mutant Posted December 18, 2012 Awesome topic. I hope I got something to show in 6 months from now. I only got one flowering Tricho ['euro scop'] , and the flowers / buds look a lot like superpedro/cordo etc. Interesting. In any case, we got inverted climates, so I am having some Mammis and Stenocacti flowering now, rather than the Tricho.
Change Posted December 19, 2012 How long does it normally take to produce seed? I swapped some pollen with Sallyd and she gave me this breathable bag to tie around the flower to catch the seeds. Its been 20 days since pollination. Yesterday i took the bag off for a look, so far no signs of seed, what do you guys think, have a missed the boat or do things look good ? Im not really sure if the seeds fall out the end or if they are in the green bulb thats fattening up.
dionysus Posted December 19, 2012 lol, they make a fruit / seed pod. would be cool if they spit them out like a mario flower
shruman Posted December 19, 2012 (edited) Nice work Bro, what was the x?, & how did you recieve the pollen? (cotton tips?) Yeah you don't need to worry to much about loosing your seeds, they will be contained inside the 'green bulb' (immature fruit) in a white pulpy somewhat tastey flesh, when the skin splits on the fruit they are ready to be picked. Keep the water upto them while with fruit. That bag looks like a good way of keeping bees/moths/bugs out though to prevent an unwanted cross pollination, I wonder where Sally got the bag. nitrogen Posted December 19, 2012 The fruit can take 1-3 months to split IME - right before it does, a day or two before, it will swell up noticeably - def won't lose seeds when it splits, like Shruman said..

Getafix Posted December 21, 2012 What is the history behind Martin?
solomon Posted December 21, 2012 What is the history behind Martin? Grown by Coromandel Cacti. Sprouted from "Sulcorebutia" seed from Karl Knize if I remember correctly... Named by the community after Martin who runs CC, he just distributes it as peruvianus.
