affect herbs and herbal products, so nothing has changed due to them. The live plant exemption does not apply in most other states and definitely does not apply in Qld and WA.

Tussilage farfara coltsfoot - legal status

the S10 listing states "TUSSILAGO FARFARA for therapeutic use." note this bit: "for therapeutic use" as long as it is not sold for therapeutic use it is not restricted. Ditto for comfrey.

    Flying with fresh cutting

If it has spines over a certain length (i think 10mm) then it won't be allowed on board. I've had to remove my cutting once, but bought some scissors at the chemist and cut all the spines off which was then fine. I had to surrender the scissors though, LOL.

    Donating for SAB costs

nope. The $311.11 is the amount I set as already contributed to this year. i thought the 2016 goal was overshot by 311.11. Or was it only 111.11? Does anyone remember? I've already deleted it and don't feel like adding up each amount. I really shouldn't do stuff like that just before bed time.
  8. I don't think anyone else is having orientation problems, so i wonder if it is your album management software on your computer? if you click a flip.rotate button some don't actually rewrite the image, but just store the rotated preference. This preference won't be transferred when you upload. I used to have that problem with ACDSee.
  9. having some problems and just wondering if anyone else did.

Houston, I think we have a problem

User error. You need to edit the link, not just the text. When in sig editor click anywhere on your link, then click the link button (the two linked chain links) and then edit the URL. I've edited the link code to misplant.net, but you may want to edit the text and apologise to the forum software

    Trade/ purchase gone wrong?

I am sure we could do something like that, but there are other ways for to me confirm that too.

Collective Plant Monographs by SAB members

There have been a few starts at this sort of thing over the years, both here and elsewhere. I am all for it and would love to support it via the forums or via a wiki - or both. There are already similar sites that try to create such monographs, but they are no longer maintained well or just don't have the level of content we have here. This forum software has all sorts of features that might be useful for this so I will have a look at the options and see what can be enabled. Keeping it all under the same log ins really helps with such projects. A subforum already exists [currently hidden] from a previous attempt, so I am happy to reactivate. Would you want everyone able to post in it or should it be specifically for a working group? I am happy to create a special members group, but it would rely on me moving people to that group. Alternatively it could possibly be split into a working group AND any casual contributions being posted after mod approval. We'd also need a special mod or three for this subforum. LOL re Teo. I am happy to say that all the shenanigans we put up with were worth it in the end (I never lost faith in that, but just could not justify him sticking around any longer at the time). Some people just need a bit of patience early in life until they funnel their passion into something constructive and productive (note: he does a lot more than make lists these days :p)

    Trade/ purchase gone wrong?

I am certain the problems from 6+ years ago are well behind you, so as long as the trades situation is cleared up I have no objection to let you have your old account back. That's if you really want it. I thought maybe you would prefer to continue with one that doesn't have as much baggage ;) Welcome back.

2016 Goal has been met ... and more! Thank you all for contributing. I'll reset the counter shortly so we can keep on track for 2017.

    Forum search function

I have a few boxes that have no text in them and I am not sure why. So far they've mostly been in the admin/mod functions and I just guess what they're supposed to be. But that won't work here. I know the version list included a comment about dates in certain situations and mentioned that the default would revert to US format for some reason. I'll have to look into this a bit more, but maybe try the US format in your entry. edit: you can work out what month you have clicked by selecting a date, which will then enter the full date [in us format] into the field. From the month drop down you can also count the lines to work out which month [roughly] you're up to.

    Old colour scheme!

The last upgrade was a major one, so the old theme could not be used and had to be completely recreated from scratch, which I didn't have time for until last week. There was never any intention to stay with the blue!! The forums are stable now and minor upgrades are working properly again [after months of minor issues], so I'll focus a bit more on the finer detail now.

Is this site dying out ?

I find too much spam kills sites much quicker and we've done a pretty good job of eliminating spam from this site. SOME noob posts are moderated, but that only applies to the first few posts and only to a very small umber of new members. Essentially, if your sign up process matches certain criteria then you will be approved without moderation. This applies to about 80-90% of noobs. If you were put on mod queue then chances are you used TOR to sign up, or used an overseas IP, or your email address is a known spam source and was flagged by the system. If you look like a spammer then you need to put up with a bit of filtering for a few days.

Lowest temp I got from that unit was just enough to keep my chicks warm ;) That first number is 50C and the dial is just below that. Temp dial is quite reliable as long as you approach from the same direction. ie don't expect reaching the 150C mark from clockwise to give you the same temp as when from anticlockwise. For low temp work there will also be a difference with ambient temps, but you will get that for anything that isn't probe controlled. I use a few of the cheap chinese probe controlled ones too, but I don't think any of them have lasted me a year of weekly use. And don't think that the ones sold locally by lab suppliers are any better just because they are sold locally. Many of them are the same cheap chinese ones, just with a different label and a very different price tag.
  19. The recent upgrade has fixed the donations goal bar. It now shows the actual total rather than just the last transaction.
  20. Everything seems to have gone smoothly, but please let me know if you notice any problems. Here is a list of improvements/changes: There is now logic to prevent double-posting when the initial post encounters an error on submit Moderators can now remove all followers from an item Admins now have a setting to have members automatically follow content they start or reply to. Members can optionally override this. The editor will now show a message if a link that can be embedded (image, video, etc.) failed to embed for some reason. When a member is banned/suspended the system now shows a more friendly page with information on their ban. Previously it showed a permission denied page. Redesigned ticket listing in Commerce New My History view in Commerce Security Questions for account security Remember me cookie is now 90 days rather than 7 days New setting to make providing a billing address optional for purchases in Commerce. Personal conversation management improvements: Can now filter personal conversations to just read/unread. Can now move multiple personal conversations into a different folder at once. Can search by recipient/sender name. Notifications about Calendar events now include the event date. Email digests. When you mouseover the badge showing who liked a post, you will now see a larger list of who liked that post. You can still click to get the full list. Ratings now show half-stars for the average (for example, if one user votes 3 stars and another 4, it will show 3 and a half stars) and there is now an indication if you have rated something. A "Preview" button has been added to the post editor which shows how the post will appear after BBCode processing. Tabs show how the post will appear on desktop, tablet and mobile. Users can now choose to ignore notifications for being mentioned in posts by particular users. You can now filter searches by specific forums/categories. The way dates are formatted can now be customised by language strings. For example, if you want to change the date format to "DD-MM-YYYY" that is now possible. With this change, the new default is US-style ("March 4, 1992") rather than the previous European-style ("4 March 1992"). Plus many adminstrative and security improvements

    Best Magnetic Stirrers

This is the only one I use. I have about 6 or 7 of them, with the oldest one over 10 years old and still going strong. The only niggle is that once they get older, if they don't get used for a few months the spinner seizes up a bit. Easily dislodged with a screwdriver and then just blow some WD40 onto it to keep it going for a couple of years before it needs it again. Temp is very stable, spinner is strong enough to drag big eggs and giant bars. hotplate seems to last forever (all other brands I've tried rarely make it past one year). We also sell them because they are so awesome. http://www.webstore.kodaphytorium.com.au/magnetic_stirrer_hotplate_device_pr_2350.php

Is this site dying out ?

Facebook obviously has taken a LOT of traffic from forums. But as much as I like FB for socialising it is also very impermanent. It is difficult to find anything in groups and there is no search function for your own or other people's timelines. When i post on FB I don't expect it to be useful for more than a few days or maybe weeks. These forums however already represent a huge amount of knowledge and experience. Even if no one contributed to them ever again they would still be an awesome resource for decades to come. So with that in mind I am not too fussed about how busy this place is. I can see from the traffic statistics and links just how much the existing content is valued. Obviously I would like that to continue, but I am not hung up about it. My own health problems and personal situation have kept me away from here a lot over the last couple of years too, but hopefully that will improve. I still post here all the things I want to make sure to have linkable into the future. Every time I want to share something on facebook but then can't remember where I posted it I remember why places like this need to survive. And they will. As for the like button, to be honest, I'd rather have a lower daily post volume than lots of one word comments. We've always put emphasis on quality rather than quantity.
  23. not sure about the sideways thing. You probably turned it on your phone, but it hasn't saved the turn. The images are there in full size, but will only display in thumbnails if above a certain size. This is so that members with small devices don't have their formatting screwed up to the point of threads being unreadable. It also saves on mobile data download. Not sure if you realise, but the image you posted is actually full size [once you click on it].
