But if they find a 6th species in Astrophytum, you can be sure it wont be cheap the first few years, nor will seed.

You mean 7th, right?

Astrophytum caput-medusae was discovered over a decade ago, and both the seeds and (grafted) plants still aren't cheap. I've read that first seedlings (~ 3cm tall) were sold for about 500 euro in 2005.

anyone know about what size a Valdezii should start to put off flowers?

I suspect around 1 inch in diameter grafted; I'll update with a photo when mine bloom.

I bought this already grafted about a year ago. It flowered in January this year and is about an inch in diameter.

Nice! Is Dragon Fruit stock better or the same as using Myrtillocactus for Aztekium/Ariocarpus?

Not sure mate. I bought it already grafted. It's been a bit slow in growth, but will see how it goes next summer.

Im sure i mentioned this in another topic/thread but in there natural environment teki's are symbiotic with a particular fungus. That is not to say you cant get them to germinate but it makes germy rates really hit n miss.

Dragon Fruit stock seems to promote more flowering in most scions and they are more water tolerant than other stocks.

Still a little too early to call it a WIN but here is an aztekium ritteri degraft that is rooting :D

The center one looks to be rooting

Here are the possible roots; Not the old stock rerooting from the center (pereskiopsis) This is after 3-4 months

Most of my previous attempts just ends up with the aztekium drying out.

Just a few more grafts from seed

Aztekium ritteri with hidden pereskiopsis stock (rerooted after cutting back; not sure if it will rot or not)
