Alice Posted February 23, 2010 Nice collection, I enjoy the variety. All very healthy looking. Are you into bonsai? Thought I spotted some starters in pic 4, ficus, gingko, and perhaps an elm cutting and a couple of shimpaku cuttings?
spong Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Yeah I used to be really into bonsai, it's more my Dad now, most of those cuttings there were his. I'll put up a few pictures of the bonsai too They're not the best photos, it was a gloomy dim day when I took them. Edited February 23, 2010 by spong

bluejay700777 Posted February 23, 2010 Hey Spong great collection there mate. What kind of Echinopsis is that by the Echinocereus Pectinatus? I have been given some of these plants and the young pups look identical to yours but I am unsure of what type they may be. Cheers

spong Posted February 23, 2010 Do you mean the lobivia arachnacantha? They look a bit like young pups on some types of echinopsis.

spong Posted February 24, 2010 Yeah they're stems the flowers grow on that dry out and go hard once the flowers die, they look really good when they're older and surrounded by the stems. Bluejay, I'm actually not sure about that one, it was just one I'd been growing since I was a kid and never knew the name or where I got it, I took some cuttings off it and I'm now trying to get it healthier so it'll flower and I can figure out what it is. spong Posted February 26, 2010 I've been doing a bit of googling, perhaps it could be Echinopsis calochlora?
bluejay700777 Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) Yours may be. Mine doesn't seem to have the lumpish (can't think of the right word) growth on the larger ones but rather thinner ridges. I'll post some pics up of the larger ones. and a couple of the pups I planted. Edited March 1, 2010 by bluejay700777
bℓσωηG Posted March 1, 2010 I've been doing a bit of googling, perhaps it could be Echinopsis calochlora? pretty hard to tell until they flower ,and there are alot of echinopsis hybrids out there , to get them to flower earlier keep taking off the pups to keep it solitary growth
bluejay700777 Posted March 1, 2010 Cheers for the advice. Will do.
