damn , would be extremely difficult to bonsai this.. would take years and years.....

hence it says it took 500 years to get the bridge to where it is now....

its impossible to stunt a vine... i wonder how a port jackson fig would go using its aerial roots......

wow. incredible stuff.

reminds me of these tree people:

and tree seats:

they are still long term projects but this sort of training would be alot more attainable in our lifetimes

Everything in this thread is incredible!!

Wish I had checked out those living bridges when I was in India.

Those tree people and chairs are amazing. How does one even begin to grow a chair like that?!

There's a pretty good write up on wiki, makes me want to do it!

Iv seen the tree furniture before and always wondered how to do it - I'd say a lot of tedious effort (luckily you'll have a nice shady seat to relax on after all that effort).

As for the bridges - thats just incredible! Definitely want one of those (over the moat around my future house in the rainforest B) ). If i start growing some fig trees now maybe its possible

Its hard to believe people built those hundreds of years ago, and unless someone cuts the tree down itll be there for hundreds more years (maybe longer), and today with our modern technology a bridge requires constant maintenance to prevent it from just collapsing under its own weight
