    Getting fit for Summer?

Just generally speaking and coming from the land of food addiction, just nutrition in general... I know its been said over and over again to eat your veggies but the point is if you have cravings that means your body is needing something and if you give it to your body the cravings will be cut down tremendously eliminating most of the struggle some have regarding fitness... its a bout a conscious decision regarding habits and not only does it help eliminate cravings but effects overall well being and self esteem to eat right... cut out sugar from your diet as much as possible, especially high fructose corn syrup.. i personally changed the way I look at food after pretty much quitting sweets.. not entirely out of my diet but my daily intake of sugar is typically around a teasoon or less daily with the exception being natural sugars from fruits... I use stevia in my tea usually but occasionally i splurge then then feel guilty for a few hours but im sorta proud that it makes me feel bad lol im not the most fit but I cut down alot of weight after quitting sugar sweetened sodas and its never come back in a major way and thats been for a few years now... also the good fats are important for metabolism and brain function @ Omega 3 but I've heard the Omega fatty acids need to be balanced and peeps already get too much Omega 6 and not enough Omega 3.. also Magnesium is required for over 300 biochemical reactions in the body and creates energy in every cell by activating ATP... most are said to be deficient of Mags and of course Vitamin D3 for those who don't get alot of sun and I think it works in conjunction with calcium.. you don't usually see depressed ppl at the gym eh

    What's eating you pup?

should be fine imo... in the long run just a little battle scar but i'd look everytime I was around just to be sure best if you know what kind of bugs are around regularly and it could be any one but usually thats a random thing that just happens from time to time.... unless you have it happening more often I wouldn't worry a bit .. it will be not noticable before you know it not that cacti are immune to bites but since theres not much place for bugs to hide they don't usually hang around long

    Ebola. Latest developments thread.

considering in geopolitical conflicts going on and the various factions interested in developing chunks of africa, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be linked to bio-terrorism, not thats its a brand new notion... im still gonna keep a positive attitude and tune out the doomsday business, but its all too sad how these places are ill equipped to handle the issue and the populations reaction.. it could very well be experimentation without regard to cost... fact is all the 1st world nations are spending 90% of the efforts to make sure it doesn't land on their doorstep Sally I think you mean that Bill Gates Speech? where he mentions vaccines as a means to population control in the same sentence but then offers a shady explanation , yeah its kinda creepy... it's time SUPERHEROES UNITE! i'll go get the tinfoil

How do i grow this thing? Woody cactus

hrm wow... well sorry its after the fact info but at any rate you'll probably need to be patient if it is going to root... I know with peres the mushyness is first sign of rot but its probably eating up dead material anyways it looked pretty dry... so I would have removed all the mush pretty much I would personally be keeping the sandy medium wet and put it somwhere where i'd remember to water and just not over do it... but again after removing all the dead parts and if I found life in it , would start at a fresh point.. they don't look very lively tho so I wouldn't keep your hopes up, though I wouldn't give up either its worth sticking them in there to see... not only would I have put it directly into wet soil but I would be misting the plant once or twice a day and see if there is any sign of the wrinkles going away... I do that with peres if they start to dehydrate or drop leaves and if they are lively they will absorb water through the skin, and those look especially dehydrated... I've only had problems with pere dehydrating when I've attempted to root especially large cuttings like 20cm or more, and/or thicker older cuttings... I don't use humidity tanks for rooting them tho that tends to be more problematic .. i would have cut off past the mushyness and any dry material a good ways into the green part and look for lively looking plant material Pereskiopsis can get very ugly looking through the winter and so maybe those are just as able to handle that stress but the original issue is letting the plants dry out in the first place, at least if the ebay auction is correct and they've been selling pereskia for a while... thats kind of wierd about the skin peeling off.. I know pereskies once they've gone woody can form a layer like that of old skin but I wonder if its all the skin or just a layer of it.. if its all the skin and thats the cadmium exposed it would cause me to think they are not alive but then again these plants tend to break most rules
  8. the active in Neem or at least one of them is known as Azadirachtin, a product I am quite happy with that has multiple uses im surprised it even worked a bit with flea beetles on gojis and I thought nothing worked for flea beetles lol i've also used it for root drenching cacti to rid of root mealies and it worked good at a medium dose... in fact i've never done the full dose the product I got is called azamax but there are other brands.. unfortunately its a bit expensive for few rows of plants but if its not that many plants could be worth it.. says its safe to eat same day as spraying but me personally i'd wait a few daze or wash it off good lol usually have to treat a couple times with it for any major infestation, maybe every week or two but it repels, kills eggs and stops eaters from maturing.. for aphids insecticidal soap works fine ... i have a bit of an aphid issue on mints n the spring but they go away not sure about caterpillars I have a love hate relationship w/those buggers.. just in a quick search about azamax and see someone said it does the trick

What did you do to your cacti today?

They won't get too big in those little pots! most of mine go skinny tipped if they don't get alot of lateral root space the exception is older fat logs but I wonder if its cause they root through the pot into the ground usually lol I have a few PCs that I left in smallish pots all last year which all threw skinny tips.. brought them in over winter and nearly forgot about them... I cut them off this year and re rooted the stumps in bigger pots with a rich compost getting about 1/3 less sun than last year and the new tips are twice as phat and plus they are pupping like mad I have a boatload of plants I wish I had just rooted in bigger pots... oh well more quality time w/me plants

How do i grow this thing? Woody cactus

I know nothing about these my first assumption would be they are very close to pereskiopsis and if thats the case I would cut off the woody part and put in a rooting medium right away... pereskiopsis root way better when I put them straight into kelp water which is how i've really nearly all my tips for grafting this year, well over 100... on the other hand, it could be unlike pereskiopsis... I don't know but the reason im even mentioning anything is because this ebay auction i remember seeing which says this: Most cactus collectors say that but is false, is mostly 99% true but this genera is a breaking rule, one group of pereskias don't have succulents leaf and love water, another braking rule of succulents is they don't need time to seal before planting, the cutting must be planting inmediatly on a wet soil, they are real cactus for the way of the spine came like all cactus and it's flowering system, next time you ear this you can say False! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pereskia-Lychnidiflora-rare-succulent-plant-cactus-4-/151401304462?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item234038918e its a different type of Pereskia too and i wouldn't have any idea how different rooting them maybe the auction makes it seem similar to pereskiopsis.. you can callous pereskiopsis but it makes them take much longer to root IME.. the first cuttings I got by mail took over a month to show new growth, whereas when i put pereskies into kelp solution right away after cutting, they usually are rooting in 7-10 days... im grafting within 2-4 weeks (just whenever I get to it or when space comes available ) ... anyhow, like I said I dont' know but from all i've seen about the plant I wouldn't callous it personally.. i'd cut off any of the woody part because that can rot either in fluid or in moist soil... but since its different than pereskiopsis i'd personally play it safe and put in a moist sandy soil maybe half sand half soil, thats how I did my first pereskies anyways but like I said now I root them all in a cup with some kelp water, its convenient and I can do dozens at a time in a small space... I only have issues with pereskies rotting when I tried to root them outside where its really hot or when I prematurely put nitrogen into the water.. once they have roots established pretty well they become bullet proof ... I used to worry about leaves falling in the water, and it can be an issue, but after the pereskie is rooted its almost like they eat up the leaf lol I think some of the ones outside rotted due to mosquito larvae but it also could be the warmth x the leaf material falling in and then rot going from one to the other but even then the more rooted ones nearby seem to be rot resistant eh.. .again this is all pere talk, and im sharing my experience with that in case it helps i've never had a pereskia i'd listen to anyone that actually raises these before you listen to me regarding this plant but I did want to share what i remembered the ebay auctions stating and plus my experience with regular pere... best of luck with it

    Memory and the Self

I think of self esteem being a function of Ego.. I think alot of ppl misuse Ego as always being something bad rather than a function of the mind inteded to aide with critical thinking and survival but however can be unrecognizable as such in a mind filled with propaganda and junk television, and perhaps junk food has a chemical effect, altering the mind and thus the ego response as well.. I think of ego as being like MP3s, which we control the input of, and will reflect the garbage or fuel that we supply it with... the operating system of the personality EGO 1.0

    Voynich manuscript

@ bogfrog that is interesting... I know not alot about those days but I know they didn't look at death entirely the same and that it was commonly perceived in some cultures that one could return from death.. so I wonder if there were some ancient methods there which where for the purpose of simulating death or similarly in shamanic cultures, allowing one to communicate with other worlds... I however believe the only elements necessary for that is wisdom, knowledge, and the mind, though some plants can be helpful in deconstructing egotistical obstacles

    Voynich manuscript

interesting indeed... I discussed it minimally with self proclaimed "high up" Rose Croix guy not too long ago, he didn't say much but just the fact that there was some interest told me it was worth the time to look into it... but just ran into alot of dead ends in regards to any usable information I really think one of the flowers in there was a Blue Lotus but couldn't be too sure... there is ALOT of speculation that this was a fraud as well as the history of selling the manuscript is fairly extensive... there is no solid evidence that goes either way from what I understand... alot of stuff like this has secrets held within thick walls of esoteric societies... I know for example, that one organization which will not be named, has the initiates drink a substance out of a skull and this substance allows them to see reality for what it is, it is said... perhaps the book was never meant to be decoded, or a dummy version was made public to prevent abuse from rogue groups which was a common factor in those daze.. the most interesting theory I've heard yet is that another manuscript was required, or some kind of decoder that made the language make sense, rendering that copy useless without the other part.. which may have been from Mckennas vid I can't remember for sure.. I really enjoyed Mckennas vid and will probably hear it again with a meal or something Im interested in pretty much anything that is shrouded in mystery :D Sorry but I feel the need to insert that becoming as God is, is WAY more challenging than eating fungus. I look at God as sort of a process rather than an entity with a personality and I Shy away from the term God because of how it is misused by the mass religions, particularly to demonize anything that threatens the business.. but yeah I think one can experience the God Mind but i've seen it being described as much like an orgasm.. Only the highly skilled and devoted adepts can maintain that experience any longer than they can hold an orgasm.

do peres need to be supple to graft to?

If grown indoors you can cut several inches down, specifically for scions which are small seedlings... but with outdoor grown stocks it can be tougher and no to mention much spinier and more glochids I have nearly 100% success with regrafting to older stock, one even over a year old most 6 months or more... but im using pups off existing grafts as scions and doing the clothespin/seran method... I cut near the base where the old scion was and so long as its ez to do a smooth cut, the graft usually takes... its good to keep old ones around if you are in a pinch but I haven't tried it with soft seedlings, I think they require the benefit of softer flesh... i've done quite a few by reusing older stocks and I think the pressure from the seran wrap helps.. pups always take off faster than seedlings and plus the older stocks are pretty much root established so to answer your question i would say it depends on the scion and which method... if young seedlings then go with soft growh, near the tip on out door peres but you have room to play with on indoor grown, at least a few inches, and no pressure is needed. i've cut as many as 4 or 5 maybe 6 inches down on indoor grown plants and no issues my success rate is pretty high and I don't sterilize my blades either... I do soak the blades initially in alcohol but i'll admit i just get lazy and skip that step so long as I wiped the blade down before and kept it dry it has been a non issue but if you are talking more established scions off previous growths or even small aereoles that have enough shape to cut a piece that will fit atop a peres, (older pere are much thicker too) you can probably make it work on older stocks pretty well... as far as older growth on a newer plant, I would imagine so based on that experience but again I think it would depend on the scion.. I haven't tried so much on outdoor grown plants mainly because all the stock i've grown indoors until this year.. alot of the stocks I regrafted onto had already been outdoors a few months but several I had indoors cause I want to give the small scions a chance.. I had several last year pump but never grow... I saved a couple of them by eventually regrafting and I experimented with the old stocks and shit me, it works just fine with grafting good sized pups off previous grafts... You can even go way bigger than usual so long as you can balance it... pretty much if you can make a smooth cut, line up the vascular bundles and balance the scion on top with seran wrap and a clothespin, you can expect it to take within 5 or 6 days.. oftentimes I have to play with the plastic a bit to make sure the air pockets gone but its an ez method to get used to... I've been doing them indoors through a window with direct sun blocked, cause its very hot here

How do i grow my seedlings really big in the seed tray

My problem here is that in winter its too cold to start them outside in the winter and too hot to start plants outdoors in the summer for the fall season, and im meaning plants such as chilis and tomatoes... and then when growing indoors, there is not enough wind.. so I literally put a fan on them to blow them ridiculously so they will be stronger plants..... and stronger plants can hold more fruits eh unless you are getting tree bending wind then its more likely what they need to be stronger plants, but if its windy all the time you'll need to water them more often and I wouldn't recommend a soil that dries fast or clay pots ... trust me if they start off with the wind when they are tiny, they can handle it, but the temps are gonna matter with solancae plants.. coir x compost or worm castings is my favorite for starting anything.. particulary tomato plants can be knocked down all the way to the ground and they'll stand back up i've had mixed experience with chilis but its all about how well they start... same for humans, lol... btw I don't recommend knocking them down purposely some might be lost that way but usually they'll stand back up if you don't screw with them .. but a good steady breeze when they are small will change the outcome for sure so i'd recommend you start an extra tray outside if the temps are right and see if you end up with stronger plants... If growing indoors put a fan on them, start low and make sure it looks a little painful and once that doesn't phase them turn the fan up or move it closer. Here in Dallas we are actually windier than the so called "Windy City" and I wish I could start my maters and chilis outdoors but i can't and it sux lol I suppose I could but I have to watch the temps all the time and bring them in most nights if the temps dip too low eh... just keep in mind that air causes an evaporation factor.. I started using one of those bottom feeder trays that I can just fill up every 2 or 3 days and I love it cause i usually forget to water enough otherwise... last season I had a buttload of plants that went leggy cause we had cooler weather right into spring and many of them didn't toughen up til I let them get beatup by the wind and rain, and my fan wasn't hitting all of them.. Now im almost sure it was this dumb little fan overheating and it would stop blowing for several hours... luckily we had a mild start to summer and I had a shitload of tomatoes and way more chilis than I know what to do with, in spite of many of the plants being toughened late in the season.. Im dredding having to harvest another big bowl soon cause I don't know watta do with them lol I already have several bags of dried chilis! we pretty much have to get them going here before its too hot, especially tomatoes, but chilis and smaller tomato varieties usually produce again after the summer is over for a while I hope the advice helps... wind is good unless its like a hurricane - laff - I also agree with Jox that lights could be a factor.. chilis like pretty intense red spectrum light, tomatoes aren't so picky but still needs to be bright.. needs to be pretty strong flouros or better and pretty close to the lights unlesst they are hot lamps... I learned with this years fall planting, thinking if the lights were good enough to start cacti then they'd be good enough for tomatoes and well, they weren't and so I have a tray of leggy San Marzanos and Tree Maters.. luckily the Marzonos grow much slower and thus aren't so bad i already put them out into the mildly hot temps ... you definitely want to stick with the soil that makes it ez for the little roots and maybe 1/3 rich compost/worm poo or even more than that .. peat moss isn't recommended usually for chilis but works great for tomatoes too but I prefer the coir mix

    Anxiety Disorders. PTSD. Panic Attacks.

I'd have to win a lawsuit before I can afford a psycho my a.d.d has been around since my skool daze and to me its more of an ally than a disorder... the anxiety however came from a major life change moving from fairly successfully self employed to trying to work in the american job environment and well that shits terrorizing, more so when you actually do your best, bring some decent or even excellent numbers to the table, and still get treated like a paper shuffle... I went from one situation where freedom was obvious to where the prevailing game was the game or corporate politics and nothing disgusted me more I am forever self employed. quite frankly I have a phobia for psychotherapist due to being put in mental hospitals at a younger age and them using well dressed thugs to force anti depressants down my throat and watching them put shots in peoples asses.. yeah doctor uniforms is propably at the root of my disgust... My mother finally sided with me because the pills made me like a zombie.. I wasn 't even very violent but they felt the need to make me like that... it was a struggle but they stopped giving me that.. being in a place I couldn't escape from was enough to make me re make some decisions... I broke a clock once right before discharge and they used it as an excuse to keep me for a couple more months... It took maturity before I realized how absurd that was... it broke when I threw it in the trash and thats where my trust for doctors went as well. aminos are suprisingly effective when it comes to short bouts, and I've dramatically changed my diet in the past 2 years I don't eat HFCS I don't eat GMOs.. the other day I took a half a bite of some store bought potato salad before realizing it had some bullshit in it... and well over a long period things have been much better even the a.d.d.. I don't even eat foods with dyes , blue lake, red40 etc due to links to a.d.d.. and well im quite happy with that plan ... just that lately i've had a new bout with anxiety ... probably most related to quitting weed tho, and also im just very intersted in world tensions but also feel overwhelmed by the move towards violence in the world.... The fact is here that doctors don't really talk to patients anymore. Never do you hear good doctors addressing the real cause they are more often selling the bandaids, that is what is most profitable... keep in mind this, that here in america we make up 5% of the world population and yet as a nation we consume about 50% of the prescription medications... this is absurd. It has only inspired me to move towards a preventative lifestyle in my maturity... @ giving my body all the nutrients needed to do all it can do... but sure Im not against all doctors, and I know most mean well, or at least start out that way.. My sis worked for a doctor and would brag about all the free meals they would get from the pill reps.. which is effective at getting them to push those particular pills.. its nasty and I watched that same tactic become regulated heavily with the title insurance business when I was selling and well it dramatically changed the corruption.. befoer that there were companies that were leasing cars and office space for realtors that sold ALOT.... and of course what product would they push? and so why would I trust doctors, who actually don't practice medicine.. they read alot, memorize alot of shit and sell sell sell and then years later we hear about the product recalls. ah well... if I had all the money in the world maybe i'd consider CBT... Aminos & Rhodiola to me is quite different and much more of a natural path than trusting american doctors who are effectively drug dealers. I've seen alot of ppl , who perhaps destroyed their own lives with poor diets and lots of other bullshit, but end their lives on multiple prescriptions and spend their final years in a state of depression... doctors here are anxious to prescribe anti depressants and anti biotics, particularly in the psychology field, and well, im not anti anything... I am pro preventative lifestyle, and I may just have to live with the fact that my choices might require me dealing with anxiety from time to time and while it is pretty horrible its not near as bad as it was a few years ago when I first experienced it... took me to the brink of suicide before I realized the true value of life. I really had no problem destroying them before that harsh experience. for me the bottom line is being happy with who I am , loving myself, expressed by my habits and my diet and not necessarily leaving a legacy behind but being able to look back and know that my choices were worth it and made a difference in the world, even if on a tiny scale that would be fulfilling enough ... I don't wish anxiety on ANYONE or PTSD or any of that debilitating shit... I remember years before I would joke about anxiety when I was selling properties... then when I really got hit, it put things into perspective and so now I respect ppl when they make that face cause I know how hard it can be.. its just sad how awfully crude people can be to each other about mere opinions especially in the big ass ideological state of fucking Texas. Of course everyone starts out with a front its really hard to know who is tuning in to which propaganda station there are healthy ways to deal with it but I think being wreckless in the diet and playing around with the more addictive types of drugs can really complicate things and was perhaps the root of my habitual lifestyle that I have all but killed.. and the most effective factor was eliminating friends who encourage wreckless and hateful lifestyles.. there was a "hump" of emotions but saying NO to ppl has never been easier for me... all I ever did was weed and drinking and I've quit. tried a few other things but never more than once or twice... One thing im SURE I will do again is SHROOMS cause that shit is really effective for depresssion, better than any pill but probably only if I ever experience major depression again... im sure that can be used inappropriately too (no shit right).. I did it once and for me that was better than any prescription.. I went from doing nothing but sulking in pain for months to almost immediatly starting to work on my huge garden, given i was lucky to be able to play on someone elses property.. the Shrooms was divine for me, especially the way it fell into my lap, cause I wasn't necessarily looking for it though I did read about the potential benefits of taking them around the same time I stumbled across that little baggy... whatever it was, in my youth , they ended up diagnosing me with a "chemical imbalance" and proceeded to rape my parents insurance company for hundreds to thousands of dollars per day, for months at a time in at least one case... I was raised on a poor diet, in a hateful selfish environment, and I made the best of it, and will continue to do that, with or without anxiety ... thanks fore the recommendation tho! lol Typing this up with alot like talking to a good psycho, but WAYYYYYY cheaper...
  22. lol... I was kidding about Royalties ... but after hearing your stuff I wouldn't be surprised if you guys end up being really successful thats some real talent - good tunes...
