mutant Posted March 19, 2014 the bottom seems like an Euphorbia and the flanaganii does not seem a crest IMO.
hostilis Posted March 19, 2014 That's what I was thinking mutant. It looks like my non crested one. I don't see any cresting on it.

mutant Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Mammi's dont know species, if you happen to own some guess or wut, throw away. Couple of them me seeing flower for the first time. ^^^ note this is splitting heads AKA dichotomising (in pure... greek!) and now my fave babes. note these are the second wave of flowers. Many of the first wave are turning into fruits! whats not to love about this genus? flower twice, like turbinis, the hybridise like champs with almost every other species in the genus, they have awesome flowers, well not the biggest ones, but they're not tiny beautiful, they are fast to open and close and they will open fully when brightly lit (!) only, but they flowers last many days as long as they're not retilised, and they are fertilised very easily if you got at least 2 cacti and the fruit is starting forming almost at once. Even the fucking fruit is fucking beautiful when its unripe, and the flower stalks can be something in very bright conditions seen from the side. They are fucking beautiful in every aspect. I read when they are old they look ugly, well, haven't seen that! These guys are pure enjoyment to own, just take care to cut the watering soon enough and for the whole resting season.. ^^^^ Steno Lammelosus, one of the few that are relatively easy to ID. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ fucking beautiful ! could be a hubrid between lamellosus and multicostatus or something , or a hybrid in general ^^^ this too is awesome and probably a hybrid. I have grown some of my own from seed and some small ones to maturehood , but unfortunately lost track of which is which. The two recent disasters in my GH didn't help Astrophytum myriostigma, in case you landed from Mars, first one of the year, early enough (in the GH though) I dig this, summer came early and this is turbini you know which I forget.. one of a couple species which are super tiny and with comb like spines that feat this kind of awesome flower. freshly repotted and pretty sizable A. ornatum , pretty nudum-wise , it was so happy after the transplant that it flowered! hookahhead Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) My mom rescued this from a home improvement center and gifted to me it last year. It had a blue strawflower hot glued onto it . I removed the flower and the glue and only lost a few spines. The cactus has obviously recovered and has been growing quite a bit. Anyone want to id it for me? it was labeled "cactus", so there is your hint haha. Edited March 28, 2014 by hookahhead
mutant Posted March 28, 2014 I am not sure at all for Rebutia, even though it was my first thought too. The flowerings dont typically occur at the crown plus the flower is kind of different / not well focused in the pics. It looks a lot like an unknown of mine
hookahhead Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) Is this any better? Flower is 3 days old now. I would like to know if it is self-fertile or not. I am curious what would happen if I graft the flower bud/shoot..and if it can't set seed anyhow..might as well see what happens. Sadly the flower is getting old now though. Looking at the second pic, it looks like it might be pushing out another bud? Edited March 30, 2014 by hookahhead
djmattz0r Posted March 30, 2014 Came home to this little beauty: And these little pink flowers have been going off for past week or so, can't wait for the one behind it! It's getting there...
Nemisty Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) My first Ariocarpus flower. Just lucky I peeled the curtains back slightly further than normal yesterday otherwise I would never have known Edited March 30, 2014 by Nemisty
mutant Posted March 30, 2014 hookahead, I assume there has to be bright situation for the flower to fully open. no real point in grafting a flower. And if its a rebutia or sulcorebutia indeed, you need two plants so that it sets seed djmattz, the one behind = Notocactus
mutant Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) dadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam] you fucking lop ho - obzzessives and you dont have to be a rocket scientist to tell which are caespitosa and which not... djmattz0r Posted April 5, 2014 Here's my Notocactus uebelmannianus Looked like this one day... Then the next day, finally opened them all up unfortunately today it is overcast and none of the flowers opened, not sure if they will open again or if they are closed for good? And also, while working I noticed a few of the cacti in the greenhouse were blooming so I snapped a few shots of them. I <3 my new job :D
