You should be able to get an idea of the texture and layering in this first shot.

That is awesome man. :worship:

Love the shots where you can see the composition. It adds a whole other dimension to it. Do you sketch it first and then start cutting paper to match your sketch? Or do you just pick up the knife with an idea in mind and let it evolve?

Thanks!

I do line sketches first to try and find a seed of something. In this case, it was the exploding jet engine in the top left hand corner. I then thought a plane crash would be an interesting theme for a painting so I sketched more forms which might reference a plane crash. I then took all those sketches and scanned them into Photoshop and coloured them. I then moved/rotated/scaled all the sketches in Photoshop until I was happy with the composition. Then scaled it up and started cutting paper.

In other words, its never random. Always carefully planned.

Very unique style!

It actually reminds me somewhat of some Kadinsky works

...but less abstract.

Yup. Kandinsky has always been a favorite. Also Basquiat, Miro, Picasso, Takeshi Murakami are big influences.

Can definitely see the miro influence too. Hadn't heard of Takeshi Murakami before. Dude, some of that stuff's like pokemon on acid B)

There's also a bit of a pop-art feel to this particular piece of yours, with all the warning signs and stuff. I don't mean that as an insult, lol. I'm not a big fan of pop-art as a genre in itself, but the symbolism works in other genres like this. Actually one of the immediate impressions it brought to me was that of some Sally experiences. I have never gone deep, but have often gotten that sort of symbolism in my experiences. Usually stop signs and railway signals and stuff, and it's all juxtaposed in a similar fashion.

Do an advanced search in the creativity forum with topics started by "Dale Cooper" He's got some nice work on here already. But yeah, if there's anything you haven't uploaded yet, I'd love to see more too. :)

That is actually a pretty good description of Murakami.

I'm not sure about Sally, never tried :( I will say that I have a keen interest in mescaline's influence on modern art. It's funny how on several occasions I have heard people describe mescaline visuals as like looking at a cubist painting. Most are probably unaware of anecdotal stories of what Braque and Picasso may have dabbled in on a visit to the Americas before heading back to France and beginning the cubist manifesto. Interesting to ponder.

I like these three a lot

2 Singularities (Anesthesia)

Paraphasia

Crash

Perfect outlines, colour and flow. They kinda flow like graffiti pieces.
