I make a lot of my own sauces because I go through a couple of bottles a week, extremely hot stuff from home grown habaneros. The other day after simmering a batch for an hour, I transferred some to the blender, and stupidly sealed the push-on lid and hit 'go'. The lid popped off and a fair amount of the contents covered my face, and into both eyes. The pain was most intense, fortunatey th Mrs was home and showering, I called for her to come and get me, and guide me into the shower ASAP, because I was shaking, disoriented and in shock from both hot temperature liquid AND chilli burn. After 30 minutes of water washing, she brought me two shot glasses filled with milk, and I bathed my eyes, repeating three times. I could see for two hours, and the burn was intense for most of that time. If I was home alone I would have been fucked. This is the second time I have had chilli burn my eyes. Made the mistake of watching some Telly and scratching my nads while it was in the cook, which ended with me sitting with my nads In a glass of milk for a loooong time.
