What did you do to your cacti today?

post-15178-0-09704900-1404812520_thumb.j\

Probably not a big deal, but I got these for free off a really nice man that lives near my place. I have no idea what they are called but the fact I got them for free is heaven on earth for an 18 year old full time university student.

So, I am super stoked to add these to my little collection haha.

Very impressive everyone else. These photos are great to look at the diversity everyone has.

Caitlin.

Aw still babies, did you grow them from seed?

And thank-you. I am hoping to get a bit more knowledge about cacti & succulents rather then just purchasing them for pure aesthetics, Id like to know the background and what too expect haha.

I hope you have some desiccated pollen lined up for that girl.

That would be a nice form to cross with a bridgesii.

Interesting the way your flower is opening up ThunderHorse. My trich flowers have so far have opened up to reveal the inner flower before the outer edges open even wider later in the evening. It kind of looks like yours is going in reverse with the outside opening right up before the flower itself opens.

Happy to see that a 4 ribbed Bridge cutting has one 4 ribbed pup, I had my doubts that was going to happen.

Took a couple of pics of a plant I like a lot, SS01xJuuls , its a fast grower. This is the Peru. phenotype, the other has much smaller spines.

fukkin no validus yet but soon i guess x] ... oooh they like to make ya wait ,

..just 2 orders to wait for now , both validus

TRICHOCEREUS tercheckii (nice till 12 cm long central spines, large white till pinkish flowers, very good for grafting) KFF 1253 Estancia Mazan RUTA 60 alt. 1100 m, p. La Rioja, Argentina

been 47C most of the day in the cacterie so didnt do much else,

finished watering a few small trichos ... just the outdoor trichos now

... that shit-bag flower never opened , it fell off today

... come to think of it , the aztekium aborted flowering too , i wonder what the fk thats all about

at least one of my son's loph's is making its 4th berry of the year already , -edit- which was eaten a bit later x]

I bought my first ever TPC the other day so getting really excited about crests all of a sudden , after thinking they were hideous ,...

I can now see the beauty in some... but not many

watching a german terscheckii monstruose and a cristate go for stupid money the last few months , it put me off even more ,

they werent even pretty , at least pachanoi and bridgesii seem to make pretty ones,

loph cristates are interesting , but the prices arent

thanks its nice to have somewhere so cool with like-minded kin to share pics and excitement with - folk round here think theyre boring :o

and it only took 2 years to build , well 2 and a half now

theres the floor left to collonise I guess... :P maybe will be reserved for overwintering monsters i grow outside

oh yeah , and one more huge windowsill, at least as far as the sun room goes anyway

is the attic in use?

lol no , but due to heat signature would probably look bad frm a helicopter

at least with the sun room they can hover down and check its not cannabis from the chopper ,

they do seem to have stopped checking for a few months ...since i wave at them each time :P

and since I've told people they do it...

theres only the sun room and a windowsill or 2 in the house with cactus

any others are outside, the greenhouse is way too sunny for them yet

the attic is way too dark and wouldnt like a leak up there or a cactus falling thru the ceiling into my bed x]

maybe if it was a scop... :P theyre a tad too sexy for a cactus

but the sunroom is good to keep the heavier spined cactus and the kids at safe distance from one another

and still give them and myself full viewing, enabling me to watch all of them at the same time B) (kids and cacti)

cant beat a glass room for the all seeing eye, in the day its like being outside with a roof, at night suddenly all the windows turn to

viewing mirrors x3

also there's the advantage of accessibility to more of that lovely energy from the great hollow fireball in the sky in the day

and that queen of the night... the moon.

and the early hours of this morning...: a beautiful electrical storm on full display
