bogfrog Posted May 10, 2013 DreamTime i would almost give her a little drink, it looks like the damage won't be the end of her, with a bit of TLC im sure she'll be on the mend soon, dunno if others would agree but i have always made sure my plants get a light watering after sustaining sunburn. I don't know the science behind it but the cacti which i have had get sunburnt have always been super dehydrated and i'm guessing they cant defend themselves from the sun quite the same like that. (TYMutant) Also grafted a Astro Huboki on peruv stock....(didn't take that well,.. but still hope) (TYMutant) Multi Lophy grafts done on Peruvy stock last week. Making more graft stock. Pereskiopsis and peruvy's. I think I am going to focus on local cacti as graft stock for bigger grafts. They seem to grow so strong and are best adapted to the local climate. I got a couple clones that are columnar monstrosa pach like these. both the crest-only and the crest / columnar monstrosa I got have certain points in their evolution which really interesting , reptile like I could say. I have to say Igor is the most interesting to watch grow, you dont know how its going to develop next. But its odd how one side has more distorted growth than the other, is this common? That pic I took shows the first proper areole emerging on that side for a while and none seem to be following it, however the other side of the cacti has semi-normal growth. PhoenixSon Posted May 22, 2013 realized that i would need to spend a nice chunk of my holiday cleaning the garden of weeds/sticks and mulching with lots of mowing and whippersnipper action to follow. not too bad, need the exercise, should be relaxing and nice to see the place in decent shape. I guessed the soil (commercial cacti/succulent mix) was too moist, so I took it out and dried out the soil for a while. I think most of them should be sweet, i've moved the most vulnerable/precious plants indoors and the rest are under the shelter of trees now. Many got snowed on last year and didnt rot or anything. The snow is heading your way tomorrow so moving stuff indoors is worth it if you're worried. Plants grown in your climate probably wouldnt handle the cold the same as mine. If its just the crooked shape you are talking about and there is no squishyness, it should be fine, just shrinking from dehydration, not having its own root system to get a drink. If its just the crooked shape you are talking about and there is no squishyness, it should be fine, just shrinking from dehydration, not having its own root system to get a drink. it's just bending/collapsing a bit, it isn't actually squishy. if it's dehydrated, should i water it? it does actually have roots already. i was under the impression that cacti don't like being watered after they've been re-potted. the soil is dry, i actually went out of my way to dry it because i thought there was too much moisture.
