naja naja Posted June 14, 2012 Although I would love a crested TBM, but I guess it's just the human in me. I find that clone unorganized. Unlike many other trich crests. Maybe it looks better on a diff stock or own roots. It might just be staying in juvenile stage being on wrong stock or grafted.
tripsis Posted June 14, 2012 Naja, the Hamilton's crest originated from a batch of seed they put down, or so they told me. When I asked them about it, they seemed to indicate there were a couple, but it wasn't very clear, so I'm unsure if it's all one clone or two. I expect there are many more than five TPM x SS02 exhibiting monstrose/crested growth in Australia. Considering that others who have had rarities have had them stolen after posting about them it doesn't surprise me that more people aren't advertising what they have. Several years ago someone here even had a crested TBM which was stolen shortly after posting about it. Strangebrew got half the seed that Nitrogen produced, did he not? Which was something around the 150 mark?
naja naja Posted June 14, 2012 can we please see a photo or two of the large TPM's u sold off not too long ago? If u don't want to post them publically, u can PM them to me. Interesting about the TPM, thanks for the info. one of yours exhibited columnar/monstrose growth from memory yeah?
mira Posted June 14, 2012 I thought Nitrogens was columnar monstrose? From what I remember reading at the nook, nitrogen's clone is synonymous with the short-spined peruvianus monstrose that MSSmith has and what is referred to in SC3b as the CCC TPM. That clone shows intermittent normal growth, monstrose columnar growth, and crested growth. It's one sexy beast. Nitrogen's flower came off of a normal growth section. MSSmith's:

mutant Posted June 14, 2012 i dont think smiths is a peruv its a pachanoi crest/monster looking for a source of a TPM crest!
naja naja Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) I think lots of peeps world wide consider pachanoi synonymous with peruvianus. My guess is it is prob distributed as a monstrose pachanoi. You can see if u look at what grows from pachanoi and peruvianus labelled seed. Almost seems like us Aussie's make the most delineation. In my brain it goes like this. Pachanoi has tiny spines, biggest I've seen are on PC pach. Long spined versions I call peruvianus. I know this is far from acurate, but rather average generalization. solomon Posted June 15, 2012 i dont think smiths is a peruv its a pachanoi crest/monster looking for a source of a TPM crest! Looks like Smith has a similar view. http://www.flickr.co...ed%20peruvianus This is the original so-called "Short Spined T. peruvianus" from Cactus Corral, but certainly is just better known as one of the many varieties of T. pachanoi. naja naja Posted June 15, 2012 this TBM crest is damn sexy though and for sale.
solomon Posted June 15, 2012 Yeah I was drooling over that earlier. I wonder if it's all the same crested penis clone that Kada and those cats on the Nook have?
Stillman Posted June 15, 2012 He bought it as short spined T peruvianus but believes it is pachanoid. I need to find some MS Smiths writing regarding his understanding of Peruvianoid and pachanoid classification, does anyone know where i can have a look at any articles? mutant Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) no need to repeat the same stuff about pachanoi and peruvian the 'peruvian crest' you got from hammiltons there is DIFFERENT from both pachanoi crests popular in europe and america. end of story. amybe smiths monster is different with the two forms I am familiar with. maybe Ican get a cut from this monster too, I love monsters and honestly, these are not pachanoi spines on hammi peruv , I believe it will be much more impressive with time. cactus art expensive plant looks like melted wax yeah... naja naja Posted June 16, 2012 Yeah, I only say that cause I searched long and hard for a pic of a monstrose or crested Peruvianus, but just kept coming up with nothing. Except nitrogens plant and the one mssmith has that may be pervianus crests. So I am guessing that most of that clone is sold as monstrose or crested pachanoi. It was not a comment so much on hamiltons crest as it was trying to figure out the parentage for the Tpm x ss01 mutants.
mutant Posted June 16, 2012 I think nitrogen cross has not been grown to mature hood yet, and yes, it might have more peruvianoid traits than hammiltons. Personally, I dont really care what a plant label says, if its clear the label is wrong, I might note it only to remember labels mean shit. Other than than , I dont think we really disagree. myco Posted June 20, 2012 here is my super pedro x j3 crest the first 2 pics are wat i originally got and the rest are wat it has become that last graft doesnt look so healthy but it looked alot worse before it was done months ago and has just started to show some decent growth and get some colour back in the last few weeks and most of the black on it seems to just be scarring on the surface i was considering getting a scrubbing brush or old toothbrush and trying to scrape it off a bit haha
naja naja Posted June 20, 2012 I find the black looks unattractive, but doesn't seem to affect the health of the plant. Nice work on multiplying.
myco Posted June 20, 2012 yeh thats why i wanna scrape it off it just looks like shit its definately not affecting it the other one had more black on it to but its almost gone away now
