mutant Posted April 24, 2013 yep they're generous, and when they get bigger they do dozens of flowers! and yep it seems you're right , blow, Opuntia santa-rita, what a fantastic name, hehe, now I love it even more! hey feel free to post flower pics in here
Snowfella Posted April 24, 2013 Doesn't look like santa-rita to me, that one is supposed to have all yellow flowers. Red throat and purplish skin hints at Opuntia macrocentra I'd think, can't see any long spines on it like mine has though. But then mine only has spines on a few of it's pads. mutant Posted April 25, 2013 hmmm some times spineless cacti throw a couple. not seen on a scop though, or a a.myriostigma, lol. I have seen it in tephrocactus. my pachanoi kk339 also eventually seems to throw some pretty long spines in maturity we will see what it is =================================== REBUTIA : PERSISTENT FLOWER http://postimg.org/image/63u4e27zf/full/'> asterias casually flowering . GoOnThen Posted April 26, 2013 Looking good as always Mutant. Love it when you guys start posting flower pics as we head towards winter. Your asterias look nice and healthy and there is something about a asteria in flower that does it for me I dont think Lobivia's , Rebutias and Sulcorebutias get enough love. Everyone should have some in there collection as they put out some great flushes of flowers. Sulcorebutia rauschii in its many forms is one of my favorites at the moment. Amazonian Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) mutant, your cactus all look so happy. Your dedication to the plants is obvious. Very fine specimens indeed. I am smitten with these cactus of yours, (see pic below) as they would have to be the most beautiful cactus i have ever seen. I do believe they are now my favourite in the cacti world. mutant Posted May 16, 2013 Astrophytums asterias it is. They grow slowly from seed, they don't root easily if you graft them , reports say [so think twice before degrafting] and they re probably the most sensitive species of Astrophtyum, probably a bit more sensitive than capricorn. Yep they rule and dont have spines. Additionally the hybridise very easily with capricorns and coachilensis, creating awesome new forms. DO check Astrophytum asterias pictures in the wild / habitat !!!

Jox Posted June 2, 2013 Nice work mate, you plants are looking awesome . I will add a few photos of cacti that have flowered this month for me, my Schlumbergera (Christmas cacti) have been flowering like crazy. Also some of my mammillaria's are budding up but I will put those pic's in the Mammillaria thread. Schlumbergera syn:zygocactus. mutant Posted June 2, 2013 Awesome show by the zygocactus !! had one once, but it got infected by scales and I neglected it , letting it die in guarantine.... negative side of having many plants to care for - if there's one or a couple with different needs, you have to invest time to approach them differntly or else its left up to luck

naja naja Posted October 26, 2013 Hey you Mr "Compulsive cacti collecting disorder!" Nice plants! Is it still a hobby? This comment makes me think of an analogy Like ravers do it for hours, doofers do it for days Hobbiest cacti collectors join clubs, obsessive cacti nuts come here Trust me, I've looked deep inside myself long and hard for any logical reason to want to grow this many cacti + other obsessive ethnos, brugs are an obsession for me also. I can't find a logical reason, infact I can see many logical reasons not to collect obsessively like this, however, I couldn't give a fuck and collect anyways. I guess I am human after all
