Aquaponics Posted July 20, 2013 Coffee has been something ive wanted to grow a long time and im finally doing it! what i have here is dwarf arabic coffee about a month or so old. They are just getting there leafs. There was supposed to be 25 of them, but i think a squirrel or something was stomping the pots and eating the beans. Ive counted 16 so far. shonman Posted July 20, 2013 Coffee is great! There are so many excellent plants is that family.... Wen I grew coffee from seed, They all looked very good for quite some time... But I was surprised, in the long run, how few seedlings made it. I grout the seeds from a coffee tree, kept ndoors n a sunroom. It produced around a pound of coffee beans per year..... etherealdrifter Posted July 21, 2013 Hi, That's a nice bunch of coffee Aquaponics Good luck with them I know it's a long shot but this coffee plant has struggled through three winters here(we do get frost and neg temps) but it's still going. I plan to create a micro climate and plant it out this Spring. B'Hhmmmm Posted July 21, 2013 ive got a coffee tree out the back. about 3 meters high! right now all my berries are ripe. but as ive read seems to be labour intensive so unsure what to do with them all.. if anyone after some coffee beans for a trade or something , im more than happy to help out. The beans were germinated in a plastic bag with a damp paper towel on the window sill. I planted some soon after they started germinating and some were kept in the bag. I found it was rather dangerous to keep them in the direct sun (im in Texas), so i put them in a shaded spot inside a fishtank with a clear trash bag wrapped around it. I was even thinking a tub would work. I was going for the greenhouse effect. Main idea is to keep it moist, humid and make sure it doesnt dry out. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
naja naja Posted July 31, 2013 hey peeps, I have read old lit which describes the taste and effects of coffee leaf for use in a tea. From memory the caffine content was well up there, similar to bean from memory, lightly roasted and brewed tasted sumwhat inbetween coffee and tea and was recommended that it would be best marketed as a tea substitute if there were a potential market for these leaves. If so, how did you clean the flesh off the bean? No matter how hard I tried it always went moldy before it germinated. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
