Part of me wants to believe this but another part of me feels like it's some humanly archetypal story that's been around since the beginning of time. Seems like every so often we hear of the impending doom, wouldn't you say?

http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=24769&pid=272654&st=0entry272654 Time has come for me to cut back the ornamental salvia from the linked thread. Rather than waste the cut material I thought I'd offer 6 cuttings each to the first 5 ppl who want em. Post in this thread and pm me your details, will be posted Monday 19 sept. Happy to take any seed in exchange but trade not compulsory. Roots very well in water on windowsill, it should travel ok in the post but no responsibility taken. If you miss out on the 5 and have nexus or catha cuttings to trade pm me and we'll work something out. Peace

It's been 10 years of war. Osama and Saddam are dead. It's time for this war to be over. I would like to see the U.S. and it's allies pull troops out of any and all countries their forces are occupying except their own. If the powers that be decide we must keep fighting I'd like to see an air/drone war with a "no troops on the group" policy, but really I'd like to see what happens to the world if the U.N. has no interference with other nations that don't want their help, advice or commands.Let's stop the violence by setting a good example and sticking to true American principals and act only upon our values, not upon greed, nor anger, nor pride. Let us think slowly when deciding to act with deadly force, let us feel sorrow and have mercy for our enemy as we hope they would have for us. Let us, us young Americas, us peaceful Americas set an example of amity for the entire world. What if we made each Sep. 11 a day for world peace each year? Just one day a year, one day where no man took the life of another. What if we saved lives with just our voice and our ideas on a day so many lives were lost? Each September 11th let us remember those who lost their lives, let us remember the horror of war and let us turn the other cheek, let us choice the path of peace! God bless America. God bless the people of every nation. God bless all the people of this world.

One Advantage of getting older is that you´ve already heard stories like this every other ten years or so. I just dont give a shit anymore as i know that all´s gona be like the times before. Also its wrong that the mayan calendar ends in 2012. They calculated in Blocks and in 2012, one block ends and another one begins. Also there is no other ancient culture whose calendar ends 2012. This is plain made up bs and people only buy it because they are too lazy to read about ancient calendars themselves. Its true that there is a certain pattern in meteoritical activity what could mean there is a giant star/planet somewhere in our orbit that (maybe) pulls in meteorites into the direction of the earth everytime it crosses our way but that has nothing to do with the year 2012. Its a made up bullshit. We would have seen a large object like this decades ago. Like i said, its likeley there will be plenty of meteorites hitting the earth again in the future as this is just the way it always was but we´re talking of every 25 million years or so. Maybe earlier if people keep on angering the mighty Asteroid god Thorald Analhammer with stories like this. bye EG

I am not sure I believe in the myth of the intelligent human. I mean, how would you know? As for the people I have seen drawn to psychedelics, well I can't say they aren't varied. Being one of the dumbest people I know I still realize that human assessments of intellect are themselves fraught with flaws. We have a conflict of interest in regard to evaluating our selves, others and our species. In general those who are confident about their intellectual capacities seem to be those who often have the smallest intellectual range, despite frequently being well spoken. In an academic setting pseudo-intellect is regarded as intelligence. I find it ironic that in dogs some people measure intelligence by the obedience of the dog, I would think the opposite, that those who are the most obedient and the most able to conform to the expectations of authority are the least intelligent. The dog that doesn't listen is the smarter one, it knows you aren't the boss. I have seen psychedelics cause some people to suspend reason, kind of like Christians, if the bible said 2+2=9 then a lot of Christians I know would believe it and never think about it. Any acceptance of authority in an absolute sense implies stupidity, this is the most clear in those who believe themselves to be intelligent, thus perceiving their own authority and not questioning it. Anyway I have seen some psychonauts do the blind faith thing where a trip tells them that 2+2=9 and they believe that they have gained some valuable insight. Certainty in our species seems to be the hallmark of stupidity.

The biggest factor in selecting intelligence in humans is environment/climate. The most intelligent races are from the northern hemisphere where thousands of years of dealing with cold climates plus an abundance of rich protein (animals in Eurasia/seafood in east Asia) selects intelligence (although through the spread of predominantly northern hemisphere technology and knowledge other factors have come into the equation in contemporary times). In the southern hemisphere hotter or tropical environments a big energy sapping brain is inefficient and a smaller brain = survival. In northern hemispheres so much planning and technology is required to survive ice ages and hunt big energy rich animals (mammoth/whale) that a larger brain = survival. If Psychedelics play a role in helping a group survive they will be beneficial and may lead to an increased intellectual or communal capacity but maybe not to the extent of other factors like latitude, climate or diet. It all comes down to whether traits are beneficial or chosen enough to pass on genes. If a dog disobeys it's owner (or wolf disobeys it's alpha) it's less likely to be used in breeding or pass on it's genes. Whether intelligence in domesticated dogs is selected is mostly subjective to it's owners. Some dogs are selected simply for cuteness, some for their aggressiveness, some for their superior sense of smell and others for their intelligence. Domesticated animals are somewhat different to wild animals because traits are usually selected by humans and not just environmental factors. The fact that a small percentage of some animals and most human groups seek out forms of inebriation suggests it does play a role (even if temporary) in group survival - nature observation, recreation, conceptualizing new ideas or group bonding.
