tipz Posted December 21, 2013 Looking good GOT ! That pach crest has exploded with growth. Pach would have to be the most stable and vigorous of trich crests.
GoOnThen Posted December 21, 2013 Thanks Myco I am sure there are going to be a few things we can trade soon. Looking good GOT ! That pach crest has exploded with growth. Pach would have to be the most stable and vigorous of trich crests. You had me totally confused about what I had posted pics of. I didn't post a pic of my Pach crest. You even had me checking the plants in the background. My Pach crest These are my others Same clone as the biggest grafted one in the previous post And the chicken. Not a Trich but I love the way it keeps changing its form Cheers Got
tipz Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) You had me totally confused about what I had posted pics of. I didn't post a pic of my Pach crest. You even had me checking the plants in the background. I thought the last 3 pics were of the pach I sent you. Don't mind me ( edit - the chicken has to be the coolest looking crest ever ) Edited December 21, 2013 by cacti jihadist
djmattz0r Posted December 21, 2013 Those chola spines are terrible, like glochids but worse! They like to stay stuck in my skin and sometimes I've had little pups pull off into my skin I have a fewas well, I'll try to get pictures tomorrow when it's light
myco Posted December 21, 2013 Pach would have to be the most stable and vigorous of trich crests. Gotta agree there I've never seen any revert to normal growth at all and they grow really fast Someone from the states I think said there's a clone A and clone B pach crests being sold over there somewhere I have one that looks very different from the rest I'll put some pics up to show the difference It's almost looking like a TBM crest but the spines just aren't big enough in my opinion it definately looks different though
hostilis Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) That chicken is great! Hahaha. Anyways, here's my pach crest. My TBMC is plated in the same pot and it's about to impale the crest with a spine. I guess I didn't really think this through all the way when I first potted them together. Edited December 21, 2013 by hostilis
Jox Posted December 22, 2013 Had this for a while now but have never posted about it here, it is Euphorbia antiquorum f. spirals. Does anyone here have one? Cheers Jox
EthnoGuy85 Posted December 22, 2013 We have 2 distinct and highly unusual mutant clones of this favorite cactus. Please note that the cristate cuttings grow slower than the monstrose. Z9a Clone A Forms thick fans of cristate growth. Occasionally reverts to normal growth or sometimes monstrose columns that have the look of molten wax. Clone B Forms clumps of coral or brain-like cristate growth. Often offsets many monstrose branches that mutate in a variety of interesting ways. Each cutting is unique! mutant Posted December 22, 2013 GOT awesome stuff, I love the chicken, man, this is awesome!! If your australian "pervuvian crest" grows so fast, then one could argue its also a pachanoi, like I always thought... but I hey, I will never know until I get one of those 'peruv crest' in my hands... normal true peruvianus never grow as fast as pachanoi... one would expect their crest to act accordingly.... hostilis thanks I also have other semi-monstrosa bridgesiis, did your's come as lotusland? This is a project to consider, show different semi-monstrosas and their differences if theyre are any...
hostilis Posted December 23, 2013 Somebody from Greece actually sent me that semi monstrose from ebay. It doesn't look as mutated as some of the others I've seen, but it regularly goes from 6 to 4 ribs and then 4 to 5 or 5 to 6 ect ect....
djmattz0r Posted December 23, 2013 I got my semi-monstrose bridgesii from Greece too, sold as grafting stock :D Here's a picture of my crested cholas aka 'chickens' ;) Three different ones, they need to be up-potted :/

mushroomman Posted December 24, 2013 Does anyone know if the European pach crest is the same clone as the NZ pach crest? European pach crest sourced from within Australia only took 5 days to root!
mutant Posted December 26, 2013 I have been observing two different clones of pachanoi for some time I am proposing again we should start talking (and even naming) different style of monstrosa growth , map it this way we can see which of the new breed (nitro seed) is doing its own thing and thing like that. all these crests with longer spines are really interesting because both of the clones I got are clearly pach (one cresting only and other doing monster /semimonster columns too) as far as the pachanois are concerned, these plants can be shaped into almost anything through conditioning.... a beautiful and easy going plant... actually a must have !
Micromegas Posted December 26, 2013 Hi Folks, Merry Christmas! There are some FANTASTIC freaks in this thread. I grow most of my plants in the ground so freaks are not my forte but here are some that grew quite by accident. A variegated scop x bridge and one of two double headed validus', this actually seems to be a common occurrance for this plant I have a few others that look like they will go that way. No damage, all natural. Also for the aspiring cresters, I have attached the largest of about 10 pacanoi crests I saw in front of the Larco Museum, Lima, Peru.

Philocacti Posted December 27, 2013 This is one of my favorite threads I'm getting this split in the growing tip of 3 of my lophophora grafts and they're turning to double headed freaks
Swiper Posted January 1, 2014 I haven't had this one formally identified, looks like a Lophocereus schottii monstrose ........
hostilis Posted January 1, 2014 That is an awesome looking, fat plant. I can see why they're called totem pole cacti.
