The Merck CD is just a very very large access database with a sort of form front end where you can enter query fields like... "Chemical common name" or "LD50" or "Derivative" and it'll return all the chemicals that have that name, or have the LD50 you enter, or have derivatives you entered, etc. It's kind of crude, and one day I will purchase the book, but as it stands (considering I do 99% of my work and research on the computer) it's good enough.
