Thanks Tripitaka. I was recently reseaching kaleidoscopes (as I want to build a kaleidoscopic projector) but I didn't come across this beauty. Such a simple concept yet so beautiful.

Me either! They don't seem to have any problem spotting "hidden" messages in all sorts of films, tv shows and music yet take the bible completely at face value. I am particularly disturbed at the ones that can't accept the idea of evolution (either for a species or a society) but are perfectly willing to believe that the world is only a few thousand years old.

I've found that water extractions cause more sedation and a less intense experience than just grinding and swallowing the seeds (HBWR). So although it diminished some of the nausea it also diminished the experience.

One thing that worries me is how you can make a strong glue using milk and vinegar. I hope milk and stomach acid don't make for an even sronger glue. I do, however, use milk on my cereal and in some drinks so I'm obviously not that concerned.

Is there a trick to getting HBWR and Rivea corymbosa to flower? Both plants are two years old and bushy and healthy but not showing any sign of flowering.

Hopefully I haven't made any mistakes...========================================= Taken from "New Sources of Ergoline Alkaloids within the Genus Ipomoea" by Diego Amor-Prats and Jeffrey B Hardborne. Extraction. The ground seed material was extracted for 30min with 25ml of acetone - 2% aqueous tartaric acid (7:3, v/v). The extract was filtered, and the residue re-extracted twice more for 10 min with 25ml of the acetone-tartaric acid solution. The acetone was removed from the combined extracts in a rotary evaporator at below 35 [degrees]. The aqueous residue was washed three times with 25ml portions of methylene chloride - isopropyl alcohol (3:1, v/v). The pH of the washed aqueous extract was then adjusted to pH 7.7 - 8.2 with a saturated solution of sodium bicarbonate. The alkaloids were extracted from this with three portions of 25ml methylene chloride - isopropyl alcohol (3:1, v/v) and the combined were taken to dryness. ========================================= [ 28.
