I saw them yesterday at the adelaide bdo as well. I was pretty blown away by their set even though I was a fair way away and the sound system was pretty shit. I 'm pretty short so I could hardly see anything for most of the gig till I climbed up the fence of the slingshot onto it and then could see pretty good (quite a feat whilst tripping). Did anyone else notice the full moon rising from behind the stage as tool started playing, pretty freaky. Hopefully they come back soon i'lld efinitley be making the effort to see them even if I have to go interstate.

Anyone seen Darren Aronofky's (director of PI and requiem for a dream) new movie The fountain yet? I just got back from seeing it and its nothing short of amazing. Its less intense than his last two movies but its so intricate and the cinematography, camera work and cg special effects blew me away. To sum it up i'd say its like a cross between blueberry, adaptation and a Tool film clip.

Did anyone go to the sydney bdo? What was it like?

Lol borat was hillarious, I thought some parts went alittle over the top with vulgarity but it was definitley the funniest movie i've seen in the cinemas for a long long time :D Hell yeah I love british humor its so much more subtle and dry compared to American humor.

I've seen this on bumper stickers quite a bit lately. I thought it was a really good idea.

There should be a world flag, screw all this national patriotism stuff all it achieves is dividing people and giving people an excuse and reasons to differentiate themselves from others when we are all the same.
-
Unfortunatley this sort of country

If anyone has such a problem with this petty issue then they should just stay at home and leave the BDO for the majority of people who go to enjoy the music rather than proving something to the rest of society.

The bdo never banned the flag, read the offical press release from the bdo organisers http://www.bigdayout.com/news/pressreleases.php Clarification on the Flag Issue The Big Day Out would like to offer the following to clarify its position on “flag banning” at the Sydney show. Contrary to the reports in the media, it was never our intention to disrespect the symbolism of the Australian or any other flag. In recent times, there has been an increased incidence of flags brandished inconsiderately and this has led to increased tension. Our only goal in discouraging this activity at the Big Day Out is to ensure that our patrons are not subjected to or inconvenienced by this behaviour. We have no problem with people being patriotic, and we certainly do not have a problem with people wearing or displaying what they feel is important. Regardless of how it has been interpreted, this is about audience safety and enjoyment. With all this in mind and the aim to create a happy, peaceful MUSICAL event, organisers would like to request that fans please leave large flags at home. The substantial increase of flags brought to large public events such as the Big Day Out is becoming excessive and has created complex issues including but not limited to sight line problems. This is simply a request, not a command. The Big Day Out is not an Australia Day event, but a music festival showcasing music artists from around the world and aspires to unify people through music. On the whole, Big Day Out audiences have been extremely well behaved and we hope that this has clarified this situation. Unfortunately the media reports yesterday were not quoted accurately and we must thank the participating media for wasting everybody’s time including the Prime Minister John Howard, Premier Morris Iemma, NSW RSL President Don Rowe, Keysar Trad (a confidant of the Mufti Sheik Taj el-Dene Elhilaly) and Burt Lane of the Australian National Flag Association….

Lol I learnt all this stuff in my first semester of uni but it all looks like gibberish to me now . Might have to dust off the old text book and try and have another look.

I agree with gerbil I cringe whenever I see people draping the flag over their shoulders or sticking flags everywhere. To me the current Australian flag symbolizes British colonisation and in the last few years a symbol of racism and ignorance. Don't get me wrong i'm proud to be Australian, i'd much rather be Australian than most other nationalities but i'm not proud of our history or our government and have no respect for either. What I do have respect for is the millions of people (of all colours, religions and cultures) who have immigrated here over the past 200 years to create a better life for themselves and have forged a culture of mostly laid backed, friendly and welcoming people. I am glad I live in a country where I don't have to make a decision like that because if I had to I would choose neither. Btw, this is the only flag i'd ever be proud to fly.

Darlene Bishop's claims appear in her book, Your Life Follows Your Words, which fails to mention that her brother, the songwriter Darrell "Wayne" Perry, died of the disease 18 months ago. Mr Perry's four children have filed a lawsuit against their aunt for wrongful death, claiming that she persuaded him to stop chemotherapy and to depend instead upon God's healing. Mrs Bishop, who is co-pastor at a 4,000-congregation Ohio church, also claims that prayer cured her of breast cancer. In her blog she dismissed the allegations as "complete lies", adding that he had been in remission for more than a year when the book was published.

From what I can understand the main factor that causes breakdowns in negotiations is that the palestinian government has no real power to enforce its offers and that the neighbouring arab countries don't care at all about the palestinians beyond using them as propaganda for whipping up anti israeli sentiments in their own countries. Its a totally fucked up sitaution and unfortunatley I doubt this century will solve as much as the last 100 years have -
Theres allways going to be an element of risk involved with extreme sports, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't have sympathy for the this guy, especially since he's leaving behind his family and friends.
