Lucida - Tagetes lucida And Justica is really Justicia, that's how the plant name is spelt.

theobromos Posted December 10, 2004 The saints Pedro and Isidro and the god Soma for males. Carl Hemp was the female plant, confusedly. Hickory sounds a bit like hikuri. Artemis may be a popular name again in the future. And to cap it all, Liberty.
ramon Posted December 10, 2004 Not botanical but I like Aurum. It means shinning one and it is the reason that the chemical symbol for gold is Au. Very auspiscious name. I especially like it as it comes with a natural nickmane of A u
woof woof woof Posted December 12, 2004 just give the kid a non drug related name. I can understand that drugs have inspired you - but your kid is going to be his own person better look at your roots and look at what inspires you of your families past, maybe there is a name there. You want someting crazy: Indiginous peoples that used to live on the islands where I am from , named their kids for the first thing that came to their attention after they walked out of the hut where the child was just born. Maybe your kid will be hospital bed , syringe or sexy looking nurse ( dont take me seriously - he he ) I have heard some other creative names,... like "YOUANDI" which is simply from YOU AND I. or the parents of a friend of mine needed a name for their boat, son his name Hans and the two daughters Querine and Nicole. So the boats name became HANIQUE heh he eh - now you be creative,.. try > LSD - mescalin - crack - smack There are so many beautiful names out there.

I think you are contradicting yourself. Firstly, tomtom asked for an 'ethnobotanical inspired' name, not a 'drug inspired' name. There is a huge field of ethnobotany out there that has nothing to do with drugs. Secondly, you recommend to 'look at the roots' of the family. All of us can trace our roots back to some botanical. Whether this is the cloth trade, farming, shipping, colonial trade etc, all have some strong connection to one or more botanicals. And if you go even further back then you will find deep spiritual connections to the plant kingdom (and in particular psychotropic plants) in every person, regardless of what religion or race. Because we don't know which way the WOD tide will turn I think it would be unfair to a child to expose him/her to the potential ridicule of peers. Being a child in the harsh school environment is hard enough without a name that gives cause for ridicule. So, the more blatantly political the name is, the more important it is for the kid to have a neutral middle name (or to put the dodgy name in the middle). It is easy enough to hide your middle name if need be. The australian flora has many beautiful names. Just have a look through a seed catalog. But also familiarise yourself with the meanings of the name. You wouldn't want to call her Mitragyna for example as her years in puberty might be a little embarrassing In fact, stay away from any name that includes a descriptor of reproductive organs (unless it's a boy and includes the word 'macro' ). I have a friend whose last name is equivalent to "Stag", (but in a different language). He named his son "Magnus". It's bound to be beneficial for the boys selfconfidence once he works out what it means It appears latin genus names are good for girls names, but don't yield many suitable for boys. The indigenous common names are more likely to be useful for boys names.

Later we have also have some distillate of Vinis vitifera, Solanum tuberosum or Saccharum officinale, etc Dammit, there are plants everywhere in our lives.... ramon Posted December 13, 2004 But to be fair, the users on this forum chiefly concern themselves with psychotropic plants. Really to such an extent that "ethnobotany" begins to strongly connote "drug use". I disagree It is fair to say that the topic covered in these forums are largely related to psychotropic plants but they are far from topics about drug use. Many of the threads are about the medicinal or spiritual qualities of these plants.
Torsten Posted December 13, 2004 the entheogen weighting on these forums is probably due to the fact that there are very few places where such things can be discussed openly and without prejudice, while fibrecrops, heritage seeds, and farmforestry etc are openly discussed in LOTS of places. It is easy enough to hide your middle name if need be. Hence Our bubs name, louise acaciawhich name was to come first was a topic of deliberation - but the fact she has one regular name and then the name i found while munching salvia on top of a mountain that happenned to be covered in tryptamine rich acacias, while i pondered a name. we figure she has a name that means something and is usnusual and a name that allows her to fit in and not be so notorious - something i have often wished for as you say girls are easier I know several people on this forum who have chose n their own names in adulthood so in the end its not really final hehhee but while were at it i went to school with a guy whose name was toke. no shit
Auxin Posted December 13, 2004 Torsten: I think it would be unfair to a child to expose him/her to the potential ridicule of peers. Torsten: the entheogen weighting on these forums is probably due to the fact that there are very few places where such things can be discussed openly and without prejudice, while fibrecrops, heritage seeds, and farmforestry etc are openly discussed in LOTS of places. Indeed- I've got blue corn, red sunflowers, extra-sweet watermelon, hot peppers from over a dozen countries, a named Nicotiana rustica that can be traced back to its collection in 1913, etc.. but this is a superb community for entheology discussion, frankly the best I've ever found, so bring on the calea zacatechichi and sinicuichi [ 13. gomaos Posted December 13, 2004 How's "popeye" (derived from "poppies") or olivia (from "oliolioqui")? Hmmm... "Mary jane" is always a cool name... or "Oscar' from Ayahuasca ("are you oscar"?) so 'Pubert Edwin' is out. LOLLLL [ 13.
