Yeah, the reason I ask is that this one has the crazy longest spines of all my cacti. I don't have any pics at the moment as I've only had it a couple of weeks Hanging out to see if the new growth will varigate as it does seem to have stopped. incognito Posted October 7, 2008 well im thinking they would be more open to predation from insects i.e they stick out like dogs balls and are more prone to damage from sun and other environmental conditions. i find variegation in cacti to be more of a weakness.. just my own theorys from my own experience, im more than likely wrong. Thats the thing about verigation - some pups can be completely verigated, others can show none. With time I'd think it would come back into the pups - especially if it is a genetic mutation and not an environmental one.
