How to pay duty on imported goods

THat would be great! I would be very interested to know how they cure it differently to normal tobacco. Its said that the different curing process eliminates all the nitrosamines, which lowers rates of cancer associated with its use. Its the only tobacco product that has been able to have the "this product causes cancer" label removed from the packaging, to be replaced by "this product is addictive and MAY be harmful to your health". I received my american dipping tobacco and it isn't that good. It actually tastes american. It has an overpowering sickly sweet chemical flavour to it and has really lost touch with all that tobacco is. THey could make this stuff without tobacco and you couldn't even tell. I'm going to give it a chance because i had to pay so much for it in the end but it doesn't look promising. THats a good thing however as american dipping tobacco causes just as much cancer as smoking, just in different spots. Luckily there was a snus sample pack with it so hopefully that will hold me over till i get my next order of snus. Feels so good not to be smoking already

How to pay duty on imported goods

Last time i got General Ekstra Stark loose, Odens Ekstra Stark loose and Thunder Ekstra Stark loose. THis is my first experience with snus but i really like it. Below is my review of the three i got. Odens- Probably my favourite so far. Really strong so the prilla (or quid if you could call it that) doesn't have to be too big. The only problem is that it doesn't hold together the best. Having tobacco stuck all through my teeth is not the most appealing look. Thunder- Hold a close second with general. Is nice and strong (only a little weaker than odens) but shares the oden problem of not holding together the best General- THis stuff would be my favourite as it hold together really well but as it is a little weaker than the above 2 i have to use more. If only they made it stronger i would be sold. THis time i ordered a tin of skruff stark portion. It doesn't seem very economical to me though, especially if i have to pay the duty! I think it may be possible to make your own portions somehow. Just got to work out how. THe one thing i have noticed is that they all seem to taste wuite similar. The odens is meant to be citrus flavoured but it tastes exactly the same as the other two that i bought. IN the customer comments for general one guy even said " It's too bad it tastes like i stuck a lemon wedge in my lip. I just cant take that much citrus." But i honestly can't taste it! I think that it may be like smoking in that when i first started they all tasted the same but now i can notice major differences between brands and strengths. I go with northener too, fast service and cheap prices (not that i have anything to compare it to!)

Hey Tst, I found this site for cheap tobacco http://www.cheapnetcigarettes.com.au/site/...16/product/4020 I have a sneaking suspicion that this site is doing something dodgy because of their price of "wagga rolling tobacco". Its $60 for 200g. THe duty for the same product would be $64. If you have a look around i'm sure you can find a place for cheap cigs. Here's one i found www.airportcigarettes.com

Hey VS, How long after you pay customs do you have to wait for the tins to arrive? I paid a few days ago so i thought it should be here by now. I've been smoking while i wait for the tins to arrive and I don't actually feel guilty doing it as i really don't like it as much as snus. I put in a large order for snus on tues so i won't run out for awhile. I really hope customs doesn;t find that package, will be up for heaps!

    Brisbane (Ipswich) Police Scanner Stream

When i was living out of reception a few friends and i bought these really cool (and really cheap) radios. THey had all the frequencies, rather than just the normal 40 channels. We got these because it meant that we could have our own channel and noone else would interrupt. We mainly used it to see if each other was home. You couldn't really have a good chat, it was like sms talking. But it was pretty handy as reception was non-existent. Anyway they had a scan feature on them and i listened to heaps of stuff. Its interesting to hear what the cops have to do. I heard them walk into a lab (a legal one) and there was a few people passed out because they'd broken a bottle of some chemical. Another time they got called out to chase a snake out of some old dudes house, that was really funny. It was interesting for awhile, i listened to all sorts of stuff, ambos, flight towers, road wrokers (that was really handy), truckies, wreckers yards, taxi dispatch and basically everyone else who was using a radio to communicate. Truckies are especially handy to talk to as they know about road works and where radars are set up. Also, when they get up your arse you can tell them to back off. For some reason they respect people with radios, they treat you as one of their own. After awhile i got bored with it and just used it to communicate with friends. Afer i moved i didn't really need it as my friends who still had the radios lived too far away and i was bored with listening in. Most stuff you hear is pretty mundane, its only occaisonally you hear something funny/interesting. I think the law in regards to scanning is that you can listen in but you can't program the police channels in, and you def can't broadcast. I don't think that owning a scanner would help you if you were a criminal as i never heard them arranging any raids on it. THey probably use mobile phone for that or digitally encoded transmissions. The radio i had was the FDC-460. You can check it out here http://cgi.ebay.com/FDC-FD-460A-UH-410-480...=item518970cc67 THey're pretrty cheap (if you look around on ebay you can get them for $50) but they have a really good range, up to 20km. And as i said before, you have soo many channels to choose from that if you and some mates get one you can all communicate for free with relative privacy. NOt very good for long chats but great for meeting up at the pub. And if you do a 'maggot check' on the truckie channel, great for getting home from the pub (not that i endorse or condone drink driving)

How to pay duty on imported goods

Today i called customs and i was surprised to not be put on hold for very long. THe guy on the other end told me to import whatever i want and wait for customs to discover it and send me a letter. Suits me just fine, especially if they are missing 4 out of 5 packages Tst- if that oz site is www.tobacco.net.au the reason they don't sell to australia is because the company is selling everything duty free.

How to pay duty on imported goods

No, its not illegal, to my knowledge. I got some tobacco picked up last week and as lon as i pay the duty i can receive my goods. THey have removed the gift concession for tobacco as of october 2008 so now there isn't an amount that can be imported duty-free, maybe thats what you're thinking of? You can bring whatever you want in, as long as you pay the duty (and don't bring in more than 1.5kgs. )

Cold n flu tablets not decongesting...

Good title But seriously, those new cold and flus are so shit. And the when you ask for the old ones they look at you like your a junkie. I got denied the old ones when i had swine flu!! It was a serious effort to get to the pharmacist and they wanted me to 'at least try the new ones and then come back if they don't work.' I said i would do that if they would give me a refund if they didn't work. The pharmacist wouldn't, i wonder why? Had to buy aspirin instead. Seems like pharmacies are selling them to some people though...

Gambler swindled nearly $500k from priest

I have hard time feeling sorry for anyone involved in the catholic church. Every time a priest rapes a child the catholic church tries to cover it up. Yet if if there is a gay priest he is ostracized. Also, what is this man doing embezzling funds? It doesn't even sound like she conned him, just asked for the cash. What probably happened in the end is that some higher up authority asked where all the cash is and he dobbed her in.

Why you should NOT smoke Salvia divinorum!

I know that the actives are destroyed in the stomach but for some reason i remember reading somewhere that the first users would eat 70 or so fresh leaves. Researchers then worked out that swallowing this amount of leaves was not necessary because the actives were being absorbed sublingually. Instead, a fewer amount of leaves could be chewed and held in the mouth for the same effect. I don;t know where i read this though. Has anyone else heard of this?

Why you should NOT smoke Salvia divinorum!

From memory i thought that the shaman chewed the leaves up and swallowed them, 70 fresh leaves being a dose. Maybe there is a substance that has been missed and is orally active but present only in minute amounts. Quidding is only a recent thing isn't it? Brought about about by high prices of salvia (originally anyway). Quidding and smoking are two completely experiences imo. Smoking really put me off this plant whereas quidding allowed me a bit more time to understand and explore the space it put me in. I have often thought that coleus blumeii maybe active too when combined with salvia and consumned in the traditional way, ie chewing and swallowing a large amount of leaves. Much like consuming a large amount of psychotria won't do much, if anything, but combine it with caapi and you have ayahuasca! Due to the legal status of salvia i have not been able to experiment but it would be interesting to see the results of someone trying this.

20-30cm mid cuts of Eileen (apx 5cm thick) available

Hey AA, even though the original cuttings that i asked for were damaged and thus unable to be sent i feel that i was well compensated. In fact i would have gladly sent you $40 for what i recieved. Everyone else- Instead of getting 40cm of eileen i got -30cm Eileen cut (tip slightly damaged) -18cm skinny'ish mid cut (had a small cut in its side but will grow fine) -18cm Hybrid mid cut (he said it could have been KK242 X Peru, it looks extremely healthy and looks like it would grow quickly) -a penis cactus knob (haha) I;ve been wanting to get one of these for awhile now as i think they are cool as. AA told me that i had a choice of the above or a refund so i chose the above, a well worthy trade in my opinion. I ended up with 48cm of eileen in the end, plus the rest, so i was very happy.

My beef with current gen games

That view sort of looks like a combination between 1st person and second person. I can't say for sure as i've never played that game (or any game that has "OCS") but it looks like it would have the same view and gameplay as a 1st person game, only that you can see yourself. Bought prototype the other day, so brutal. I would highly recommend it. Its like GTA except the gangsters are zombies and your character is like spiderman and superman had a baby and that baby grew up and developed cannaballistic tendencies. Its pretty similar to infamous now that i think about it, i wouldn't be surprised if the two games are made by the same people. I finished it an hour ago and whilst there were many missions it did seem a little short. A really good value game is GTA 4. Heaps of missions and things to explore. I enjoyed it so much i bought a playstation 2 so that i could play some of the earlier ones. And it doesn't have OCS. A really shit game is the sopranos for ps2, i picked it up for $10 and it was so not worth it, should've put the money in the pokies. Your missions are boring (get fat tony a pizza is one!!) and every time you go inside/outside it takes a mintue to load. This wouldn; be a problem but for the fact you have to go inside/outside ALOT. And when its not loading to go inside/outside its loading for some other reason, like when someon appears. THe graphics are alot better than mot os2 games however (well the ones i've played anyway.

    Trying to remove overdrawal fee

I went into the bank the other day to put money in the bank to pay my rent and elec (it comes out automatically) and asked the teller how much i had to put in there to cover the auto payment. I had to deposit $80. I check my balance on tuesday and my balance is -$75. I had to go into the bank anyway to do a IMT so asked about why my bank balance was in negatives while i was in there. The guy told me that i had a payment go out and i should have known about this as the company usually puts a 'hold' on the money before they actually take it out. Its like when you put a $100 cheque into you bank. So if you had $100 before you put the cheque in the balance would read $200 but the AVAILABLE balance would read $100, until the cheque is cleared. I asked whether the teller would have known that the money was on hold and he said yes. So i asked for my overdrawal fee to be removed as the teller should have told me how much money i had AVAILABLE. He told me to go talk to the front desk. So i go to the front desk and i realise that i was not going to get the coin back as the chick there had that bitch face look, kind of like she had just sniffed a little bit of cat shit or something. I thought i'd give it a crack anyway. ME: Hey, i wish to get an over drawal fee removed and then explained the above. BF: I'm sorry but it is the customers responsibility to know how much money is their account. ME: Isn't that what i am doing when i am asking the teller how much money i have in there. BF: No not exactly sir. ME: Then what am i meant to do? BF:You need to be responsible for knowing how much money is in your account. (?) ME:Well i asked teller and i thought she would tell me right amount, i didn't realise i am meant to ask to physically see my money in your vault out the back, can i see that now please. BF:I don't appreciate your tone sir. Unless you have the reciept for the transaction there is nothing we can do about it. ME: (luckily my wallet is wuite messy with every receipt i get) Here it is. BF: Umm, i will got talk to the teller. z(taking the receipt with her) BF: I talked to the teller and she is very experienced and did not make a mistake. ME: What is your name? And can i make an appointment with the manager here please. BF: You can't make an appointment unless you belong to this branch, you will have to take it up with your branch. ME: You didn't ask me that a few weeks ago when you wanted to loan me $50,000 for no apparent reason but luckily, yes, i AM a memeber of this branch. BF: I will go talk to the manager now. BF: They will bring it up at the next meeting sir. Next (i can't believe she actually thought it was over) ME: Sorry, i'm not finished with my inquiry. BF: You will have to take it up with the person that you shopped with as only they will be able to tell you when they took the money out. Next ME: I need my reciept back. BF: No sorry i need that to show the manager. ME: Take a photocopy, if i didn't have that i wouldn't have even got this far. BF: The photocopying machine is broken, i will need to keep this. ME: WHAT!! I just saw someone use it! I do not give you permission to keep my personal property. I need it so you don;t try scam me next time i copme in here. She went and photocopied it and i gave her a rant about if thats how they make 4.7million every year then i'm not interested in banking with them. Anyway today i found out that the company i bought stuff from actually shipped my stuff afew days before i originally went to the teller to fill up my bank acccount so the hold on the money would have been in place. I had actually forgotten about it until i was checking where my products were. Can't wait to go in on monday and get my $30 back (plus interest, its only fair, they are borrowing my money) . Going to wait in line till i get BF. I bank with commonwealth and i must say that all my previous dealing with them have been great (i started with a dolomite account!!) But then again i've never had them make a mistake with me before. If they don't give the cash bank i will be seriously consider closing my account, well i will look around for the best deal anyway. If they are all the same (which i'm sure they are) i will close this account and go somewhere else.

Tasmania - Drug dealer told to pay.

$250 a week is $13000 a year... I always thought that the cops always overinflated numbers but now i'm starting to think that they are just shit at maths. Here are some recent examples... 20 cups of coffe in a pill http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/inde...showtopic=22371 $6000 ozs of weed http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/inde...showtopic=22344 $1000 kgs of kava http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/inde...showtopic=22197 I'm sure that this bust put a major dent in the tasmanian drug trade. I hope that none of the brave officers invloved were hurt in the raid, these cartel leaders are known to live in heavily armed fortresses protected by men with machine guns.

Medical warnings over Giggle party drug.

If a cup of coffe has 100mg of caffiene in it then these things must be monsters! A friend of mine bought some 'geranium' pills (they were red so probably not giggly) and he said they were horrible. He said it was just like E but without any of the nice part. He and a few friends ate them at this years splendour. I went round the day after and they were all taking turns at spewing over the toilet, did not look fun at all.

    Trying to remove overdrawal fee

I got another overdrawal fee today! Second one in 6 years! The real estate didn't take the moneny out on the weekend like they usually do and i was also expecting someone to deposit some cash, which just so happened to be the same amount as my rent. So yesterday when i checked my account i thought that the person had depostied the cash but really it was that my bank hadn't taken the rent. I went and spent a bit of the money but then later that evening the person that was going to deposit some cash rang me and told me they wouldn't be doing it till wed. And sure enough last night the real estate took the cash and i got another overdrawal fee. I don't think it will look that good when i go in tomorrow. I'm going to give it a shot anyway as i have evidence now that i'm in the right. I don't like my chances on getting the money back on the second overdrawal fee though Its interesting to know that overdrawal fees are illegal, i've always thought of it as a short loan with incredibly high interest.

Do things get sold really quickly on there? I ask because i went to the swap n sell site and i can't find where anything is listed. I even joined up because i thought that maybe the items were hidden to non-members. THe garden section lists -7 items?! The computer section lists 4 items but when i go the computer auction part there are no listings.

    Crop Cirlces

Why would crop circles have to be created in one night? Most farmers i have known don't go walking throught their crops everyday. You can't see a crop circle from the side of the field i'd imagine. I just can't believe that aliens would decide to fly millions of light years to get here only to leave some graffiti in some poor farmers field. Doesn't really make sense to me. I know alot of people would probably say that the aliens are scared that we would try to kill them but i can't imagine that any government would try to provoke war with aliens. If they managed to get here in the first place then their technology would be better than ours. Not a good enemy to have. I'm not denying the existence of life on other planets, i just don't think they fly here in the night to wreck crops. There are better ways to make contact with humans, writing in the SKY is one.

    Electronic Cigarettes banned

Been researching getting a newer better e-cig because my old one broke but unfortunately they are now illegal. Apparently nicotine is highly addictive so has been added to schedule 7 of the Poisons Standard. Nicotine can only be sold ( a ) when included in Schedule 6; (and 2 as well i think) ( b ) in preparations for human therapeutic use; or ( c ) in tobacco prepared and packed for smoking.!!!!! So inhaling a mix of nicotine and 4000 other chemicals, many of them proven carcinogens, is cool but plain nicotine is bad? And the reasons given is that nicotine is addictive as stated by the health minister Daniel Andrews. http://www.theage.com.au/national/ban-on-b...81231-77ko.html You'd think that the e-cig would be covered under ( c ) but the TGA hasn't approved them as a therapeutic good. I believe the ban is because electronic cigs make quitting relatively easy. They are also far cheaper than other nicotine replacement therapies so i think that this product started to piss off the people who make other NRT products as well as the tobacco companies. Two very powerful enemies. THe pharm companies that make NRTs only have to compete with tobacco as a rival. And because tobacco is so heavily taxed and the NRTs aren't( afaik), the companies that make them get to have a HUGE mark-up whie still being cheaper than the alternative. Fortunately for tobacco companies most NRTs are basically useless and smokers really have to struggle to quit and will bounce between tobacco and NRTs many times. Enter in the e-cig which works well ( and the new ones are even better from what i can gather) and is way cheaper because its not exploiting the fact that the alternative won't be able to compete in a price war. ( as in NRT vs. tobacco). I think the big boys ignored it but when they saw that it was starting to gain momentum they had to act fast. And as our government couldn't really tax a product that helps people quit smoking they decided to ban it instead. Which allows tobacco and pharm companies to go back to business as usual whilst the goverment takes their cut. I think this whole affair is disgusting and if it weren't for the fact that e-cigs are not stocked by pharmacists (i wonder why) and more widely known about i think there would be social uproar. Banning a product that saves lives for money! Ridiculous (but not unexpected)
