It would appear Mckenna and I share many beliefs... such as the idea that all plants should be legalized.

All of you who give me hell for my philosophy, start giving Mckenna shit.

I can cite him in a number of other places where he obviously indicates that he holds plants in higher respect than synthetic psychoactives.

He even notes my idea about distilled alcohol vs. natural wine, beer, mead, etc.

Thanks for the the post. I'm sure the members of this forum will be fascinated to learn this surprising and little-known view of mckennas regarding plants over synthetics.

And you certainly came to the right place to argue your point. An ethnobotany forum is the ideal place to push for a change of certain laws.

And i think anyone who wants to give mckenna shit will have as much success at getting their point accross to him as it is to you, him being under 6 foot of dirt and all.

Psychoactives which are considered worthy of use must have a "yes" answer to the following questions-

1) Does it come directly from natural sources? Is it a plant? Is it organic?

2) Does it have a long history of human usage? Has it been scientifically studied?

3) Does its history of human usage and scientific study show that it is relatively safe and non-toxic?

4) Does its history of human usage and scientific study show it to be non-addictive and non-habitat forming?

5) Has it been proven to be an effective psychoactive?

fungi are not plants.

non-toxic is pretty vague. even many vegetables have toxic stuff in them. ayahuasca has so many different add mixtures its impossible to nail that one....and many are quite toxic.

why are only those that answer yes, worthy of use? Brugmansia is used in eye medicine and is pretty scary to most people. just as one example.

i don't see how worth, useful, human history etc has anything to do with the fact that nature should not be banned. aside from conservation, i can't see any logical reason for outright banning any piece of nature. i mean, its like saying its not ok to be naked in our own body. its just ridiculous.

Many more people in common society would agree with my idea over y'all "all drugs need to be legal" philosophy.

The point of this thread was to show respectable, intelligent people such as T. Mckenna hold similar views to mine.

And furthermore... my philosophy, the philosophy that plants should be legalized (first) is actually started to be realized (medicinal marijuana, etc) so why not hope on the train and see how far we can go? Hell the tracks may end with all drugs being legalized... but first lets make a stop at the plant legalization station

Mexico is talking about the legalization of drugs to help curb the massive crime problem there....every country KNOWS how to eliminate the drug problem, which is simply a criminal problem because they cash in on it. anything becomes a problem once there is more demand than supply.
