Thelema Posted March 30, 2013 Hi, has anyone smoked their own cured N rustica tobacco? I was just wondering exactly how harsh the smoke is, compared to say, something like WhiteOx. A lot of websites claim that rustica is never used 100% in commercial tobacco's, but I'm kinda interested in doing a batch of super-strong stuff. Hey, could set up a gourmet shop if you got the right permits!
mr b.caapi Posted March 30, 2013 <groan> White ox....... . Let me know how ya go, been meaning to try it for ages.
Sallubrious Posted March 30, 2013 I've had a crack at it, once It's not on my list of things to do again. Whiteox is fairly high in nicotine but most of the intensity is from the way that it's smoke cured and not so much the nicotine levels. Rustica is nasty stuff because of the high nicotine levels, if it's well cured it will be a fairly mild smoke compared to whiteox but it kicks like a mule. So just try a small amount or mix some in with regular tobacco.
TrailBlazer Posted March 30, 2013 I could never see myself smoking it all the time. And i am a self confessed nico-fiend! Smoke it like a cigar! Much respect for tabaqueros of the amazon!
Stillman Posted April 1, 2013 if you blend the flower and leaf its not so harsh but the nicotiine hit is a bit rough, made me want to have a sit down and left me feeling a bit green.
Thelema Posted April 1, 2013 been smoking Manitou organic and Domingo Natural recently instead of my usual White Ox/ Golden Virginia when I can get it. Must say it's like smoking corndust. My throat is really irritated. Gonna try American Spirit Perique and Old Holburn next. I would love something about 2x strong as White Ox - I think that would make about 50mg per cigarette of Nicotine. Isn't there some secret genetically-engineered sp that is 2x? theuserformallyknownasd00d Posted April 2, 2013 A tip with the Domingo is to use a hydration stone as it comes out of the pouch way to dry
ghosty Posted April 2, 2013 i have tried it. didnt think it much different. thought i didnt base it with ammonia so cant compare to the crap you buy in shops.
Thelema Posted April 2, 2013 Nah, I think the whole "natural/organic" thing is a marketing myth. Gimme something dark and well-blended in a rolly tobacco - that's the thing.
TrailBlazer Posted April 3, 2013 Why not just blaze a few fat cuban's? That will sort out the niccobeast within. No bum puffing shit just huge triple drags held in for half a minute at a time! IMO anything commercial non organic tastes shit house. Give me Organic manitou with unbleached hemp papers and cotton filters any day! But hey each to their own ;)
gtarman Posted April 11, 2013 (edited) I remember trying some intense Thai or Vietnamese tobacco resin shit from a bamboo pipe at a party once. That shit is wack...I think probably if you opened a boutique tobacconist you'd need to be very careful of how potent what you're selling is - it would be hard to standardize and could be dangerous to people without a tolerance and common sense. bℓσωηG Posted April 11, 2013 Personally the only time i dont smoke N.rustica is when i run out. I absolutely love the stuff, the young leaves about thumb size and smaller are sweet, pick as they grow ,and if you have the patience to peel off the sheathes covering the matured seed pods they're really sweet and really clear the mind . I use a tobacco pipe as i cant slice the stuff thin enough to roll in a paper . Free seeds to anyone that want some and sends me a PM.
endorfinder Posted April 11, 2013 rustica germiantes easily and grows fast, you'll get a lot of plants out of the seed i sent
planthelper Posted April 12, 2013 those sausage slicers, they use in the deli, can slice your tabaco realy nicely.
Thelema Posted April 12, 2013 has anyone cured their own? Would love to hear about curing methods and any problems encountered. I would like to try perique or latakia or Cavendish methods with some rustica.
Roopey Posted April 12, 2013 I soak and roll tobaccum leaves, the let them dry out again, making the leaves go a much darker brown and taste more like commercial tobacco. Rustica leaves are much smaller, but you could probably still try. I just chew them, they are so much better that way.
Torsten Posted April 13, 2013 If you want stronger, why not get your favourite tasting tobacco and fortify it with nicotine?
